fellow anxiety havers, what obscure things do you dislike?

Posted 2022-03-20 11:48:15
cars, period, i am nervous while driving or in them, and so i am a very cautious driver
public transport as well
stairs as well
eye contact (i have autism)
dirty floor (messy desk is fine but i hate a dirty floor)

finally if people stand too close. it's also like noticeably uncomfortably close-- if i shift an inch and i'm touching you, unless it's an emergency or the situation calls for it, you're standing too close and it will make me SO uncomfortable

oh, yea, i can't stand eye contact either (also autism).
also same on being the first to anything. i hate doing that. i will not do that.
being around people who are my superior makes me tense, too. like a professor or something, for example.
also had a bad experience at the doctor this past week so now i hate doctors too.

My weirdest one is probably my touch hypersensitivity due to the autism. The clothing I can wear is limited. Can't be too stiff, or have a rough texture, or those short sleeves that ride up in your armpits. Needless to say I don't care about clolors/patterns and just wear stuff until it falls apart to avoid shopping.

New technology that changes people's behavior. No I will not talk to a machine as if it's a person. Still haven't trained myself to recognize that people just sitting their with their hands down could have something in their ear and be in a conversation. Went up to a guy the other day after a car crash to ask if he needed help. He turned around with his arms folded and was like, "No, I'm talking to 911 right now." I feel old.

I don't like being around loud or sad people I get incredibly stressed and need to bury myself in cats for the rest of the day

Cats are a refreshing stress relief after working in the dog kennels all day. Wish more of the animals we boarded were cats. So quiet, at least until they make a game of throwing their toys against the wall.

A particular one for me is cameras. My mom installed a security camera in the backyard and I genuinely am never going there again because of it. No joke. If I consciously consider security cameras when not in a crowd I get uncomfortable. Also being in vicinity of people's phone camera views. Online school was hell for my camera fear. It exacerbated my anxiety about being watched because I'd be forced to share my screen while working and also my camera. In general being watched is a common fear but it's very bad with me.

Also sensory things because of my autism include anywhere I can't VERY clearly hear another person's voice.  As well as classic things like eye contact and clothes that feel too... cumbersome? Like if they affect my movement range like a heavy coat I need to get it off indoors.

Oh yes, also loud sudden noises. While I imagine most people would quickly get over them, I'm upset about it for at least 10 minutes after. Like, visibly I might be panting. Other than anxiety, they also bring me unusual amounts of anger.

The only silly ones I have are:
• Uncovered windows or thin curtains, specifically at night.
• Walking down a dark hallway or basement stairs prompts the 'oh my god you're going to be attacked' twinge for some reason.
• Birdsong at night. What are you doing?? Go to bed.
• Silence in general, I get wildly uncomfortable when all of the various house and neighborhood noises decide to stop at once and it's just me and my dumb lizard brain.
• The 'I am going to puke on your shoes' cat yowl specifically, though is that anxiety? :p

For me:
Loud, sudden noises
People scraping their teeth against silverware when they eat(how is that even comfortable? Your teeth are scraping against metal! You have lips for a reason)
Large crowds
Wind in my face
Eye contact(autism go brr)
