Azarrath had climbed down the other side of the building and was perched on the newcomer's balcony railing. She knew the elevator was down, so thank the gods she could climb. That would not have been a fun journey.. because she hated stairs, always had. She couldn't remember why, but she'd been climbing instead of using the steps ever since The Duke had found her as a little girl and decided to adopt her. He was always a busy man, but somehow made time for her when he could. And she was grateful for that. She pulled a pocket knife out of her pocket, opening it and examining it. She remembered designing this blade to be quick and sharp, so she could be in and out of an altercation.

Azzie smiled, starting to spin it through her fingers as she waited. She knew it'd be a while, Quinn had a bunch of stairs to get through.

She was halfway there when she decided to take a little break. Her legs were burning like molten lava, and she had a painful stitch in her side.

Why the hell are we slowing down, Pyro rumbled. Quinn let out a frustrated groan. "Would you like to take the reins, jackass?!" She glanced up and saw a kid, maybe about fourteen, staring at her incredulously. Quinn chuckled nervously and waved, before turning and climbing up the stairs again. She rolled her eyes at the internal sizzling laughter. "Yeah, yeah, I get it," she said in between breaths. As she took the final step, she could hardly wait to get into her bed. She stood at the top of the stairs, feeling her stomach drop as she realized she had no idea what room she was supposed to go to.

In front of her were four different hallways, all lined with doors. "Uhhh, Pyro???" she said, staring in bewilderment at the hallways. She heard her firey companion sigh. Second hallway, third door on the left, he rumbled, and Quinn sighed. Honestly, firefly, you'd forget to wear pants if I wasn't here to remind you. She scoffed, mildly offended. "Dude, I can so take care of myself without your help!" she mumbled, arriving at her door.

Yeah, okay, whatever, Pyro chuckled. Quinn felt her chest's fire spark up in indignation. She slide the key into the lock and turned it, opening the door. She felt her breath catch in her throat.

"Daaaamn," she said, whistling softly. The place was pretty decently furnished, compared to the rest of the junky building. Closing the door behind her, she walked around, examining the apartment. It had its mini kitchen (which she shied away from), a whole ass living room, a bathroom, and a huge master bedroom. She flopped onto her bed, sighing deeply as she was enveloped in the cushions and comforter, feeling her eyes droop. "God, it's been a long day," she mumbled, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand.

Quinn, Pyro rumbled, sounding strangely worried. "What, what'd I do this time," Quinn groaned, keeping her eyes covered. There's someone outside.

Quinn sat up quickly, looking at her bedroom door. "Gonna have to be more specific, bud," she said. Outside of the bedroom, her apartment, or the entire building? On the balcony, dipshit, he hissed, sending a spark into her neck muscles, causing her to look involuntarily at the balcony (that she hadn't even noticed, she was so locked onto her bed). Her eyes widened as she spotted a shadowy figure perched like a gargoyle on the railing. She walked over to the glass door, staring wide-eyed at the figure...

And promptly pulled the curtains closed.

What the hell was that?!?

"Dude, I'm too tired for that shit, she can bother me in the morning," Quinn said loudly, before jumping into her bed. She took some of the covers and rolled around in them, eventually ending up like a burrito. You're probably gonna regret that, you dumbass, Pyro sizzled affectionately. "Eh, she can take up any complaints tomorrow," she mumbled, yawning.

Azzie sighed slightly, watching the knife fly through her fingers. She sometimes wondered about her biological parents, who they were, what they did, why they left.. She was so deep in thought about this that she didn't notice that Quinn had arrived at first, but when she looked up and saw Quinn marvelling at the place she blushed slightly. The look on the face of this muscled woman just.. hit her heart weirdly. She slapped herself across the face, shaking herself out. Thats stupid, shut up. She told herself, jumping down from the balcony.

When the woman looked at Azarrath, she waved, one finger at a time. She watched Quinn make her way up to the glass and expected her to open the balcony door, but she just yanked the curtains shut. She stood there in shock for a moment before devolving into a mess of laughter. She knocked on the door, not to get the woman, but to see how hard she would have to hit it to break it. Mmm.. good, not that hard.. lucky Duke gave her the easiest room to break into.. on purpose of course. He reached up, grabbing the top of the door frame and moving her feet up it. She started jumping to build up force, before pointing her heels at the glass and jumping to hit it over again.

Suddenly, the glass shattered and she flew through the opening, letting go of the door and landing inside like a cat. Azzie stood up after a moment, brushing herself off. "That was quite rude." She said, no fire to her words as she gave Quinn and her companion a wicked grin.

Quinn's eyes had closed, and she was slowly drifting off into sleep when she heard knocking at her window. She grumbled in a groggy voice, "Go away." As soon as she closed her eyes again, she heard the sharp sound of glass breaking. Her heart jumped into her throat as she sat up quickly, letting out a terrified scream, accidentally rolling off the bed. Landing with a thump, she wriggled out of her covers, before popping up on the other side of the bed, her eyepatch crooked and her hair sticking up in all different directions.

"What," she growled, chest heaving as she stood up. "The hell is wrong with you?!" As she began to shout, her voice began to combine with Pyro's, growing more raspy and low and a hundred times more pissed.

She scoffed, putting her hands on her hips, and baring her teeth. "What's rude is you breaking down my fucking door. How the hell am I going to sleep in here when there's a damn draft?!"

I vote we eat her, Pyro hissed, flexing his talons in her mind's eye. Quinn couldn't help but agree, and scowled at Azzie's grinning face. What a smug bastard. "What the hell do you even want? Some people are trying to sleep, ya know," she spat, throwing her arms out to motion to her (now messy) bed.

"Oh hush. I need to concentrate." Azzie took a deep breath, closing her eyes. She regulated her breath, deep breath in and let it all out. All of a sudden, the glass on the floor started shaking as if there was an earthquake happening. She touched her pointer and thumb together and the glass flew together and connected again, before the now whole pane flew back into place in the door. She let out a breath she hadn't known she'd been holding, slightly sweating. "Right. There you go. Also, you should be careful. Duke gave you the room that's easiest to break into, and Nicky might say you'll be safe here but you made enemies the moment you beat Aaron in that duel to join." She pushed herself up onto the table, crossing her legs.

"Eh, you can sleep. I'm just here to make sure nobody kills you." She clicked her tongue, "Us girls gotta watch out for eachother." She grinned again, her teeth looking jagged in the dim moonlight. "And don't even think about saying you can handle yourself, not everything is about being buff and having a demon in your spine." She said, starting to twirl the knife again. "Plus, people may not like me very much here. But they wouldn't dare to touch me, which is unfortunate because my libido loves to act up." She pouted, clearly not having a filter. But hey, she's perfect for when you want someone to talk to but you don't want to talk.

Quinn started to argue, before staring in stunned silence as Azzie used her powers. She could feel the energy in her bones and the pit of her stomach as the glass reformed, before shooting back into place. She stared at it for a moment before shrugging her shoulders. Not the weirdest thing she's seen all day. She jumped onto her bed, sitting cross-legged and glaring at Azzie. Waving her hand dismissively, Quinn scoffed. "Ha, as if they could hurt us! Pyro never sleeps, so we can never be snuck up on!"

She narrowed her eyes at the other girl. "Yeah, like I'm just gonna trust you right off the bat. You broke my fucking door down." She tilted her head back and looked down her nose at Azzie. "And I can take care of myself. I got through the toughest years of my life without Pyro, and I can damn well do it again." She reeled back in disgust, blushing slightly.

Hm. That's new.

Shut the fuck up you cold-blooded bitch-

"Dude. TMI," she spat out, rubbing at her nose in an attempt to hide her acting-up face. Pyro, be useful and do something about the face problems! Alright.

Her head erupted in flames, and she yelped, slapping at her cheeks and hair to put it out. It didn't hurt, but damn, did it scare her. She stared at Azzie wide-eyed. "You didn't fucking see that."

"Right, well, considering I'm a Demon, I know that we get tired too. Even if we dont necessarily need to sleep. And that holier than thou attitude is going to get you killed quicker than you can say 'I have a huge ego'." She answered, eyes narrowing slightly. She felt anger flare in her gut, sharp things poking under her skin like a ticking time bomb. Who did she think she was? Assuming she knew everything about their species just because one of them was living inside her. Azzie inhaled sharply, clenching the handle of her blade before relaxing as she started to feel much better.

"And fixed it." She corrected, tapping her knee with the tip of her knife. "Oh I dont doubt you both could take care of yourselves... separately. You're just too different, and even if you're working... kind of well together currently. It wont last." She got distant towards the end, looking like she was in a different dimension. "I would know.. She whispered, clenching and unclenching her hands. When Quinn said TMI she shrugged, "I've learned over time that it's not worth caring what other people think about what I say. Deal with it." Azarrath's demeanor was changing so quickly it could probably give someone whiplash.

She clicked her tongue, "And that-" she pointed to Quinn's head, "is exactly what I mean." She didnt look concerned or anything, looking as if she'd seen it all before. Which, to be fair, she had.

I'm really starting to hate her, Pyro hissed, and Quinn scowled at her. "You know, this ain't the best impression to give someone," she spat, curling her pierced lip. "Going around and just assumin' shit about someone you don't even know." She laughed coldly. "Ah, yeah, like that just makes everything better," she said, her voice thick with sarcasm. "Thank God you put it back together, yeah, really appreciate you busting in here with no permission whatsoever, thanks for that."

Alright, maybe ease off of the pissy mood, firefly, Pyro rumbled, but Quinn shoved him away. She didn't care if this girl was the second-strongest person here, she wasn't going to take any sort of bullshit.

She crossed her arms, frown deepening. "Despite popular belief, not everyone gets along a hundred percent of the time, lady," she said, "And it's not like he has a choice. He's stayin' with me 'til the day I die."

Which might be soon, if you don't shut the fuck up. How about you just mind your own damn business for once, Pyro?! Let me handle this, for fuck's sake.

Unfortunately, she couldn't help but somewhat agree with what Azzie said about not caring what other people's opinions. Oftentimes, Quinn felt the same way. She mentally shook herself; she REFUSED to even slightly relate to this random demon chick. She huffed loudly, standing up on her bed, arms still crossed. "If you're going to stay here, go out to the couch," she spat, glaring down at Azzarath. "If you don't want to, then piss off. Honestly, I don't give a fuck, but you're getting out of my room, whether you like it or not."

She couldn't even stand the idea of someone else being in her room other than herself and Pyro. It made her skin crawl just thinking about it. She was about to jump off of her bed and stalk over to Azzarath, but a knock at her door made her freeze.

"Wha- who the hell is knocking this late?!" she exclaimed, partially to herself. Then it clicked. She let out an excited gasp, forgetting all about the other demon in the room, before launching herself off the bed and at the door. She skidded around the corner and got to the door, flinging it open, chest heaving. A young man holding a pet carrier jumped slightly as the door opened suddenly, but he regained his composure after a moment. "Uh, are you..." he squinted at his clipboard. "Qinlinn... Allipastor?"

Quinn recoiled in slight disgust but resumed her normal (?) posture. "Yep, that's me, Qinlinn Allipastor," she said, trying not to snicker at the horrible butcher of her name. The guy nodded, handing her the carrier. "Sweet. Uh, enjoy? I guess?" he shook his head, obviously too tired to process what he just said, and turned to walk down the hallway. Quinn shut the door, setting the carrier on the floor, her giddiness practically pouring out of her. She got on her hands and knees, peering past the metal mesh door.

"Heya, Groucho. Miss me, bud?"

The carrier emitted a rough-sounding mewl, to which Quinn barked out a laugh and opened the cage. A large ginger cat with patchy fur and clawed ear strode out, rubbing himself against Quinn's leg. She cooed at him, grabbing his face and nuzzling her nose to his.

Damn, I missed this little fatty, Pyro rumbled affectionately, and Quinn nodded in agreement. "This is where we're gonna be staying for a bit, bud," she whispered, to which Groucho let out a distinguished cracking meow.

She stood there while Quinn dealt blow after blow, feeling as if someone were stabbing her over and over again with no regard for her vital organs. Which was likely, considering the glass was begging to be released from her skin. To dice Quinn up like a plate of cheeses presented at a dinner party. She wanted to curl up in a ball and beg her to stop, say anything at all to make her stop. Her heart beat faster with every insult flung her way until her temper chilled. The calm before the storm. But it wasnt her, not really anyways.

Her eyes started glowing eerily, as if this were a horror movie begging to happen. Glass started ripping through her skin, splattering blood on the walls in small droplets of crimson. Like rubies sparkling in the moonlit room. She looked as if she were about to rage before she just stopped, glass receding eyes stopping their glow. "I wish you wouldnt say things like that." She said, lowering her eyes and making her way towards the door. She didnt even notice Quinn run to the door, opening the door and climbing up the building. She was gone in an instant, no sound, nothing.

But as she sat in a chair on the balcony of her own apartment, waiting for the sun to rise, her mind was anything but quiet. Flashes of arguments, things being thrown. And all she knew was, she was staying away from Quinn. It was rare someone cracked through her seemingly careless shell, and she refused to let it happen again.

Quinnlin didn't even notice the demon leaving, she was so focused on her old cat. She cooed at him, petting his back and scratching his ear. "How was the trip, buddy? You hungry?" The feline meowed, a horrible sound, really, and she grinned. She stood up and turned to the kitchen, swallowing down the terror that bubbled up in her throat. I'm not close to the stove I'm not close to the stove I'm not close to the stove, she repeated in her head, trying to take deep breaths. She eyed both the microwave and the gas stove (why did it have to be gas?) warily as if they both might spontaneously combust.

Grabbing the can of cat food she had asked previously to be put in her room, she pried it open and dumped it into Groucho's bowl, shoving one of his pills in it. "There you go, dummy," she cooed affectionately, placing the bowl on the floor, smiling as he waddled over and began scarfing the food down. "Damn, it's like they didn't even feed ya. Poor guy." She shrugged, before glancing over her shoulder to the microwave.

We should unplug it, Pyro rumbled. Quinn nodded in agreement. "Yeah, yeah... good idea."

She inched her way over, scooting around the stove, and without touching the microwave, unplugged it. As it shut off, she let out a breath that she didn't even know she was holding. "There, all better," she said, sighing. She still kept her difference from the stove, however, scowling at it as she shimmied past. Quinn made her way to her room, scratching Groucho's ear as she passed, before flopping onto her bed. "Finally," she murmured, sighing heavily. "Peace and quiet."

Where's the other girl?

"Don't know, don't care. Too tired," she mumbled, before falling asleep. Soon, she was letting out heavy snores, mouth dangling open.
