💰✨Lowering the GC price!✨💰

Posted 2022-07-19 00:29:16 (edited)
In my personal opinion, 400 SC is perfectly fair. There is a reason I think so. Every GC in the game right now had to be payed for by a player. Someone spent their irl money on this wolf game currency. I am only buying it secondhand with a currency that has no real backing, SC. This can basically be infinitely generated and it's only become easier to obtain. Through player trades or otherwise, because there aren't many SC sinks, but many GC sinks taking it out of circulation.

I also remember when the GC price was about 700 SC for a GC back when the Relaxed pose dropped and all the GC trades got bought out. However, everyone also balked at the prices and refused to buy. Now, months later, the price has stabilized to about 300-400 it seems(albeit a bit higher on that spectrum than before Relaxed). That may be the price that it's staying for a good while. No GC is going to sell for 1k or 4.5k at this time.
I could list a NBW with no marks for 100 GC. It would not change that NBWs are next to worthless. No one will actually buy my trade.

Gold cones are too rare in this era, DOWN WITH HIGH PRICES, UP WITH LOW ONES!

@[59584] I have to agree with you- it lowers the value of actual irl money, prices being lower is only gonna make it more rare to get because people won't buy it anymore because it won't be worth it
I can understand where others are coming from, with wanting it lower, I used to be like that too- and so I understand any frustration
But I think 400~ sc is perfectly fair, in my opinion
It's not super expensive and it's not so cheap that it's not worth it to buy gc
It's a nice balance

The reason the GC price has gone higher is because nowadays there are more ways to get SC, which makes GC less rare, so in order to maintain rarity, they up the SC price. If you complete all your snake quests and go fishing, you could easily make a GC a day, like you could back then. And I agree, right now it's not too expensive.

I totally understand what you're saying, but there are also people out there who are using ever scrap of that SC that they earn to provide for their growing packs, which leaves them with less wiggle room to use it for anything else. If anything, I think maybe the admins should make a set exchange rate based on the max amount of SC you can get in a day without factors that require luck, like raffles/lottery/etc, minus what the average player uses to buy food/amusement/nesting/etc, and then get the result.

Adding more SC to the game will just increase the amount of SC people want for each GC. Because it makes SC easier to get than GC which increases the amount in circulation. I understand newer players use more SC than older players (since eventually expansions switch to gc), but if more ways to easily get sc are added, they will continue to struggle. It'll make grove items even harder to get for non paying players, as well as other features that take gc like stud requests.

Adding more things to spend SC on is actually what lowers the SC/GC price long term. Since more people want SC, they go to trade their gc for SC. When selling a gc, you want the trade that gives you the most SC. But as people buy out those trades, the SC they get from their GC will be less. And both the sc -> gc and gc -> sc price will drop.

Not to mention that slowly getting SC is the best thing for new players in this game. It keeps you from expanding your pack too quick, to the point you cannot care properly for your wolves. If your pack is too big to provide for, that is an example of this. Genuinely it means you need to cut down on the number of wolves you have.

Gc would be too cheap, like lioden its expensive and its suppose to be.

I agree with @💎 Lunar 💎. The thing a lot of people seem to be ignoring in this thread is that GC is a premium currency used for premium things. You don't need it to play the game and you should work in order to get it. Either spend real money, grind or simply play for a longer period of time. Also making GC easier to get would inevitably lower it's value which in turn makes items GC prices go up in the TC and the only things that would be easier to get would be the grove items but the rest of the economy wouldn't change that much as the buying power of GC lowers. I would assume with my very limited knowledge of how economies work... This also means the real money value of it would go down and disincentivize people from buying it.

As for the problems sustaining a pack like a lot of people have said it might just mean you're expanding too quickly. This is not a quick game to play unless you want to spend money or a lot of time. If you're competitive I can imagine that being quite annoying - and I've seen people talk about the problems with that elsewhere - but since I pretty much just focus on my own projects and pack I have no tips for that. There are however multiple groups and discussion boards specifically for helping others with food/amusement/space/medicine that might be useful to make sure your wolves don't leave and help you with saving up to eventually get the shiny new things you want to get.

A lot of folks in this thread want to spend 75-100 SC for 1 GC, but are you willing to recieve that amount if you were to choose to sell GC? That's a big problem I'm seeing in the trading center and I honestly have not much doubt that this thread contributes a lot to that problem. The same people offering 300 or less sc for 1 gc are also offering their gc for upwards of 500 sc each. Make it make sense.

Also, it's not that hard to make SC. I've spent some money on GC myself, but nearly all of it went towards buying applicators for my Clan. I started this game with the intention to not spend as much as I have on Lioden, and I've only been active for the past few months. I'd consider myself reasonably wealthy for a new player. If you play the fishing game, max out your Melvin missions, sell a couple medicines or herbs fairly, you can effectively make 1-3 GC worth of SC daily.
I understand some folks have lives that don't align with being able to spend a ton of time on a wolf game- and that's OK. Unfortunately that just simply means you are not going to (easily) be as rich as someone who spends 6-8 hours on the game throughout the day.

Managing my pack as a new player was hard, and the larger your pack grows, the more you have to outsource and make purchases from other players in order to upkeep. However the issue when I first started wasn't money- though that was an issue- the real reason my pack was struggling was because I was rolling over when I knew I didn't have the time nor energy to hunt/scout/explore enough that day to keep up with my packs needs. And I had too many puppies/adols. That is fundamentally a player-specific problem, not an issue with currency rates.

I type all this to say that the GC rates are going to evolve quickly. Wolvden may only be a few years old, but Lioden is nearly 12, and the devs now have a massive amount of experience in creating a virtual economy. I'd say it's reasonable to expect the costs of items and currency to fluctuate rapidly, and with how many ways we currently have to earn SC, I think 400:1 is an excellent and fair ratio. If anyone ever needs tips on good, cheap, and fair ways to make a few bucks, feel free to DM me and I'll be happy to discuss my experiences with you.
