Fee for posting raffle

Fee for posting raffle

Ooh this one's gonna have mixed opinions, I can feel it, but I want to throw it out regardless

I suggest a VERY small fee imposed on players hosting a raffle (think 10-20 silver cones)

Suggestion by Katie that I think works really well with this: Another aspect to it that might work is make it a deposit. It's 10 sc- but you get it back if your raffle runs as it's supposed to and you don't cancel.

Why?
-the big one for me; It will weed out the "single silver cone" "One herb" raffles that clog the pages so much, and just get in the way of any raffles worth joining

- Less canceled raffles. The amount of raffles I join that end up canceled very shortly after is insane, a small fee would at least encourage players to make sure they're comfortable with the raffle they're posting, rather than having hundreds of players throwing out raffles and ending them shortly after (I'm guilty of it too, so no judgement here, but a fee might help mitigate this)

-Should be easy to add coding-wise

cons
- players who host raffles often might not like the fee, hence why I suggest it be VERY small (just enough to stop the ridiculous "one sc" type raffles) but otherwise I don't see any downsides

Please read this before commenting!
This is NOT a suggestion made with the intent of stopping/lessening cancelled raffles, I listed that since I see it as a possible side effect of a fee, but PLEASE don't go off on a tangent and try and come up with ways to lessen cancelled raffles (on my post at least, feel free to make your own suggestion post ofc)

I think it's a good idea. Another aspect to it that might work is make it a deposit. It's 10 sc- but you get it back if your raffle runs as it's supposed to and you don't cancel.

But even if you don't agree with my suggestion I like yours!

However, I don't think there is anything wrong with the one sc raffles. They're silly, but harmless. People enter them as a laugh and there's nothing wrong with that.

Cancelled raffles are the main issue why players avoid participating in them. Even though tickets are refunded, the players find it exhausting joining next raffles that could be cancelled on the host's whim. If the raffle is weak, they don't join because not worth. If the raffle is great, they don't join either because they think the raffle is gonna get cancelled most likely.

Raffles asking for items can be even more wicked. If you purchase/craft items for tickets and you don't use them for any other purpose (e.g. Custom Decor Creator when you're not an artist), you might end up being disappointed when you're refunded with junk which you purchased/crafted from precious currency/materials.

I think the suggested fee won't make much influence. Hosts usually cancel raffles when stuff gained from tickets doesn't cover the value of prizes. If you raffle event base app and get only 10 GC from tickets, would the fee stop you from cancelling the raffle? Also, there are variously wealthy players and the fee is like nothing for the richer part of the community.

I think there should be an option to lock raffles from being cancelled manually if they don't contain wolves. Raffles that are guaranteed not to be cancelled are more reliable and participants might feel encouraged to invest into them.

oooh Katie I love that idea sm, added it to the post

I think that ups the incentive to finish your raffle by a LOT since even if it's a small fee, you get it back as a small reward for pulling through and doing your promised raffle

I'd like to add seeing some of the additions here: this is NOT first and foremost, a method of trying to stop cancelled raffles, I just listed that as a possible side effect
You all have good ideas and concepts, but they are not at all what I'm aiming for with this suggestion, I'm aiming to stop the small "spam" raffles that have ridiculously low prizes, and clog the feed with raffles no person is gonna want to partake in

I love the ideas you guys are having, and I am not trying to bash y'all at all, but just asking that people don't try and run with this suggestion the wrong way, or try and find alternative methods for cancelled raffles, since that's not my main intent whatsoever

Apologies if I didn't make that clear enough in the original post, but please future commenters, try and refrain from going off on the "less cancelled raffles" tangent

I'll edit the main post real quick to try and make it slightly more clear since I see where y'all got your ideas from

Also another reply to what Katie said: they can be funny sometimes! I will admit a few of them are humorous, but from what I've been seeing there's also been MANY made that are just plain stupid, and they're starting to get overdone to the point it's just a drag to sift though the really pointless raffles
