I closed my eyes and turned around, leaning back against the tree I had just punched. I slid down to the ground, pulling my knees up to my chest. I just sat there for a moment before finally looking down at my hand. ". . Ow. Well, that wasn't smart." I mumbled to myself, seeing how there were small red droplets forming where I had skinned my knuckles on the bark. I'd never been squeamish around blood, even when it was my own, but that didn't mean it wasn't painful when I bled. I didn't want to go home. I'd only be yelled at if I did. As I sat there wondering if I could just go stay with Mavis, there was a sudden clap of thunder. Lightning flashed, and I knew at that point that I would have to go home. However, that didn't mean that I had to go right now. I'd just stay in the woods for a while, enjoying the sounds. This was the only sense of peace I ever really felt. |
