Fishing Game Levels?

I recently got into fishing ^^ I had questions; 

1. Do your wolf's stats and/or levels do anything to the fishing game? How big fishes you can catch and all? Does the player do anything to affect, like the more you fish the more luck? Cuz I've been noticing I can get bigger fishes more often, does that mean anything or am I doing anything or can I do anything? 

2. Leaderboard, ah yes the leaderboard... I am nine hours ahead of wolvden time, so my chances are basically a few percent out of getting on the leaderboard permantly as someone who's right in that time zone will just catch up with me if I'm sleeping. Anyways, do you get a notification if you get a prize from the fishing leaderboard like in the lottery they say you get a notification if you get a prize? And however do you stay on the leaderboard without getting caught up when you're sleeping??

1. As far as I know, the only things affecting fishing are time of the day (so day/night/dawn/dusk) and weather (when it rains, there are higher chances of getting better fish iirc)

2. Yes, you get a notification like for the lottery. Or at least I got one when I somehow managed to win something in the weekly leaderboard.

Not really sure about how to stay on the leaderboard... I mean, probably by getting so many fishes that even if other tries to catch up, they can't XD

Thanks, that answers it! I was talking about the daily leaderboard tho, because I'm at a disadvantage; when I go to sleep, people in the wolvden time zone will wake up and can catch up whilst I'm sleeping and I can't do anything about it LOL

Hey, do you know anywhere to read about fishing? Because all the guides I've read are just filling out forms and where to find some certain fishes, which I could contribute in... if I had any idea what I am doing LOL

Thanks for all the tips, it means a lot ^^ I did read the fishing guide from them, but I couldn't focus that day. I can't focus on a lot of things because everyone that writes something knows what they're talking about but I... don't know what they are talking about LOL so yeah maybe I should read it again.
