1: There's no feature to "adopt" another players pups directly from them, you can buy them if they were to put them up for trade in the trading centre where anyone can buy them, or you can make a private trade with the player and decide on a price. Although you cannot trade a pup that has not been weened yet (at 0 years and 2 1/2 months old). And also as a side note there IS a way to adopt pups later on, though not from specific people, but you'll have to have logged in a total of at least 30 days before you unlock that quest. 2: Specific personalities do not affect your hunters performance, however you do have to make sure that all of your hunters in the team have compatible personalities, otherwise they will clash while on hunts and lose the prey, here's a more thorough guide on personalities and which match. https://www.wolvden.com/chatter/topic/515691 3 and 4: Both are features you will soon unlock as you keep completing the starter quests found from the snake at the crossroads.
