[ADDED] Allow More Biomes To Be Kept Open When Lead Passes

Posted 2022-01-10 03:38:29
I think it's rather silly that the lead wolf dies but somehow, as a pack, they all INSTANTLY  forget the biomes they've explored for months. Support on my end!  I think it's a little odd we'd lose all that progress.  At the very least, give us ONE of the harder ones open; it's such a pain leveling for rainforest and glacier as it is.

Especially if the only wolf with 100+ stats in the required field is dead and you can't do anything for months trying to level for a wolf.

For me as a stat breeder, it's more beneficial to have undiscovered areas than fully scouted ones. Bonus stats, those +1s and +2s which adult wolves get from performing tasks, each one having the same chance for bonus stat gain, are gained in the fastest way doing 10% scouting.

For comparison, when I have fully scouted areas:
  • the best bonus stat gain is acquired by hunters, spending 30 minutes + 20% energy for hunting, max 10 tasks daily;
  • another reliable way to gain bonus stats, best alternative for hunters who reached the daily limit of tasks, is pup training, where the wolf spends 60 minutes + 20% energy for each untrained pup;
  • re-scouting is the least reliable way to gain bonus stats because it's always 100 minutes + 100% energy for scouts to get a single chance to gain a bonus stat, the same chance as 1 hunt or 1 pup training.
When my lead dies, I have a bunch of undiscovered areas which are a mine of bonus stats. After taking 60 minutes + 60% energy to discover a biome, I can choose future or retired hunters as scouts who take 10 minutes + 10% energy to do 10% scouting, which gives as much chance for a bonus stat as any other task.

Knowing that 5% energy is regenerated every 7½ minutes, it takes 7 hours 30 minutes to exhaust the daily hunt limit for hunters to gain the same chance of bonus stat boost as scouts by actively doing 10% scouting for 4 hours 10 minutes and the scouts can scout even more in the fastest way as long as there are areas not fully scouted to carry on such short scouting missions.

Performing 10% scouting disables scouts from gaining the best EXP by re-scouting Glacier/Rainforest. However, the best EXP is not the priority for stat breeders who have alternative ways to get wolves to level 20 which is hunting in the most challenging biome. The priority is the bonus stats which lets the wolf end up higher in the leaderboard than the siblings and wolves from the same start.

Introducing any of the proposed suggestions would be a hindrance to some stat breeders as it would mean we'd get less undiscovered areas after changing leads which means less 10% scouting we could perform to maximize bonus stat gain for low time cost.

@Dżanek- You make some really good points. I hadn't even thought about using only 10% energy to scout and potentially gain more stats. I always learn things from your detailed explanations. Much appreciated.
For me that even more reason that I don't support leaving more biomes open after lead dies. I use scouting to get stats already, but that's a different method I'd like to try out when my current lead is replaced.
