i apologize in advance if this is a dumb question, but for the "explore five caves" portion of the event, are the caves supposed to be a random encounter in explore or? i've been exploring any chance i get the last two days and haven't had a single cave interaction appear, so im just wondering if it's just a really low rng thing or if im just doing something wrong

You want to find the Wisp encounter with the Follow option. It takes you to the cave that gives out Large Smoky Quartz Chunks. Each time you complete the encounter you get 1 point towards the cave quest. It only shows up at night so it could be you're exploring only in the day. Look for the middle symbol under the time/date to be a moon as that means it night. You can also see when the time of day changes in the cooldowns page (click on the arrow next to your username on the top banner).

I used to find 5+ in a day, now I'm not finding any.  I don't know if the RNG is just bad or what

I've noticed what seems to be a drop in the encounter as well I've been exploring almost solely at night for three days and have only found 4 so far 		KalikaRoo31

Before the encounter was needed for the event, I found it all the time, but now that it's required, I've also only found 4 caves in like 3 days.

Hearing that other people have struggled with finding the caves makes me feel better about what's going on. I thought I was doing something wrong.

i managed to finally find all the caves - it's just getting lucky with the rng pretty much
