Another user, who I am making this post on behalf of, has stated that despite having site animations turned off in their settings, images flashing in Explore have made them feel unsafe due to their photosensitive epilepsy. I don't have epilepsy so I offered to investigate what they were seeing. The specific issue they were having, was the scenery unloading and reloading in Explore when the time of day changes (such as from dawn to daytime). I used OBS to record a short video of what happens when I use Explore during a change of the time, and then broke the video into still images so they could look at it safely and confirm if it was the same phenomenon. They confirmed that it is, while pointing out that they use light mode, which potentially makes the effect much more egregious. I made another recording of the phenomenon with light mode on to confirm. The set of screenshots I sent to the other user The video the screenshots are from A second video recorded with light mode on I personally wouldn't have noticed the effect if it hadn't been pointed out to me first, but I trust this other user when they say that on a bad day it can have the potential to trigger an attack. It seems that the other user has found some relief from changing to dark mode. Following this, I have a couple of suggestions; -Place a static black box behind the Explore frame that does not unload during a scene change, or -Make dark mode the default display mode for Wolvden, or -Make the ability to change to dark mode more obvious on the user profile page, or bring attention to it at some point during the tutorial Hopefully something can be done. Either way, thank you very much for your time. :) |
