// Only if you want to :) //

Sugi / Shinrin / Lead Hunter / Camp Clearing / Mentions: Song Thrush

Sugi smiled, glad to hear she was doing well. If she'd run into someone, she'd surely tell him, right?

"I'm not doing too bad myself. A little bored, actually." He noticed a lot of eye movement from her until she finally looked at the bridge of his nose. Flicking an ear dismissively, he shook out his fur. "Do you need help gathering any more herbs? I'm sure I'm open. To help, I mean."

While awaiting an answer, he looked over at Aurea, the female spy, and beckoned her closer with a twitch of his tail. Whether or not she saw, he didn't know, but turned his eyes back to Thrush.

Kesuto / Loner / Kesuto's Den / Mentions: N/A

Kesuto trudged through the growing lightness within Shinrin Pack territory. Although he was used to traveling through pack territories, it didn't stop him from being on edge and keeping his eyes and ears out. His nose twitched every so often as he took deep breaths, drinking in the scents, seeing if he could smell anything new. As of now, all he could smell were markings probably made that morning before the sun rose.

His white-tipped tail flicked every once in a while as if he were dusting off the nerves, but they always came back. Kind of like that time he got fleas. Gosh, that was a terrible time. I could barely hunt when I had them. He thought, shuddering at the unfond memories.

Blinking his white eyes, Kesuto lowered his muzzle to the ground. Sniffing a few times, he believed he could smell the trail of a wolf. However, he couldn't tell whether it was male or female, and the tracks left behind were barely recognizable. You wouldn't see them unless you were staring intently at the ground as you walked.

Curiosity flaring, the male stopped and thought for a while. If he ran into a Shinrin wolf, maybe he could make a friend. Or an enemy, He reminded himself. If it were a female, even better, he could pull out his 'special' moves, as he called them, though he barely used them due to the fact that he almost always avoided wolf trails.

"Maybe this time will be a bit different..." He mumbled, twitching his ears decisively. Shuffling his paws a little, it wasn't long before Kesuto made up his mind and continued padding through the undergrowth, following the pale scent.

Guadalupe.||Numachi.||Expecting Female.||Location: A little further than the outskirts of camp.||Mentions: None, but are still open, lol.

Lupe suddenly woke up, purely out of boredom. Honestly, she wanted to sleep more, yet her eyes wouldn’t let her. She was too awake to sleep any longer. She groaned a little when she’d realized that she couldn’t sleep any longer. She quickly got up, and... she was hungry again. “Ugh... that’s annoying..” She wasn’t sure if there was still food back at the camp, so she decided to try and hunt for her own food today. She stretched herself a little, and went out in search of some good food! “It won’t be that hard to get something to eat, right?” She was quite wrong. Because of her current condition, she had to slow down so that running wouldn’t hurt her or her pups. And since you have to be quick with catching prey... she pretty much failed each time. She only was able to catch a small hare carcass. She sighed heavily and ate it anyway. “I used to be much better at this..!” She had to take a break, since she was now really tired. She caught her breath after a while of panting, and went to a new tree and rested for a few, so that she could collect her strength and head back home.

Sirius | he/him | Yama Alpha | Location: Outside Alpha den | Mentions: Nousagi, Astrien

"What goes on in my mind is my business, and my business alone." The alpha replied tensely in a quiet tone before glancing away from the duo of females, huffing softly to himself. He wouldn't take some stupid herbs for the sake of simply suppressing some pesky visions. He was certain that doing such a thing would cloud his mind as well, make him walk around like some dope who couldn't think. He had no interest in such things. The visions happened mostly at night- it didn't always effect his duties as alpha. Not like he'd fallen off any cliffs recently.

The charcoal-colored male briefly glimpsed at the sunrise, recalling the hallucination he'd had just moments ago. What was puzzling was the fact that he'd never seen those wolves in his life before. Had his mind just...made them up for the purpose of the daze? They had an uncanny resemblance to the rival packs, the Shinrin and the Heiya. Sirius himself wasn't particularly superstitious, despite his strong belief in ancestors and the power of the afterlife. His mother had the ability to speak with them, after all.

His mother...he had heard her voice during the hallucination.

It's nothing. Forget it. Sirius told himself forcefully before he returned his attention to his pair of packmates. "Nousagi...I'm assuming you have some scouting news to report?"

Aurea| she/her | Shinrin Spy | Location: Shinrin Outskirts | Mentions: Kesuto

The half-breed pondered her unique abilities that she had inherited from her Heiya father. Seldom did she change form, but it was a half she was curious to explore. Shape-shifting could prove itself useful on spying missions, although, most of those missions would be against the enemy pack, which made up half of her bloodline. If was a frustrating situations to be stuck in, and it gave Aurea all the more reason to avoid hanging around the Shinrin camp. They were really like animals, some of them. She had no interest in continuing down some warmonger path.

She paused briefly, enjoying the birdsong of the dense Shinrin forest. Perhaps her mother's pack was a ragtag group of maniacs, but at least they settled in such a beautiful land. Aurea glanced towards the trees, enjoying what few patches of sunlight managed to hit and warm her fur. What is it like to fly...?

Camp was a safe distance away. Aurea knew that she shouldn't let curiosity get the best of her, but she wished to indulge herself in the gifts that her sire had. She attempted to shapeshift only a few times- she found that morphing into a red fox was the easiest. A bird...she'd never tried it before. Perhaps today would be the day...

A noise, a faint, distant rustling of fauna. The Shinrin wolf paused, removing her attention from the singing birds and focusing on where the noise might have come from. "Who's out there?" Unlike her Shinrin packmates, she didn't sound particularly aggressive as she spoke out. In any event, it might be another Shinrin wolf, and the last thing she wanted as to have one of her packmates bite her nose off for using a "hostile tone".

Nousagi / Yama / Scout / Alpha's Den / Mentions: Sirius (D), Astrien (D)

Nousagi flicked her ears backwards as her alpha basically said she had no business asking in the first place. She exchanged a glance with the lead huntress before letting out a silent sigh, a light one that didn't make her sides heave.

There was a long silence between the three until the dame heard her name. Her hackles prickled lightly as heat overcame her skin. Of course. How had I forgotten? She cleared her throat, looking up at her alpha.

"Yes, Alpha Sirius." The she-wolf nodded, bringing her ears forward, raising her head. She did not want to show weakness throughout her whole day. Also, she took pride in her job, so why not show it?

"Our borders are doing great, and our borders are strong. The prey is at a healthy quantity, from what I've seen. I did not smell any loner or rival pack scents, so no spies have come into our territory as of now." Nousagi finished, wagging her tail ever so slightly.

Kesuto / Loner / Shinrin Outskirts / Mentions: Aurea

Kesuto, as he followed the trail longer, found that it was one of a Shinrin female. Twitching an ear, this was confirmed when he heard her voice call out into the undergrowth.

Strange, he thought to himself, maneuvering himself to the backside of the she-wolf. These Shinrin wolves usually have only foxdung to say, whether loners or just a packmate passing by. This one is... different. With a smile, the male realized that the odds of befriending her could possibly be in his favor.

He debated on what to say, looking down at the soft grass underneath his paws. A straightforward, friendly approach, of course. No need to startle her. Taking this into consideration, Kesuto moved back to the front of the female. If he came from behind and scared her, she could lash out and instantly opt to chase him out.

"Name's Kesuto," he said softly a few seconds before he came into the female's view, his white hues observing her pelt rather than looking her in the eyes. Her pelt looked dappled, and he believed it was naturally like that, not from the sunlight coming through from the canopy. Her eyes were an icy blue, and her nose seemed to be some shade of pink. She looked mostly orange with brown markings throughout.

"Sorry for the intrusion," Kesuto added, lowering his head by a small amount.

Sirius | he/him | Yama Alpha | Location: Outside Alpha den | Mentions: Nousagi, Astrien

The male waited in silence for the scout to spill the news of their borders. He had expected no less- their harsh territory was impenetrable to all but their own kind, who could use the wind to maneuver their way over dangerous obstacles or steeps that were practically impossible to scale. Nonetheless, it was wise for a pack to always be on the alert, considering that they were bordered by not two, but three other packs. "Thank you," the quiet alpha replied briefly with an acknowledging dip of his head.

Once more, his eyes drifted towards the horizon, as the sun climbed higher and higher into the sky. "...I've always envied you scouts for getting to constantly see all of our land. The other packs do not give the mountains enough credit for all its beauty." Sirius mused quietly, deciding to make minimal conversation while he waited for Astrien to report her business near his den. He suddenly paused. "...That being said, I'd rather the others still keep their dirty paws off of Yama territory."

Aurea| she/her | Shinrin Spy | Location: Shinrin Outskirts | Mentions: Kesuto

This stranger definitely wasn't part of her pack- Shinrin seemed to come and go as they pleased, but she certainly didn't recognize him at feeding times. His coat was brightly colored with black highlights, and his scent had hints of fishiness, as if he lived near a water source. It would be a reasonable place for a lone wolf to live- without water, there could be no life. A wolf could go several days without food, but he or she was nothing without a good source of drinking water.

In terms of demeanor, he didn't seem particularly hurried or concerned, considering that he immediately introduced himself despite coming face-to-face with a wolf that stemmed from a typically aggressive pack. Sometimes, it was better to keep a name disclosed from a Shinrin- especially if you hailed from Heiya. However, Aurea noticed that the male seemed a little more interested in her unusual coat, rather than looking her directly in the eyes as she spoke. Perhaps it was an attempt to avoid seeming hostile, considering that dominant wolves didn't particularly like being looked in the eyes. But Aurea...she considered anything else to be disrespectful, especially during conversation.

"My eyes are up here, stranger." She couldn't resist commenting on the matter, although her voice still lacked any venom or sign of hostility. Since learning of her parentage, Aurea's outlook on life and others was something much more mellow. She really did seem more Heiyan than she did Shinrin. But, her packmates would never know that- for all they knew, she was purely Shinrin.

At least he apologized for his sudden appearance. The dappled female kept her shoulders relaxed, communicating that she was no threat. Clearly, that was true- she was a thin, sneaky spy, not a brute. "That's ok...although I must warn you that you're intruding on Shinrin land. My packmates don't take kindly to strangers." She gave a small twitch of her tail. "...My name's Aurea."

Astrien | Female | Yama Pack | Lead Huntress | Location: Yama Pack, Outside Alpha Den | Mentions: Nousagi, Sirius |
Astrien tensed slightly at the Alphas reply, watching him for any movements directed at her. She did, however, think it was quite stupid for him not to want to see the herbalist. Although she understood his possible motive, as herbs can have quite... undesired side effects, she still would have gone had she been in his position.

She stood up straight as Nousagi reported what she had seen, and the huntress nodded slowly. This must be good news, although Astrien did not quite have good news. She turned slightly as the Alpha spoke, picking up the rabbit and setting it back down closer to Sirius' new position. Nodding at the Alpha's statement, she sat down, keeping her stance as formal as she could.

"I have been spending more time wandering the mountains, where the critter and small prey are usually abundant. I don't usually take the hunters up the mountains, and the tracks and scents always seem like old ones in the snow. But... The critters are scarce. Although, its normal for their numbers to dwindle from time to time, this time I only managed to catch a single rabbit." She rambled, frustration clear in every muscle of her body. She kicked the dead rabbit softly.

"I think mountain lions are growing to be numerous again." Distaste was clear in her tone as she looked up at the Alpha, meeting his gaze for a second.

Hiyaku, Shinrin, Warrior, Edge of the Camp Clearing, Mentions: None

After his encounter with the hare and Song Thrush, Hiyaku's train of thought had been disrupted, so he had no clue what he had originally been planning to do. Quickly deciding, he got up from his spot and wandered in the general direction that the she-wolf had come from, before settling down next to a tree and honing his claws on a small rock he had stashed near the tree. It was a very odd process, and occasionally it tickled, so he would have to stop for a bit and shake his paw out before scratching his claws down the rock.

Song Thrush | female; herbalist Shinrin; Camp Clearing | mentions Sugi

"Oh- uh. Sure." Song Thrush turned back to her stash of herbs, counting them under her breath. I suppose I could use more of that- and maybe those. "We could use some more bearberries and burning bush sprigs."She left the herbalist cave and headed in the direction in which she thought there was a little cluster of burning bushes. First looking back to see if Sugi was following, she stepped into the shade at the edge of the clearing, sniffing the air thoughtfully. Yes, she was certain this was the right way.

Kesuto / Loner / Shinrin Outskirts / Mentions: Aurea

Kesuto's eyes shot up to the she-wolf's as soon as she mentioned them. Interesting, he thought, flicking an ear. I've never met another wolf who likes to be looked in the eyes. Nevertheless, I barely meet wolves.

The male listened, intrigued, as she stated her name. "Aurea..." He whispered, testing the name on his tongue, and then he smiled. "I hope I am allowed to say that is a beautiful name. Never heard one like it." Kesuto said, hesitation lining his words. However, he didn't regret saying it, for it was true.

"Being a loner, I observe the packs all the time. I know much about them, including the fact that your pack is considered brutes amongst the others. It seems you already know this, so I won't say anything more," He grinned, enjoying the fact that he knew information that could be helpful in a way.

"Unless asked, of course. I'm sure a desperate wolf wouldn't hesitate to force it out of me, either. Of course, I'm sure you're not one of those wolves." Kesuto flicked his tail dismissively, looking up at the canopy for a split second before returning his white hues to Aurea's.

Before he said anymore, he pricked his ears, awaiting the pretty she-wolf's next words.

Sugi / Shinrin / Lead Hunter / Camp Clearing / Mentions: Song Thrush

Finally, something useful I can do for the pack other than hunting. The lead hunter thought with a twitch of his shoulder, and he listened to the herbalist's words, and it was as if she were checking off a mental list in her head. Sugi believed that he was familiar with what herbs she stated.

"Got it." He said softly and looked out into the forest for a few seconds, his pale eyes combing through the undergrowth. Something felt off, but it could wait. He was sure it was just his imagination playing tricks on him, anyway. When he turned his gaze back to her, he realized that Thrush was already walking away.

Fluffing his fur, Sugi trotted after her, settling into a slower pace once he caught up to her. Trusting her senses, he looked around for colorful things, since he was sure that the herbs were bright in a sense. He also believed that they had some sort of red on them.
