Alright so I just finished and I have to say I am completely in love with the whole event/storyline! Personally I opted out of sacrificing my own pups and the ending was utterly heartbreaking but also left a lot of good potential sequel material...

Compared to my experience coming from Lioden, I felt like this event totally blew everything else out of the water in terms of overall aesthetics and emotional stakes. I might be biased though, since it happens to fit really well with my (admittedly not so fleshed out) personal lore

For those who chose to give up your pups/tc fodder: How did it go? Was it sad?
(Watching Maeve give up her own pups in the hope of seeing Lowen again completely broke my heart, so I hope the rest of you had a happier outcome... )

For everyone: How did you decide which option to choose? Was it purely based on the end result? (Moss vs Clover base)
Or did you decide based on your lore and/or personal feelings?
(For me it was a combination.. lorewise theres no way my lead would have opted for that, even though he wanted to help these strangers, but also I like Moss way more.. so it worked out. I'd love to hear from anyone who had a conflict of interest here though! Which path swayed you?)

Also for everyone: I'd love to hear your thoughts on what you think (or hope!) will happen next year!
Are you hoping for an exact repeat (giving everyone a chance to pick the other route), or a continued story?
Do you have any predictions based on what you saw this year?

I feel like there were a lot of loose ends which I hope will get expanded on next year... (Heres to hoping for the safe return of Lowen!~)

Although I did really want the clover base I intentionally did not look at the spoiler in the News Post because I did not want my choice in the end to be influenced I considered letting Maeve give up her puppies because of two reasons one I didn't have any young puppies and two I didn't want to spend the SC in order to buy new ones but then I thought what if she doesn't get Lowen back it would have all been for nothing so I spent the SC and sent my own puppies (well fodder)

In the end I did get the base applicator I wanted so luck was on my side and I was happy with the ending even though the other wolves didn't come back

I loved everything about this event right from the start I am also coming from Lioden and I did find this event so much more with so much potential I've already predicted it will probably be my favorite event (But I am a sucker for all things celtic) I agree I totally got the Vibes this story would be continued in future events

An interesting thought on that matter if they did a continuation next year it would be different for everyone depending what ending they chose this year would you be helping Maeve get revenge or would you just be trying to free the trapped wolves
I can wait to see what they do

Heyo! First of all, great topic. Love the thoughts and questions presented.

I wanted any green base, but also have an aggressive leader. She is quite bossy and selfish so I knew she would not take on another wolf's problem. The outcome did make her pause. She is young, no pups as of yet (no younger siblings to feel protective of either). This crisis gave the lead wolf some much needed experience.

Moss is fine 'n like my lady says, both are great in their own way. I will say I had no issue reading the spoiler for knowledge tho', especially since I do have a preference toward how Moss is done.

I did not start with Lioden. I heard about Wolvden from friends of mine. That said, I quite enjoyed the more story-driven Coigreach than the combat-heavy Lunar Event. I read most of the story aloud to my lady.. I'd like to say both of us enjoyed Coigreach!

I agree on there being loose ends, prime for a potential sequel. I definitely do not mind chances for more green bases. All the green!! I am fine with whatever they choose to create for us to explore. Love the art, the characters, the story, the all of it!

I read the hint in the News post, even though I wanted the Moss base I couldn't bring myself to let Maeve sacrifice her own pups. So I ended up with Clover (though I did manage to swap bases later).

I was kinda surprised that that was the ending though, because there are so many loose ends! What about all those wolves that disappeared? They're just gone. There's no indication that they're gonna resolve this before the event is over, which I can see the appeal of an ending like that, it just leaves me a little unsatisfied.

For that reason, I'd kinda want a direct sequel, but it would have to be set somewhat in the future. Since presumably, the continuation of this story would be next November, a whole real life year passed. For folks that regularly rollover, the lead wolf they had for the first event is gonna be dead and gone LONG before the second event can happen. So it would be weird to have the same characters, since you'd reason that they would all be gone too.

Which loops around to me being unsatisfied at the ending! Cuz in my monkey brain, all those wolves in explore are just never gonna find who they're looking for. That poor wolf whose looking for his son will spend the rest of his life searching in vain, unless maybe there's a December event that ties into it (though that doesn't seem likely).

So hopefully my rambling made some sense, but regardless this event was really neat! Interesting story, cool stuff in the shop, new encounters in explore (especially that one wolf with the clover in his mouth, I like that wolf lol)

I loved the storyline! I didn't read the hint, I went with my gut feeling and refused to give up any pups. I actually felt quite emotional when Maeve gave up hers, I didn't expect that. I really hope we get a part 2 next year, I want to meet these characters again!

I ended up sacrificing my own pups. Originally I was gonna refuse as I couldn't imagine my lead willingly giving up his family (ESPECIALLY since the only pups I have at the moment are his own grandkids) but...I couldn't make Maeve give up her pups despite what she says if you refuse the first time. I was going completely blind and knew nothing of the rewards, so it was 100% based on personal feelings and the story.

Now I guess it's time to headcanon the fallout for that decision.

As for next year, honestly I do hope we get a continuation! I want to know what happens with Maeve and her pups, and all the other lost wolves. And it'd be interesting to see if the pups you give up actually come back? (Might be difficult bc of the branching options but even a vague wolf silhouette/implication would be enough for me.)

I was really unwilling to sacrifice my own pups, so I adopted some from the enclave and gave them up. Had the Clover base been the result of letting Maeve leave her own pups, I would've opted for that choice!
I enjoyed the storyline, but I was genuinely surprised when my lead left "her own pups" and everyone had an "Oh no! Anyways..." moment. Everyone's lack of concern for my lead's sacrifice disappointed me a little! I'd love to get a continued story next year, however.

I looked at the spoiler and then looked at how the bases looked to make my decision.  I let Maeve give up her pups.  I liked the moss base better, and my experience on Lioden says this event will very likely come back next year as it is, so there's no harm in going for the base I liked better.  I also kind of hoped it might have a different outcome of giving living pups verses unborn pups, because that seems like it should have made a difference.  Oh well.  I find that dynamic of the event to have been spectacularly odd.

For next year, I'm hoping for lioden style daily quests for rewards.  Something like exploring more caves, collecting the Coigreach exclusive herbs, bringing food/herbs for the other characters, or something.  I'm not expecting a sequel or continuation, due to my lioden experience.  I expect that next year the event will repeat rather than progress, to let the players who have joined since then play out the event.  Maybe there will be nods to it in other events (explore encounter of Maeve still looking for Lowen, most likely) but I don't think any event will be a direct sequel to this one.

In my (albeit limited) web-based sim game like this, there are two different ways events are done - annual and unique.  As Wolvden has implied many times that it plans to run regular month long events like Lioden has, I can't imagine them making different things every year.  12 new events each year with new art, new rewards, and new encounters is just way too much work.  It's usually easier and more productive to just re-use and expand on the events already made.  Those sites that run more unique events, those are usually one time events that can range between a week or so to several months long, depending on how complex they make it.  Those tend to be few and far between because of how much work is put into them, and usually the game is not designed to support those game functions indefinitely.

I did not look at the spoiler.

I refused to give up my pups or any other pups. I tried to persuade Maeve not to give up her pups either. I was willing to look at other solutions rather than sacrificing the innocent on a theory.

@timber - Wait -- where did they imply they were going to run regular month long events like Lioden? Because that would suck a lot :( I tried to play Lioden a month ago and got overwhelmed with the idea of there being a month long event every month, with no breaks in between.

It means I'd either have to miss out on content and wait an entire year for it to come back, or burn myself out trying to catch up to everything by the end of the month.
