Reed

Common Reeds is a grass species evidentially native to the North American region, historically used as a building material for arrow shafts, musical instruments, mats, and houses. They can grow up to 6-12 ft. in height (1-3 m) that produce the plume-like blooms that mature from purple to a golden brown color in late summer. The mature golden brown is where the name for this wolf originates.
The non-native subspecies are visually similar, and has been considered invasive in North American area due to the displacement of their own native species.
