A Leader's Questions...

Posted 2022-10-10 06:10:32
"The only rules we have regarding that is that the potential mates mustn't be family, whether near or distant"
The Spotted Leader turns her head, and tilting her head to one side, asks to no one in particular:
"How many second in command/betas/deputies do you have, if any?"
She settles down, cleaning her forepaw , ears pricked.

Pozlatena Koja had heard of this place and was thrilled to be here, sitting among great leaders. She could barely containe her excitement as a leader addressed a question to her, at least she thought the question was directed at her. "I have one beta, but as our pack is rather big we have a head hunter and a head pupsitter as well."

She gave her massive black wings a shake and considered what would be a good question to ask before putting one to the next leader.
"How often does your pack travel? Or do you stay in one biome?"

Lustre, a silver-coloured wolf, would happily answer the question, "The Northward Shores used to be a nomadic pack when it was once called the Daylight Sun. Through an entire decade, we went from the Deciduous Forest to the Prairies, then back to the Deciduous Forest and then to the Riparian Woodland." He would suddenly stop to avoid stumbling over his words and rambling. Something he was known to do. Shaking out his pelt to clear his thoughts, Lustre continued more calmly, "When Soul died, Morning brought the pack up north and throughout her reign, she headed further and further until the pack reached the Tundra." He would glance towards the northern horizon. "I decided that we wouldn't leave. The pack has no need to, as we are all happy and settled down for once. That is why I changed our name. To signify that we finally found our, hopefully, forever home," Lustre gave a smile to Pozlatena Koja once he finished his spiel.

Getting up from where he was sitting, he looked for the next leader to continue the line of questions. When he found one, Lustre went over to them and asked, "Does your pack have any celebrations? A custom, perhaps, that is held at a certain point each year? If you do, what is it, and why do you celebrate it?"

"Yes. During the summer months we host a huge festival. It's deeply rooted within our religion but it also welcomes the return of readily available prey, which is hard to come by considering it's winter for 3/4 of the year here." She paused for a moment, licking her lips before speaking again. "Does your pack follow any deities?"

Lightning Crown nodded. "The pack follows many deities, organized into courts. There are four major courts: Sun, Moon, River, and Below. Most of the spirits we worship fall into one of the major courts."
She turned to the next wolf and asked:
"How do you organize your pack? Do you organize by rank or age, or something else?"

Bloodstone tilted to her head to the side, "We order the pack by role, however it is currently a little messy."

She paused, turning to face a wolf that was sitting across from her. "What biome would you most like to live in, or do you like your current one?"

Bloodstone met the face of the large, but soft-eyed male with stormy fur sitting next to her.

"That's an excellent question!" Said Deftmark. "At the moment, we are currently residing in the Deciduous Forest. We have been considering moving to other territories, such as the Riparian Woodland or the Taiga. But at the moment, we are quite content with where we are."

Deftmark curled his tail around his paws, as turned to address some of the other leaders gathered around him. "We are still quite new to the territory, so I was curious --- how would you deal with another wolf or group of wolves intruding in your territory? Would you immediately try to drive them out? Or would you prefer a more diplomatic approach?"

"Additionally, what if a group of wolves came to you in winter on the brink of starvation, and plead for your aid? Would you do your best to try and help them, even if it meant some of you had to go hungry temporarily? Or would you prioritize the needs of your own pack?"

"My pack holds the most importance to me. Starving mongrels can fend for themselves," Abbigale stretches her wings and hits the next Alpha in the ace. She does not care. "How do you deal with poorly behaved pups? Punish them? Kill them? Let that live?"

Calopteryx shrugged, blinking at the winged alpha. She was... intimidating, seemed like a fairly strict alpha from her demeanor and the question she'd asked. "We've rarely had any problems along those lines — our packs a larger one, and there are plenty of pupsitters and wolves without roles to watch over pups and keep them entertained." The airglow couldn't help but smile slightly as they spoke about their pack. It was obvious that they were proud of their home and the friends and family they had. "When pups do get the wrong ideas, though, we usually try to let them realize their errors by themselves and will give them chores and extra lessons as punishment. We would never... kill them." The thought disgusted Calopteryx, if they were being completely honest. They'd killed prey and predators and rivals before, but never a pack mate... and they had never liked being violent to begin with. "Most of our pups are sent to the Enclave once they wean, anyways... I suppose our children would have difficulty being rebellious with twenty pupsitters for every pup." Laughing softly, they turned to the next alpha. "How is your camp set up? How many dens do you have, and how do you divide them?" They asked with a flick of their tail. It was something they'd been curious about, as they'd recently rearranged their whole layout.

//whooops, this is super long..//

Blythe had arrived among the gathering wolves midway through Calopteryx's response, long limbs carried him through the clearing as he sought after a spot of his own. The melanistic wolf settled comfortably onto the grass, ears perked and eyes bright with curiosity.

Upon realizing Calopteryx was speaking about puppies, Blythe quickly grew bored - having zero interest in the well-being or handling of the tiny lives. It was only when the Alpha began speaking to him, that Blythe focused on the conversation once more.

"I got a hundred an' thirty-three wolves to look after an' we're livin' in the grasslands, so we ain't hidin' out in some fancy cave or up in the trees like some of y'all. This means camps gotta be set up organized and efficient. Most my folk got their own dens, but I got 'em separated into ten sections. What they do and how important I think they are, determines which section of dens they get to live in, but every single one of 'em is playin' a part in keepin' my pack together an' fed." His southern drawl only added to how much he stood out against the other leaders.

Blythe's azure eyes quickly looked over the surrounding wolves until he found someone worthy enough. "You. You got anyone in your pack that you secretly can't stand? Any members you hate an' can't stand even lookin' at 'em an' just wish you could get rid of, but they're too important to lose?"
