Pack Lore
In the cold wind of the dark swamp night, birds gather around, crying out sloppy sad songs. But the most noteable is the tawny owl, atop a small waterlogged bush, near to the body of Sage, breathing hollow and heavy. Barely drawing air. The owl lets out small noises as it watches. It seems worried.. scared... sad. Sage picks her head up, heavy and pained, looking at the owl. Her head drops back down as she sees it. "He... Hello little one." She says, her chest rising heavier as the words claw out of her greyed muzzle. "It's about time you've returned." She said, pushing her head through the grass, back towards her pack. All nervous and watching, all gathered together. Cry's of the Moon, her herbalist, had stopped giving her the medicinal herbs she'd been taking. They weren't keeping her alive anymore. Just keeping her from dying. And Sage had finally asked that she stop. She now gave a sad smile. She knew. She knew whatever she said, it would be her last words. Why not make it a good statement? "I... I find it funny.. That i've made it so far. Back home, far past this place..... Back in the human lands... This area is known as the place of no light. And yet, i never knew light until i ventured through the dark." She said, the words scraping out, like a heavy stone being pulled over cement. "This place. My home. My legacy." She looks to her children, most adopted. "My family." She looks around at every one. "It's-" she stops to cough, heavily, bits of flem and saliva falling to the grass she laid in, Almost gasping for air when she stopped. "It's more than i could ever ask for. More than i ever deserved. Stranger than one would imagine." She said, glancing to no one in particular. "Back home, in the forests of cement, and monsters of no fur. The humanlands. You'd never find creatures such as magnificent as you all. Pink wolves," she paised, thinking on Aphrodisia "Wolves born of the sun," she looks to Solar Flares "The moon," To Lune, Then Patterns of the Wind. "Wolves with moss growing into their fur." Sparky. She let out a small laugh, before coughing again, worse this time. "Back in the humanlands we'd never use little gilded cones to buy things. We wouldn't buy things at all actually. Especially from a little raccoon with glittering eyes and a sly smile. We wouldn't do jobs for a snake, or a mouse. We would just eat. Devour. Everything." She said. "This place. It's a hotbed for the strange. And i wish i had only explored it more in the time i had." She said. She looked up to everyone again. She could see tears, nervousness, grief. "But if i started once again. All the way back, in the humanlands. I'd venture out again. I'd find Mist again.." She pauses and looks to him and beckons him over, touching noses with him for a little longer than one usually would. Heavy tears fell down his face, and once she pulled her nose away, he dug his muzzle into her scruff as he cried. "We'd venture for months, survivng off what was left of bone marrow. Again. All for this. All to have this, exactly as it i-is." She stumbles that last word, coughing heavier, worse once again. Bits of blood falling into the grass now too. She looked again. They knew it too. They knew she wouldn't live much longer. "A-argonite.." she said, her mate who was right at her side quickly stepped closer to her, cuddling against her more. "My love, help me up would you?" She asked. Argonite was very hesitant, but agreed, helping her weak, aged body up with his own. Mist got up as well, pressing gently up against her opposite side to help keep her up. His body nearly as weak as hers. Sage's tail sagged, and she could barely keep her head up. "Crisp, Darling, Come here." She said, looking to her young daughter. Her heir. Her legacy. Crisp tried to brush her tears away before walking up, but more just fell down, as did her head as she walked up, ashamed of her own tears. Sage, in her weakness, nosed Crisp's head up. "It's okay." She said softly, licking her daughter's head. "I love you, little one." She said. "You'll be a great leader." She said. "No matter what you may believe of yourself." Her head was laying ontop of Crisp's now, as she was nearly unable to keep it up at all. "Let the pack help you. Let them teach you. Let them care for you, as you do for them." She said. "You're the leader now. You've got a lot of lessons to learn. Things no one can ever teach you. Not even me. You have to learn for yourself why you were picked. It was a knowledge. A greater knowledge than i myself have. Learn why. Learn what makes you the alpha. What you'll be remembered for." She said. Crisp was heavily sobbing into her mothers neck now, like a pup afraid of the dark. Sage nuzzled her gently, stiffling another cough, as to not ruin the moment. "Bird." She said softly, her much younger son came to her side, crying as well, much less scared to show it. "I'm sorry i couldn't live with you longer my little boy." She said, picking her head up and placing it upon his shoulder. "You'll be a fine wolf, no matter what you may choose to do. Your young, so don't worry about the future and what it holds. And stop being so bull headed." She slightly laughed, getting a small chuckle out of him as well. She had the same moment with her other two pups, SwallowTail and Patterns of the Wind. Both adopted from a kind bear. Afterwords, she coughed even more, blood and flem falling down her chin. A small whine of pain escaping her. Then, her moved her head back once more, and pressed to Argonite. "Don't mourn me long love. Don't stop living just because i did." She said. "You're still full of life. Don't waste it." She said, nuzzling him. He was sobbing now too. He was sensitive, he always was, and all this was just too much for him. She smiled softly. "Take me to the river.." she said, knowing well that she couldn't walk anymore. And sandwiched between Argonite and Mist, they took her to the bed of the swamps river, just a few meters ahead. The pack followed. And as Sage laid in the grass, she gently dipped her front paws into the water, and laid against Mist. "I'll see you soon Mist. Thank you for always being at my side. My best friend. My first love. You'll always be my number 1." She said. And with that, her head went limp on him. Her entire pack gathered around her. The tawny owl from before watched the sight, before taking off into the air, flying so close to her body that her fur moved in the breeze of its wings. It grazed the surface of the water, before swooping up towards the sky, disappearing into the cloud line. And as Sage's body lay dead, down upon her shone the name sake of her true legacy. The Golden Moon.

The Poly Project is a 1 pack only breeding project, the goal of which is to have a system of wolves that are constantly breeding/being bred/bred as much as is possible, especially with the current stud, Lidae, In an attempt to getting a Poly mutation. Because while the others are cute, Polycephaly, and Polymelia, are the cutest! At least in this projects opinion! The main end goal is for a specifically Polymelia pup, but The Poly Project does have plans to someday expand to both Poly's, and then all mutations!
