Newbie Question (Stats)

Newbie Question (Stats)

Hello! I'm fairly new and I have a question about increasing your wolf stats. I saw what the statistics are and what roles they're useful for.

My understanding is my wolves gain stats by leveling up, so sending them out on hunts and herbalist/foraging for example is good. As well as pups through pup training and apprentices. It appears Newly Befriended Wolves have a randomized statistic within a certain range?

If my lead wolf levels up, will they meet higher-stat wolves in Explore?

My question is what's the best way to increase your wolves' stats? Would you simply breed the higher stat wolves within the pack, breed to studs sometimes, etc?

Hello, ill try sharing any info i have that may help on these questions :)

To increase your stats for your wolves levelling them up is the best way to do so generally, because every time your wolf levels up it gains double that of the wolfs level, for example if your wolf levels up to level 6, it would gain 12 stats points total, level 7, 14 stat points total etc. For a total of 420 stat points if you manage to get a wolf to level 20.

However sending your wolves out on jobs can increase your stats by a lot as well, with the best stat increases happening in hunting from what ive found, due to it allowing for a total of 5 wolves to increase their stats at a time upon completing a hunt, (doesn't have to actually catch the prey for an increase to happen) whereas other jobs only allow for one wolf at a time as theres no other group jobs. Although you would have to be very active in sending your wolves on jobs to see any serious stat increases.

Also yes breeding higher stat wolves together helps a lot to have higher stat wolves, as although you can increase even a 200 stat wolf to 700+ stats in its lifetime if you play enough, having pups that start at a higher stat total like 400, and the fact they can also get training when they are young further increasing that amount, is crucial to making very high stat wolves. There's a more in depth explanation of the stats a pup would be born with depending on their parents here:  https://www.wolvden.com/chatter/topic/142809

For the other things uh, my lead wolf is level 20 and although i think you can find higher stat wolves as your level increases, its not too much of an increase and i still often find wolves that are about 200 stats, oh and also side note for the pup training, if you want to maximize a pups training the wolf training the pup will have to have much higher stats for the pup to get the best stats possible, i think the wolf has to have about 1.5X of the stat its training the pup, so if you were training a pup in agility with the pup having 100 stats, the teacher would have to have 150+ agility stats.
