Winter // Year 17 |
The Alhavenlan Pack // End of Season Report | |
---|---|
After struggling for food this winter, the Alhavenlan Pack scatters on the brink of starvation. All of them searching, hoping, for food yet finding none. By the end of the third month, no wolves have returned to the Alhavenlan Pack's rendezvous site and the Taiga is eerily silent. | |

Pack Research Report
October 23rd - 28th, 2023
3 Month Overview for WinterI thought this day would never come but here we are. On our routine check-in with the pack, we're sad to announce that the pack has starved out. Not a single pack member has returned to the Alhavenlan's rendezvous site and we've even seen a few dead wolves when we went out to recover Seranni's radio collar.
Such an unfortunate turn of events. I was hoping-- praying-- that these wolves would make it to see another spring and just flourish once again but it appears that the prey scarcity this winter was too much for them to handle and they've all starved. Their weakness from not having any food for weeks at a time really hindered them in keeping up with the herds this season and to be completely honest, the herds were much more active this year. I suspect some wintering sites have changed this year which is truly unfortunate for the pack.
However, things must continue on I suppose. We'll be releasing a wolf into the Taiga later today and closely monitoring how she fairs for the rest of this winter and going into spring. This wolf was actually a pup of Alpha Leena's prior to her taking over the alpha role when Irosylis passed leaving Seranni to lead. We had intervened when she was just a young pup due to an injury and we named her Maelle. She's such a sweet wolf and I hope she does well out here. My crew and I will have her in our thoughts and prayers as winter comes to a close finally.
That's all for now though. We'll be outfitting Maelle with a radio collar to keep track of her and keep our fingers crossed in hopes of her being able to restart the Alhavenlan Pack. I don't know if it will ever return to the size it was but hopefully they will fair better this time around. Until spring's report, folks.

The Alhavenlan Pack // End of Season Report | |

As spring comes to a close, the pack braces themselves for a long and difficult summer. With more mouths to feed and some strange occurrences throughout the forest Maelle and Silvhen remain cautious and are constantly keeping an eye on their southern border line. | |

Pack Research Report
October 29th - November 3rd, 2023
3 Month Overview for SeasonWell, this has been quite the eventful spring for this new pack! I was hoping things would've gone a little smoother for this new pairing but it seems like they're managing just fine despite the chaos of a new litter and two rival packs closing in on their territory. We're closely keeping an eye on this Nahanni Ridge pack as well as a new pack named Northwick pack. However, this Northwick Pack doesn't seem to be your average wolf as we've seen quite a few with dog-like qualities. They do seem to be a formidable pack despite this and I worry for the Alhavenlan's newly born pups. If either of these two outside packs were to catch wind of their den, they would most definitely be killed. Hopefully it won't come to that and the Maelle can continue keeping these outsiders away.
Moving onto the hunting news though, these two have done quite well this season! They've managed to keep themselves well fed despite being only two of them and I've even seen them leave some scraps behind for scavengers. I will say I'm thoroughly impressed with Maelle and Silvhen's ability to adapt and overcome the recent hunting challenges here in the Taiga.
Otherwise that seems to be all for now! I'll be attaching a newly updated map of the Taiga that includes both rival packs on it as well as a litter report which should be getting sent through over the next few minutes. Please keep an eye out for that if you're curious to see the first glimpses of the pups! But that's it for this season and I'll see you all again come the end of Summer. Stay safe folks!

Summer // Year 17 |
The Alhavenlan Pack // End of Season Report | |
---|---|
The Alhavenlan Pack seem to have taken a bit of a breather this season as no advances have been made on their territory. Instead, the two alphas focus on raising their pups and they both remain vigilant as they lounge about the den site. | |

Pack Research Report
November 4th - 9th, 2023
3 Month Overview for SummerThankfully, this summer went rather well for the Alhavenlan Pack. I was a bit worried about them not being capable of catching enough food for them all but they've shown me that they're able to take down enough prey for all 5 of them.
But, besides food being a bit of a worry for myself it's been relatively quiet. Little Himsulem was injured briefly but thanks to the constant watch of Maelle she was able to keep the little pup in tip-top shape while also watching the pups play a bit more closely now. Which is understandable, I wouldn't want any of the pups to take another tumble like that again.
Hopefully things will remain peaceful for the Alhavenlan Pack as we enter autumn and I'll see you all then! Until then, folks!

Autumn // Year 17 |
The Alhavenlan Pack // End of Season Report | |

As autumn comes to a close, the Alhavenlan Pack spends their time teaching the young adolescents the basics of hunting. However, they're still treating hunting as a game more than anything else but Maelle and Silvhen are proud of how well the youngsters are doing so far. | |

Pack Research Report
November 10th - 15th, 2023
3 Month Overview for SeasonThings have been a little hectic on my end as of late but I'm very glad to report that the Alhavenlan Pack has had a decent break in the chaos as of late. No wolves have been seriously injured, very little border disputes are happening and the adolescents are beginning to take their first steps in learning how to hunt properly.
These are exciting times for my researchers and I! I cannot wait to see these youngsters flourish into strong hunters when they all grow up. Maelle and Silvhen could really use the extra help when it comes to hunting so hopefully these young wolves will grow quickly for them.
But, aside from that there's not much news to cover this season. Hunting has been going well for the pack and they've all managed to have full bellies majority of the time. So, I'll be seeing you all again at the end of winter. Until then folks!

Autumn // Year 18 |
The Alhavenlan Pack // End of Season Report | |
---|---|
The Alhavenlan Pack seems to be enjoying their calm autumn however they are bracing themselves for another harsh winter. They were unable to move further south as they typically do due to the pups still requiring a den but both Silvhen and Maelle know they'll need to move south eventually due to the food scarcity within the Taiga. The alpha pair is not thrilled with this decision but they have more mouths to feed now. | |
