Toggleable HTML

Posted 2021-07-27 06:24:32
Making things toggleable would help both sides feel better about things. Can and want to do HTML? Got you. Can't or don't want to? Also got you. Just make the toggle button as obvious as possible so people actually see it and use it.

@Sigyn

I know, I'm just explaining that the old editor has been an issue for a while, so the change isn't just out of nowhere. The way it was done may not have been the best, but it's been talked about since October, so it was gonna happen.

Full support!

Editing posts has been a huge pain in the ass because I understand no code whatsoever. I can't make entries in my trophy diary/R&C log anymore because I'm afraid I'll break it somehow. I'd also like to do stuff with my profile/den pages, but I'd probably fuck those up if I tried anything-

It also gives me headaches from just looking at it ahaha

STRONG support. I feel like this update is catering to people who know how to code (for example: CSS creators) but for casual players it's a horrible mess. I can no longer use my stud bio as a notepad for his stats gain, because it looks like this.

And pasting this image is also a neat example of that, because it gave just < img src= "" > without closing it at the end. I know basic html and I know I have to close it or where to put my URL, but many players don't (and don't need to in order to enjoy the game). I feel like devs did not understand their playerbase with that update. I don't want to scroll past wall of code-text mess just to update my stat gain.

I fully support this! As someone who isn't tech savvy at all, editing a bio or any sort of posts makes me feel like I'm looking at a foreign language someone is asking me to understand without giving me any sort of previous knowledge, or at least a sheet to tell me what is what. I really don't want to put the devs down , especially for this. I know they didn't mean any ill will adding this, and I can understand why they did, however it is a very small, minute, group of players that won't have any issues and have experience with coding. Majority of players are like me, who know nothing of coding and just looking at it stresses me out so much that I don't even bother to mess with anything once finished anymore. I'm not saying HTML is bad or that it shouldn't be on the site, but I am in agreement there should be an option for someone to choose, rather than forcing everyone to use one specific thing that requires at least basic coding knowledge that most of us don't even know, or can truly understand.

Support! I appreciate the effort to improve the editing experience,  but I have no knowledge with coding and i'm frankly not here to learn CSS.
I just want to have fun on his game, and that includes being able to edit my den profile and my forum posts with ease. Having a toggle i think would be great for everybody, people like me and more tech savvy coders included. I have an art shop and a stud thread on the forums and both are a complete mess to look at when I go to edit! I have no idea what I'm looking at and I'm scared to change anything.
I get what this update was aiming for, but many players on this game, myself included, don't have the knowledge, experience or desire to use the CSS format for everything. Having a toggle would be great.

Full support, I just went to update my commissions post for the first time in ages since I've only just got back into drawing, and oh my GOD what the fresh hell is this??
I can't understand or see a thing I need to edit! Not to mention I feel really bad for the people with eyesight issues or things like dyslexia, this just feels like a massive middle finger to any person that doesn't know how to code or isn't able sighted etc.
PLEASE change it back! Otherwise making posts is just going to become a chore.

FULL SUPPORT

It is really a challenge to figure out how to edit anything.

It is driving my CRAZY.

Maybe a "Source Editing Mode" could help (like you see in fandom)?

it's to the point where I'd just rather not comment on things or work on any text boxes because HTML just stresses me out haha !!

Support.

The whole update was nice but the html change was.. overwhelming. I’m barely editing my posts anymore in fear it might mess up and go wonky. Just doing small changes here and there. I hope the html update can be toggleable for both parties.
