Azzie felt tears burning their way down her cheeks as he stepped forwards again, the pounding of her fist getting weaker. And then the doors opened, and she heard a yell of rage. Seconds later she watched with wide eyes as Pyro jumped over her, her breath getting caught in her throat. She laid there for a moment, seemingly dazed, before remembering what was happening and pulling herself into the room, body wracking with sobs. She pulled herself into the fetal position, trying to regulate her breathing. Fuck, they're all gonna think I'm weak. I let him make me weak. She insulted herself over and over again, while continuously trying to calm herself down.

The doctor's eyes widened as he watched the woman become... something else. He almost didn't get out of the way in time, staring in awe for a moment before diving out of the way at the last possible second. He felt one of the flame talons graze his leg and cried out in pain. He pulled himself up from the ground, glaring at the flame beast. "I'll be back for her. Count on it." He swore, melting into the shadows. And then he was gone, and no trace of him remained except for the ones in their minds.

Azarrath just continued to mutter to herself, nails digging into the skin of her legs as she held them to her chest. It was pretty much incomprehensible besides the occasional 'stupid..' peeking through the haze of words.

Pyro hissed as they landed, skidding on the concrete. In a flash, the man was gone, and Pyro roared in fury, slamming their fiery fist into the wall. Cracks crawled from the new hole as dust and debris flew out at the sheer force of their punch.

Can't believe we fucking lost that bitch, Quinn grumbled, and Pyro snorted a flame in response. "What a coward," they growled together. Swallowing the heat in their throat, Quinn slowly took back over again, the fire dying back a bit, still showing itself in her one good eye. She turned, scowling, before seeing the shuddering body of Azzarath, curled up on the ground. Her face fell into something softer (albeit still very much pissed), and she rushed over, crouching beside the demon.

At this point, Buck and Alik had shown up, and wisely, they stood a ways away from the two. Quinn heard Buck whisper something to Alik, but she was too focused on Azzie to care. Her hand hovered over Azzie's shoulder, but she hesitated, fingers trembling slightly.

I can't do it, Quinn thought hopelessly to Pyro, taking a shuddering breath and clenching her fist. What if she hurts me?

You can't live your life without touching anyone, Quinn, Pyro responded softly. Not everyone will be mad at you.

But there's always that risk.

She pulled her hovering hand away, instead leaning both her elbows on her knees, tilting her head to look at Azzie's face. "Did he... did he hurt you?" She felt that anger flare up in her chest again at the thought of the man doing anything to her. To any woman, really. God, the audacity of some guys, she thought, being reminded painfully of her ex.

Douchebag, she thought venomously at the memory of him, before shoving him out of the way. She could see Pyro in her mind's eye very dramatically taking the memory and setting it on fire. If only it actually made her forget, she would've done it with... well, many others. Don't get lost.

Azzie curled tighter into a ball, anger, fear, and despair waging a war for control in her mind. She felt someone at her back, and though she doubted it was him.. she could never be too sure. She felt her body convulsing involuntarily, as if it wanted her to look as though she were going crazy. But hey, fear does weird shit. She heard a woman's soft voice.. no.. was that? "Quinn..?" She asked weakly, her body slowly relaxing as she realized she was safe... for now. She laughed shakily, "N-No.. No, he didn't hurt me.." He was about to though. A voice in the back of her mind spoke up, sounding both disappointed in Azzie and disgusted at the doctor at the same time. She shook her head, pushing the voice away. She didn't need to be scolded in this moment.

Azarrath slowly unfurled her body, laying silent on her back for a few moments as she contemplated. How did he find me? How was he able to get in? Did The Duke let him in? Did he know about this? She shook her head, No.. he got me out of there in the first place, why would he let the same man steal me away again? It just doesn't make sense. She decided she would talk to him as soon as possible, he had to know this had happened. If the doctor could get in, who knows what else could? It could spell disaster.

Quinn sighed softly in relief, before mentally kicking herself. Gotta stay tough, you're already pushing your limits. She glanced up at Buck and Alik, who was still staring rather awkwardly. She narrowed her eyes at them, and they shifted.

Buck rubbed the back of his neck, grimacing. "Uh, I'll just be... inside. Y'all come in when yer ready." He wheeled around and closed the door behind him, making Quinn flinch at the sound.

Alik, despite looking slightly uncomfortable, lowered himself onto the steps, resting his elbows on his legs. He thankfully didn't continue staring at Quinn and Azzie, instead fixing his gaze on the ground.

Quinn turned her attention to Azzie, who was now lying on her back, staring up at the sky. The girl blinked, feeling really out of place in the dead silence. She twitched slightly, swallowing a lump of anxiety. Someone's coming, Pyro warned, and Quinn's head and heart rate shot up, expecting the man to have returned.

She wasn't sure if she should feel relief or groan out loud as Nicky appeared, phasing through the wall separating the courtyard from the training grounds. Why didn't she just use the alleyway? It's right there, she thought, before swiftly standing up. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Alik stand up as well, saluting the woman, and Quinn found herself hesitantly mirroring the motion.

Nicky's narrowed eyes squinted even more as she looked from Alik to Quinn to Azzie and back again. "What," she started, her voice barely a whisper. "Happened here." She turned her glare to Azzie, eyes full of loathing. Quinn felt a flare of anger in her chest, and she stepped in front of Azzie, causing Nicky's scowl to bore into her instead. She fixed the woman with a steely gaze as well.

Azzie rose to her feet, face blank of an expression. The calm before the storm, if you will. She had given Nicky one too many passes for being rude due to the fact she was another child of experimentation. The woman had pushed her to her limit, and that small voice she hadn't heard since she was a child spoke in her ear. It's demonic tongue hissing out commands. Glass shards pricked at the inside of her skin, begging to be let out. Begging to make contact with Nicky's skin. She stepped towards her, not even one ounce of emotion breaking the surface. She avoided touching Quinn, still not sure how she felt about her.

Azzarath stood directly in front of Nicky, "What do you think this is? Do you think just because I'm your 'sister' I won't beat you into the ground like the work you are?" She asked, spitting the word sister out like poison. "Because if you do, you are sorely mistaken." It was clear Azzie had received this side of her from her adoptive father, the ability to go from happy-go-lucky to murderous in seconds. "I have given you more chances than you deserve. And it's time for you to learn a lesson. You don't gain someone's favor by being a brat and throwing a tantrum." She hissed, her voice mixing with a deeper, but still feminine, voice.

The demon drew her fist back and let it connect with the other's nose, before letting their other hand do the same, and repeating the movement over again. "You awful, awful woman. You make my life a living hell, and it has never done anything except keep you out of favor." She spat, finally stopping her punches. She clenched her fists, face still cold. She had somehow sounded angry without her expression changing one bit. "Don't look at me like that again."

As Azzie stood, Quinn stepped out of the way, slightly spooked. She did not like the vibes. The tension was thick enough to slice with a butter knife, hanging in the air like a thick autumn fog. She stared in surprise and disbelief (admittedly, a bit of awe) as Azzie stepped up to Nicky, the other woman's chest swelling in indignation. Her pale face had blotches of red rising on her neck as she became angrier and angrier.

"Do you even know who you're talking to?!" she screeched, the edges of her body blurring slightly as her atoms began to separate. Her ruby-red lips curled into a disgusted sneer, and she opened her mouth to say something snarky, but her head flew back as Azzie's fist connected with her nose. She let out a wail of pain as blood spurted from her nostrils, but surprisingly, she didn't fight back.

Quinn watched on, emotions swirling around in a blazing tornado. Amazement, horror, excitement. She stared at Azzie's turned figure and felt something twinge inside her. What the fuck was that? she thought wildly, eyes widening in surprise. Hell if I know, you're the one in control right now!

She glanced back up at Azzie and thought only one word; Fuck.

Nicky had fallen to the floor, spitting out blood and holding her hand to her nose, still glaring at Azzie. "You're going to fucking regret that, you little weasel," she hissed, eyes shooting over to Quinn as she pushed herself off the ground. "You just made yourself a whole lotta enemies, Alabastor. Watch you're fucking back." In an instant, her whole form shimmered and blurred like a mirage in the desert, and she sunk into the floor. She was gone within seconds.

Quinn let out a breath she didn't even know she was holding. "That," she said, slightly breathless, as she turned to grin at Azzie. "Was badass."

Azarrath bared her teeth at the woman in a full body laugh, "You know I won't." The demon said, spitting on the ground where Nicky had been as soon as she had phased away, the spit red with blood. When she turned, it was clear why, as small and large bits of glass were sticking out from her skin. Blood dripped down from the wounds, running down like crimson veins covering the outside of her obsidian skin. She cracked her fingers, glass receding back into her skin quickly. She raised an eyebrow at Quinn when she spoke, "…what?" She asked, eyes widening slightly. This is… strange. I would've thought Quinn would be disgusted with me… She thought, frowning slightly.

"Right, well… let's go meet with Buck now." She advised, wiping her adoptive sister's blood from her hand and onto her clothes. Erilium piped up, Who in the absolute shit fuck, is that? How fucking long have I been gone? Azzie just rolled her eyes, no one important.. at least, not yet. She moved past Alik, but not before patting him on the shoulder. "I'm sorry, I know that stuff makes you uncomfortable.." She whispered, before making her way back to Buck, blood still staining her body. "Right, Buckaroo. What do we need to know?" Azarrath asked, head tilted.

Quinn blanked, reeling back in surprise at the sight of blood running down Azzie's face. "Uh, wh- Are you... are you okay?" Her stomach twisted as she noticed the shards of glass poking out from her skin, and she couldn't help but feel nauseous. "Yeah, right, right..." she narrowed her eyes in confusion, mostly at herself. How could the girl go from zero to a hundred and then back again in only a moment? It baffled Quinn.

She followed after Azzie, glancing at Alik. When the other girl patted Alik's shoulder, he dipped his head respectfully to her, grunting in appreciation. He stood, waiting for the two girls to pass, before glancing over his shoulder and following them inside. Buck sat on the table, one leg crossed over the other, texting on his phone. When the three entered the room, his head shot up. "Ah, 'bout time y'all get back. We gots work to do," he said, hopping off the table and turning to the map. He didn't seem fazed at all by the blood on Azzie's body.

Alik made his way to the wall, crossing his arms and leaning against it, his eyes (although narrowed) were focused on the map. Quinn decided to stand on the opposite end of the table, across from Buck.

"Right, well, ya head the Boss-Man," he paused, tilting his head at Quinn, who widened her eyes in confusion. "'Cept you, o' course, since yous weren't out there when he said somethin'. Basically," he continued, smoothing down the edges of the paper. "We got this warehouse, yeah? Full o' supplies we need. But, them cops are gettin' suspicious, and they're gonna be conductin' an investigation on it."

"Y'all, meanin' you, Azzie, and Alik, are gonna be goin' in, removin' the supplies, an gettin' out."

Quinn raised an eyebrow. "And what'll you be doing?" Alik snorted, causing Buck to whip his head around and glare at him. "He will be here, safe in little room, telling us what to do." The other man sharpened his glare. After a moment he rolled his eyes, before turning back to Quinn. "Don't listen ta him. I'm in charge of makin' sure y'all don't get killed. Which," he said, shooting another glare at Alik. "Is a very important job."

Alik laughed again, shaking his head, but said nothing.

The spiky-haired girl slammed her hands down, grinning. "Sweet, sounds good. Do I, uh, need to get changed?" She glanced down at her ripped jeans and denim jacket. Not very good for a stealth mission.

"Yup.. absolutely fine." She answered, giving her two thumbs ups and a wild grin before plopping herself onto the table. She crossed one leg over the other and watched Buck as he explained, head tilted. Her insides compelled her to look at Alik, a sigh that wasn't her own exiting her mouth. He looks awful.. The thickly accented voice ringing through her mind spoke, and a weird kind of grief rose in her gut. Azzie tore her gaze away from the man, shaking her head at herself. You need to stop.. you're making me look like a lunatic. Oh wait- they already think I am one. She giggled slightly, like she had just told the funniest joke ever.

She groaned as he said that, "I just wanna know why this place was so good for storing things if they found it." Azarrath commented, eyebrow quirked upwards. She snorted at Alik's smartass, but not wrong, statement. But when she opened her mouth to speak, a voice that wasn't her own echoed from the cavern of her mouth. "As always." Erilium's Russian accent was thick, but she didn't care if no one else understood her. She knew Alec would, and she knew he would know who she was. He always did, even if she had been apparently dead for years.

Azzie turned on Quinn, raising her other eyebrow. "Yes, change." The same low female voice spoke.

Buck shrugged heavily, tapping his fingers on the table. "They've got eyes everywhere nowadays. Can't do shit without gettin' caught." He tilted his head curiously at Azzarath as she spoke, even though it didn't sound like her. Quinn reeled back at the sudden change in Azzie's voice, her eye wide. "Uhhh," she said, staring at the woman incredulously. She leaned across to Buck, speaking out of the side of her mouth, still watching Azzie. "Is that normal??" she hissed.

Alik's head whipped up at the sound of the new voice. His ordinarily expressionless face was twisted in confusion and, strangely, sadness. "Wha..." he muttered, gaping at Azzie.

Quinn glanced from Azzie to Alik and back again, before leaning back. "Uhhh, yeah, this is..." she paused, before waving her hands in the air at the two. "Weird. Really fuckin' weird. I'm gonnaaa... I'm just gonna go. Yeah." She pushed away from the table, turned, and went to the door.

"What the fuck just happened?!" she hissed under her breath as she left the room, running her fingers through her hair. A tendril of flame in her head twisted thoughtfully before Pyro whispered back. I'm not entirely sure, he said slowly. "But I think... I think that Azzarath lady is different now, as if something woke up inside of her."

Quinn nearly froze in her tracks, but she kept walking, shaking her head in disbelief. "What, you mean like, a demon? Is that even possible, a demon possessing another demon?" Pyro crackled grumpily. "Hell if I know. I've only been awake for some fifteen years. This is the first circumstance I've heard of such a thing."

She began to make her way back to the apartments. "Ah, shit," she said aloud as she remembered something. "The elevator doesn't fucking work." Pyro sighed. "Let me take over, I'll get us up there,," he said, and eventually, they stood on the balcony. Deep, sizzling grooves now engraved the side of the building, but hey, they made it to their goal. Turning back into Quinn, she pushed open the door ("Shit, this thing REALLY needs a lock on it.") and was met with Groucho. Cooing at him, she grabbed some dark clothes and undressed, before pulling them on. She turned to the full-length mirror propped up against her wall.

She'd chosen a dark green zipper vest with a thin, black long-sleeve shirt underneath. She'd decided that although she would've loved to pull on her favorite pair of baggy cargo pants, it wasn't the best for a stealth mission. So, instead, she settled for some regular, not-baggy cargo pants. Dark fabric, of course. She wasn't a complete idiot.

Welllll... Pyro hissed playfully, making Quinn glare at her reflection as if the face staring back at her was his. She sighed, her scowl dropping from her face as she tilted her head, stepping closer. She ran her fingers through her short blonde hair, delicately feeling the large burn patch on the side of her head. Not very... stealthy. Right? "Right," she confirmed under her breath, crouching down to dig through one of her many boxes, before tugging out an old beanie. The white thread was fraying from the front, and she ran her thumb over it, smiling sadly at it.

She'd found it in the attic one day when her mother was out. The box it was in had been shoved in the corner, with multiple more boxes piled on top. Unlike the other old objects, its container hadn't been labeled.

Quinn could only assume it had been her father's.

Angrily shaking away the saddening thoughts, she pulled the hat on, feeling relieved as she saw that it decently covered most of the burns. Well, except for the ones on her face, but her eyepatch did a pretty good job of hiding some of it. She sighed deeply, smoothing out the creases on her pants. "First step towards toppling this place," she breathed, still examining herself in the mirror.
