Right now I'm OBSESSED with Assassination Classroom even though it's kind of sub-par in some aspects. The parts that are good are REALLY good.

I also really like Noragami, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and Mob Psycho

I’ve watched a bunch of anime, but this year the one that has made me super happy is Durarara!! It’s easily put itself in my top 5 anime

Oh, it's nice to see other anime lovers here!

I've started watching anime quite a bit of times ago and I also own a vast manga collection, including even volumes in japanese (some are really old first editions).

As for anime, here are my favourite (strictly personal ranking)

  1. Youjo Senki (Saga of Tanya the Evil)
  2. Steins;Gate
  3. Psycho-Pass
  4. Re: Zero/Jibaku Shonen Hanako-kun
  5. Violet Evergarden
  6. Durarara!!/Monogatari serie

And...there are much more, but these are the ones I prefer. I'm really into anime/manga/light novel, so the list includes only the serie I watched first as an anime. (Example: I first read the FMA manga and then I watched the anime, so it's not in the list). Also, this list is not 100% fair, since it's really not possible to decide which anime is better, because a great comedy can't really be compared to a sci-fi anime...so yeah, the list is just my personal preference...

I also read quite a bit of light novels, most are the ones some anime are based off (example: Re:Zero), but in some cases I've started reading them before the anime came out/watching the anime.

My absolute all time favorite anime is:

  • A Silent Voice

It touches on bullying and how it affects people. It's incredibly emotional and even pulled at my jaded heartstrings, and it serves a purpose other than simple entertainment.

My faves are probably NGE, Berserk (1997), and Girls Last Tour. Also a big fan of JJBA! Most recently I've watched BNA and Dorohedoro, both of which were pretty enjoyable. I think the next series I want to watch is Legend of the Galactic Heroes, because I've heard so much good stuff about it.

I tend to watch with subs because I've taken 5ish years of Japanese, and it helps me remember stuff I normally would've forgotten. At this point I'm way better at understanding spoken Japanese than written; I'm pretty sure I've forgotten 90% of the kanji I learned!

Oh! Heh, my favourite anime...I don't think I have a favourite, but I tend to look at the new anime each season and see if there's anything worth watching. I tend to watch subbed, because not everything I watch has a dub, and even then, not all the dubs are good. Like, with Ghost Stories, the dub is pretty infamous. To tell which ones are my favourite...I'll list the top 6 and leave it at that.

1. Mysterious Joker (also known as Kaitou Joker). This is a phantom thief anime, so, our protagonist is stealing items for the thrill of it. It's just a lot of fun, though it kinda fell by the wayside since it was too close to the release of Kaitou Kid, which was more popular than Mysterious Joker in the end.

2. My Next Life As A Villainess. This is an anime I was actually looking forward to, since I read the manga first. It's such a fun take on isekai anime, and is one of my all time favourites, because even in the villainess and isekai genre it is one of the best.Β

3. One Punch Man. I've seen this one recommended here a few times and I absolutely agree. The idea of an OP hero who hates it is fun and refreshing to see in the shonen genre. Plus, every single one of the characters are fun.

4. Tanaka-kun is Always Listless. This is one of my personal feel-good anime, because it's just a slice of life with very little drama. There is a little bit, but it doesn't go ham with it, and is rather simply how life goes. It's got probably one of the best OP's, and the softest animation I've ever seen! I was watching it in my last year of high school and it actually helped a bit.

5. Digimon! Oh ho, Digimon is just a rip roaring time all around. Doesn't matter which season you watch, they're all pretty good. People tend to laud Tamers as the best, but Frontier was always my favourite. I dunno. I just think there's something more fun about becoming the Digimon than anything else, though Savers was also good fun because oh boy the fact this guy has to land a hit on the enemy in order to activate the powers of his digimon partner.....anyway, there's a few different seasons for people to choose from that don't have any relation to the other, unless it's Adventure and 02, as 02 is a continuation from Adventure. Or you could go Tri, I guess, but like...personally Tri was never my thing.

6. Bakugan Battle Brawlers! Another older one. I was watching it dubbed recently and the first time the intro was done it was like a gut punch of nostalgia. It's got a few oddities about it, and I think it was only created to sell merch, but that's fine because its one of the better examples of that kind of thing occurring.Β
