OOC Thread || Roleplay Thread

In a rural suburb, a collection of local dogs playfully called themselves a pack. Though they were far from such in reality, they ‘patrolled’ on walks, relayed important goings on, and helped one another when they could.

One autumn, the canines began to notice a change on the wind. The older dogs knew this was no ordinary storm, while youngsters could only expect the worst. They waited, unable to eat or sleep. They watched their upright caretakers grab many things in their nests, pack them in their machines, and leave. Either unwilling or unable, they did not take their furry companions along. Some left doors open and pet doors unlocked. Others were left trapped inside, but luckily were able to escape.

The dogs amassed and ran from the uprights’ territory, only able to assume they, too, would be safer fleeing like their masters had. As the storm broke, the makeshift pack found themselves in an open field. The wind ripped at their fur while thunder deafened them. Those with the quickest wit ran for higher ground, and the others followed. They came into a forest and huddled where they could under fallen trees and against broad tree trunks. As hard as it was to sleep, they stayed this way until morning, seeing the storm had finally calmed.

So much rain had come, they returned to see the field more closely resembled a lake. Though some of the dogs were adept at swimming, the water was too broad and could hide anything, alive or inanimate. Now, they have no choice but to relearn their instincts and survive on their own.

.::||Character Creation Rules||::.

  • The standard: no mary sues or overpowered OCs

  • Keep genders even.

  • Only make as many characters as you can handle.

  • No romantic relationships between your own characters.

  • Purebred or mixed breed dogs are allowed, however dogs with hair that would mat, brachycephalic noses, etc. are not simply because they couldn’t survive.

    • No wolves/coyotes/hybrids.

  • Keep appearances semi-realistic.

    • No purple eyes, heart markings, etc.

  • Please make your forms detailed! This is a semi to full literate roleplay and this reflects your roleplaying abilities.

  • No biographies/personalities such as “find out” or “doesn’t talk about it”. You’re welcome to make a character that doesn’t share these things about themself, but this can simply be included in the written facts of your OC.

  • Add your favorite color to your form’s “other” section if you have read all of the rules.

  • Make sure to credit any images you use!

  • No unrealistic, unnecessarily long, or complex names. There is some leeway with this, as I know firsthand how creative people get with naming their pets.

    • Ex. Dragonflame, Murderer, Bird Who Flies At Night, etc.

  • I will PM you to let you know if your character is accepted. Do not post in the roleplay until then!

    • You may PM me to let me know you’ve posted a character if I don’t respond within the day, I can be forgetful.

Basics

Name: Tickles AKA Tee

Age: 4 years 3 months

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Homosexual

Relationships: Red - Father - Pet - Alive

Duchess - Mother - Pet - Alive

Unknown names - Siblings - Pets - Presumed alive

Champagne - Former housemate - Alive

Tate - Former housemate - Alive

Appearance

Description: Tickles is somewhat large for his breed, just under 100 pounds/45 kilograms, with plenty of bone and muscle to his build. He has a square head featuring a long muzzle. Tee's ears are cropped, standing tall above his head. His eyes are atypical for a Doberman's, being very angular and narrow. This gives him a very intense resting expression on top of his already intimidating appearance. His neck is thick and lends power to an already dangerous bite , widening into his broad chest. His legs are column-like with large, compact paws. His tail is docked, and can hinder his ability to communicate. His coat is very short and rough, sporting a rich red color with tan points. His left eye is a pale yellow, but his right turned copper after being injured during the feud with his family.

Skills: Strength, agility, size

Flaws: Social skill, stamina

Scars/Other Features: Several bite marks, one on his muzzle, one on each back leg, and one on his left shoulder, as well as a T-shaped scar on his chest; his right eye is slightly cloudy from physical trauma, also the cause of his heterochromia; and a blue beat up collar that has been stuck around his neck since he left home.

Characteristics

Personality: Tickles's skills lie entirely in survival, and not at all in the social. Years of living in the wild have strengthened his body and given him confidence in his abilities. He has come out of every situation alive, and takes pride in that. Although he is able to disguise most of his weaknesses, Tee has no other cards to play in conversation. Jokes go over his head, and even if he understood them, he would dismiss them as a waste of time. He only speaks when necessary to convey information, resenting how his arrogant parents chattered pointlessly all day long. This comes off as curt or even rude to others who understand social cues. Despite being desensitized to the harshness of feral life, Tickles is merciful. He is not one to turn away a dog in need, though it may be hard for a stranger to trust his gruff demeanor.

Positive Traits: +Confident +Merciful

Neutral Traits: =Hardened
Negative Traits: -Humorless -Abrasive

Biography: Tickles had the fortune of being born into a line of purebred show dobes. Along with all of his siblings, he was raised from birth to exude pride and dominance, while valuing obedience and vigilance above all. Despite his general disinterest in any of these expectations, he was pick of the litter, and so remained while one by one, his siblings were delivered to their new homes. Over time, Tickles became more and more fed up of being shoved into a suffocating box. Why should he do everything he was told, today tomorrow and forever? It all came to a head when one day, his father made a snide remark about finding a female who would put up with Tickles's poor attitude, and the young dog snapped. He couldn't stop himself from retorting that he wasn't interested in a female, anyways. Outrage seethed through Red and he attacked his own son. The other dogs in the yard joined in, and in desperation, Tee jumped the fence. He ran until his young body gave out, and he's never looked back.

Basics

Name: Mutt

Age: 1 year 4 months

Gender: Female

Sexuality: Bisexual

Relationships: Mama Dog- Mother - Unknown status

Unknown - Father - Unknown status

Unknown names - Siblings - Unknown Status

Appearance

Description: Mutt, while being exactly what her name describes, is clearly descended from terriers. Her body is stocky and stout, shrouded in a wiry medium coat. This coat is a mousy gray interspersed with reddish merle patches. Her muzzle and paws sport bright flashes of white. Her jaws are small but strong, quick to dispatch any vermin who cross her path. Her ears are large and semi erect. Her eyes are a surprisingly pale copper, with a striking intensity emphasized by her eyebrows. Her muzzle sports a dashing beard, providing a bit of protection. Mutt is fairly well muscled and lean, due to her solitary life of scavenging. Being a street dog, Mutt’s tail is undocked, her long fur creating an expressive flag behind her.

Skills: Stamina, resilience, speed

Flaws: Size, strength

Scars/Other Features: N/a

Characteristics

Personality: Mutt is a lively and playful young dog. She loves games, and goads anyone she can into playing with her. Although she’s quick to acquaint herself with other dogs, she’s slow to trust anyone due to her past. She is quite clever when she wants to be, but always stubborn. If anyone were to gain her trust again, they would have a lifelong friend. Day to day, Mutt is a happy go lucky little dog who’s excited to have so many more dogs to play with outside.

Positive Traits: +Clever +friendly

Neutral Traits: =Playful

Negative Traits: -Stubborn, -distrustful

Biography: Mutt was born to a stray on the city streets. Her mother never mentioned who their father was, and the pups weren’t interested in finding out. The first few months of their lives, Mama Dog taught Mutt and her siblings how to scavenge in the alleys, and trick uprights into giving them food. When the littermates were almost five months old, a particular upright began coming often and feeding them. Her family hardly questioned it, but Mutt inherited a terrier’s stubbornness, and never trusted it. One day, the upright set out a web-like metal den filled with food. When her family stepped inside, it snapped shut and trapped them. Mutt panicked, barking for help and biting at the metal trap. This went on all night, until the sun began to rise. The upright would be coming soon. Despite the unknown, Mutt’s mother told her to leave them and not to look back. That was the last she saw of her family.

She navigated the alleyways until she ended up on the outskirts of the city, in the suburbs. She had less luck begging and scavenging, and began venturing into the fields beyond. Over the next eleven months, she grew and learned a lot about her surroundings. Mutt was never given a proper name, eventually choosing to go by one of the nicknames the uprights called her by. She even befriended some of the neighborhood dogs, though twice as many butted heads with the scrappy young mongrel. When word of a massive storm spread, she cautiously waited in one of the more covered alleys before following as the other dogs started running.

Character Form

Basics

Name: Light

Age: 7 months

Gender: Female

Sexuality: Lesbian

Relationships:
Mother: Celia | Pet | Purebred Bernese Mountain Dog | Alive
Father: Boom | Stray | Mutt | Presumed alive
Sister: Layla | Pet | Mutt | Alive
Brothers: Grey | Stray | Mutt | Presumed alive \\ Charley | Pet | Mutt | Alive

Appearance

Description: Light is a Bernese Mountain Dog mix with a condition known as vitiligo, causing her coat to be dappled with black, brown, and white. Her muzzle is slim compared to that of a purebred Bernese, but her ears are floppy like her mother's breed. Her coat is of a medium length, long enough to keep Light warm but not so long that it's cumbersome. She has a very rounded appearance due to her fluffy coat, but is rather well-muscled under her fur, meaning she is fairly strong- a trait that wouldn't be apparent from simply looking at Light. The young dog is still growing into her paws and is a bit awkward, sometimes tripping over herself. Overall Light is a good dog with great potential, but it'll take a while for her to grow into it.

Skills: Strength, stamina, observation

Flaws: Stealth, speed, Agility

Scars/Other Features: Vitiligo, of course

Characteristics

Personality: Light is a (no pun intended) light-hearted, innocent dog, practically still a puppy. She's wise beyond her... months though, with high empathy and good reasoning (though she may ignore it if there's a dog in need). She's new to the whole stray survival thing, having learned about stray life from her father but never actually experiencing it hands-on. She's very idealistic, a trait that often annoys veteran street dogs who know that you take care of yourself first, before any other dogs. That's how it works when there's not a human to shelter you your whole life.

Positive Traits: Optimistic | Smart | Loyal

Neutral Traits: "Soft" | Curious
Negative Traits: Pushy | Dependant

Biography:
Light was not exactly meant to exist, at least not in the eyes of her mother's owners, a middle-aged married couple with no children. They had decided not to spay Celia for reasons unknown but were still surprised when she met a stray named Boom and well... suddenly had one pregnant dog and no clue on how to deal with her. They decided to keep the puppies, to the star-crossed lovers' delight, thinking they could always adopt out the pups they didn't want.

These two were new to the world of dog breeding and pregnancies- they miscalculated Celia's due date and she ended up giving birth in an alley behind her owners' house. The couple was very happy with the four puppies but soon realized 5 dogs were a few too many to keep. They invited a friend (a professional Bernese breeder, from who they got Celia) to help them choose which puppies to keep. She looked over the four and ruled that Layla, Light, and Charley were good candidates to keep, but Grey wasn't a desirable dog in looks or personality. Celia was dismayed at the news- she didn't want any of her pups to leave!

As the pups grew Grey became distant from his siblings, knowing her would probably be leaving them anyways. At 5 months old he found a gap under the fence and escaped to go live with his father. The other three pups lived a life of luxury with their mother until the storm began coming. Light was in the alley around back, waiting for her father and brother to come to visit as they had promised. The couple frantically packed their things and grabbed Celia, Layla, and Charley, not noticing that Light was missing. Despite Celia's frantic barking, they sped away- leaving Light very, very alone.

Character Form

Basics

Name: Raya

Age: 1 year, 2 months

Gender: Female

Sexuality: Bisexual Panromantic

Relationships:
January|Mother|Pet|Alive
May|Sibling|Pet|Alive

Appearance

Description: Raya is a fluffy, pure-bred husky with pale blue eyes. She has a rounded body shape with long legs. Her fur is primarily shades of blueish grays and whites.

Skills: Raya, despite spending nearly all of her life inside, is easily able to identify and differentiate scents.

Flaws: She's not the best on her paws, not being used to having to move around so much.

Scars/Other Features: n/a

Characteristics

Personality: Raya is, as you might expect from a husky, very talkative and very loud. That doesn't mean she's good at communication or anything, often saying things that were better left unsaid. Growing up around no other canines, she doesn't know how to read the room or use basic manners.

Positive Traits: Polite, intelligent

Neutral Traits: Talkative, curious
Negative Traits: Snobby, insensitive, naive

Biography: Raya wasn't born how'd one would expect a pure-bred husky to. Her mother, January, had always been owned by an irresponsible breeder, who'd forgotten about the due date. Due to this, January had no assistance during the birthing process, and the majority of the litter had died before they'd even had the chance to open their eyes. Raya and her sister, May, had been the only surviving pups.
Raya and her sister didn't stay with their mother long, and were immediately sold once they had weaned. Raya didn't really mind being separated from her mother, who'd never seemed to care for either sibling. Though, the two were bought by different people, and that was the last time Raya had ever seen her sister.
Raya immediately loved her new owners. The couple had always shown Raya affection she hadn't experienced before then. The pair often spoiled her, giving her expensive treats. Not to mention how big of a house Raya was now staying in, being the pet of wealthy owners. When the two brought home an adoptive child one day, Raya was skeptical. She quickly began to love the girl though, who gave her just as much attention as the parents had.
The night of the storm, the household members were out of town, a petsitter staying home with Raya at the time. The petsitter didn't do much, and occasionally forgot to feed Raya. Though, even Raya didn't expect her to get in her car and drive away without the husky. Raya had known the storm was coming, sure, but she didn't expect it to be as destructive as it was. Bewildered and scared, Raya realized that it'd be better if she searched for higher ground, and fled out the doggy door.

Basics

Name: Mako

Age: 2 years

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Aromantic Asexual

Relationships: Magpie - Mother - Pet - Alive

Robin - Sister - Pet - Alive

Tucker - Housemate - Pet - Alive

Appearance

Description: Mako is a mutt, though he looks quite elegant with proportionally long legs, slim body, and a fairly thin coat. Taking after his mother, his coat is mostly black with one long and thin white stripe running from his nose to the base of his tail, a white spot on the tip of his tail, and three white paws. His front right paw is black like the rest of his fur. Some might say he looks like a skunk, though Mako claims he looks "like a magpie!". In texture, the fur is quite rough and a little curly, though sparse enough to allow him to shed properly and keep somewhat clean.

Due to living a fairly sedate lifestyle until the storm, Mako is quite weak in muscle, appearing almost skeletal during the summer months when his coat is thinnest. His ears are short and pointed, and positioned slightly down the sides of his head, creating the appearance that he is always listening out for predators and prey. Both muzzle and tail are quite thin, though his teeth are sharp and healthy, his one intimidating feature.

Skills: Incredibly fast over short distances, very patient when he needs to be

Flaws: Despite running fast he cannot run at all far, very little strength

Scars/Other Features: None

Characteristics

Personality: Mako is bright and lively, and very sociable towards other dogs. His tail is almost always in a blur when others are around, and he loves to play with every friendly creature he meets. The exceptions to this are birds and humans. Immensely distrusting of uprights, he runs for the hills the moment one appears, or remains as still and silent as possible, ignoring any calls or offers of food they make. For birds, he is another dog entirely: truly and utterly fascinated by them, he will happily spend hours statue-still, listening to their songs and watching them go about their daily business. While mostly not at all picky, Mako refuses to even eat birds, much preferring to watch them at a distance while they're still alive.

Due to his lack of strength, he gives away any of his belongings the moment someone asks for it, and would do what anyone told him to do merely to avoid any confrontation or fighting. Whenever encountering an aggressive creature, his first instinct is to get away as fast as possible, and failing that to try his best to be left alone, either through an offering of food, trying to look unthreatening, and occasionally playing dead if nothing else works.

Positive Traits: Friendly, Patient

Neutral Traits: Curious, Peaceable

Negative Traits: Cowardly, Disloyal

Biography:

Mako was born into a fairly typical family: a mother whose owners would sell weaned puppies for profit, and an unknown father, most likely a stud. Born into an average sized litter, Mako remained behind with his mother Magpie due to the owners deciding to keep one puppy from her final litter as she was growing too old to have any more. They lived a life of luxury, taken well care of and exercised enough to keep the fat off. Mako's sister Robin was sold to their neighbours, and they spent their youth playing together and talking through the fence.

Six months before the storm, a new dog was brought into the house: Tucker, a small white dog with incredibly curly fur. Mako truly loved Tucker. He was a great friend and the two would spend hours playing together, both in the house and while out and about.

However, as the storm approached and his owners packed up their belongings, they took Tucker with them, putting him into a well padded crate and placed oh so carefully within the car. Mako and Magpie watched and waited for the same to be done for them, yet no such thing occurred. Choosing to abandon two of their dogs, their owners left the pair behind in a sealed house.

After escaping the house, Magpie and Robin decided to make chase after the car, believing it was merely a mistake or forgetfulness. Mako however decided to turn his back on his owners, angry beyond anything that he had been so betrayed, and decided to follow the dogs to the high ground instead, leaving his once pampered life behind.

Other: My favourite colour is purple!

Basics

Name: Sashi

Age: 3 years and 2 months

Gender: Female

Sexuality: Bisexual

Relationships:

Dalu - Father - Pet - Deceased

Tama - Mother - Pet - Alive

Tonka - Older sister from the same litter - Pet - Unknown

Unnamed littermates (4 canines) - Pets - Unknown

Appearance

Description: This tall and elegant looking female medium-sized sighthound is an agile purebred Ibizan Hound that is 24 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs 47 lb, she isn’t considered an abnormality under the standards of her breed. Her narrow figure has a deer-like elegance, a characteristic that isn’t uncommon among the other members of her breed. She has a long snout, large prick ears, and her body is strong without appearing heavily muscled due to her relying more in speed to capture her targets. Sashi has a smooth short haired cherry-wood colored and white pelt combination, a characteristic she inherited from her parents’ heritages of purebred Ibizan Hounds, the white fur is only visible on her face, neck, part of her chest and underbelly, the rest of her body is completely cherry-wood colored. She has a black nose, ship gray colored to be more precise. She has brandy punch colored eyes, which is a very saturated and very light warm orange, and a rather steep, short shoulder blades, long straight legs, and her breast bone is very prominent. This female has thick pads on her paws, light colored claws with well-arched toes, and a thin and long tail.

Skills: Ability to jump great heights, great stamina, great eyesight.

Flaws: Not good at tracking by scent, she will know that the creature passed by there but won’t be able to tell in which direction it went.

Scars/Other Features: N/A

Characteristics

Personality: Sashi, usually just like any ordinary healthy Ibizan Hound, essentially is a very energetic canine with a large amount of stamina that she would often release physically by running around and by saying things a bit louder than necessary. When asked she would always reveal what she was thinking about unless it was embarrassing, it wasn’t often that she would upset someone by accident due she being optimistic and positive most of the time. But since her humans left her behind without looking back, she became a quieter and soft-spoken individual. She used to be extremely proud of her heritage when she and other dogs playfully played pretend to be a pack, she usually claimed that she was naturally a good hunter thanks to her family’s bloodline. But with her current position she is now unsure if she is as good of a hunter as she thought she was, even though she is unsure of her abilities she vowed to overcome the obstacles in her path. Because of that vow she can be quite competitive during hunts or in terms of catching prey, she may even suggest from time to time a competition/game of who catches the biggest rabbit with only one attempt. Sashi is a curious being that won’t hesitate to explore her new surroundings during the day, when the moon arises she becomes fearful of what may be lurking and becomes very cautious.

Positive Traits: Caring - Compliant - Hardworking - Honest

Neutral Traits: Mellow - Curious - Quiet - Calm

Negative Traits: Competitive - Compulsive - Quite cynical sometimes - Fearful

Biography: This lean and slender female sighthound was born in an energetic litter of six puppies, including herself, as the youngest of them during a relatively peaceful day of spring. Of all her siblings she was the closest to her older sister Tonka due to the similarities they shared, they would play fight most of the time while the rest of their siblings were busy playing with each other or napping together under the shade of some furniture. This canine recalls fondly of the time they would all play pretend together, most of their imaginary adventures were about pretending to be feral dogs.

Her sweet and caring mother had lived her whole life as a companion for the humans that owned them, living her entire safely sheltered inside her owner’s house and garden, while her protective father was a retired hunting dog that had been adopted by their humans and became a house pet after losing of his eyes to a furious badger during a hunt with his previous owner. Since her father had visited the forest to hunt with his previous owner, she and her siblings would surround the male and ask a myriad of questions about the forest and the wilderness. Their father would always chuckle and answer their questions to the best of his abilities.

During her puppyhood most of her siblings were eventually given away to their new families, where they would live with their own loving humans. At the time Sashi hadn’t minded it too much, she was happy that their siblings would have good lives without having to be worried about anything, but she had been struck by great sadness when older sister Tonya was taken away from her. She had believed that they would be adopted together and hadn’t expected that. But the sadness slowly faded away when she was adopted by a sweet human family. In her new house she lived with a house-mate that was a very old dachshund that unfortunately passed away some time after her second birthday, but she appreciated greatly the short time they spent together.

Basics

Name: Hazel (Formerly Patch)

Age: 1.2 years

Gender: Trans female

Sexuality: Demiromantic pansexual

Relationships:

Mother: Aliya | Pitbull mix | Captured stray | Presumed dead
Father: Mango | Catahoula x Pitbull mix | Stray | Presumed alive
Scruffy, Apple, Reed | Littermates | Dead
Tiny, Peony | Littermates | Unknown (Up for grabs if wanted!)

Appearance

Description: Hazel is a slim pitbull mix with a short coat. She's mostly beige, but has a white stomach and paws and is spotted with a muted brown. She has light hazel eyes, the feature she renamed herself after. Hazel looks big and strong, and is certainly powerful when fighting, which can be off-putting to people she doesn't know. Despite her strength, she doesn't fight much and has few scars. Overall, she's a strong-looking dog but would seem just as at home napping on a couch as sleeping in back alleys.

Skills: Strength, agility, survival

Flaws: Social skills, stamina, teamwork

Scars/Other Features: A few small claw scars on thigh and flanks

Characteristics

Personality: Hazel is predominantly a very shy and serious dog, clashing with her more cheerful companions. She's not a pessimist though, just not so excitable as most. She gets nervous during encounters with other dogs, becoming standoffish and snappy if she has to be in the spotlight. Despite her usual behavior, Hazel is a very caring dog if approached and interacted with right, just like many dogs of her breed!

Positive Traits: Level-headed, caring, sweet

Neutral Traits: Shy, nervous

Negative Traits: Can be standoffish, hard to approach

Biography:
Hazel had about the best puphood a stray can have. She grew up with both of her parents and two littermates (her other three siblings died very young, barely even being given names before they passed). Aliya and Mango were kind parents, and they always managed to provide for their pups. They even supported Hazel's being trans, happily using her pronouns and letting her pick a new name. Despite being a stray, Hazel never really experienced the hard life of most strays until she was around 5 months old.

When Hazel was an older pup, still living with her parents, brother, and sister, dogcatchers began searching the streets after a dog attack. While Mango was out scavenging, they came across the small family living in a small alley. Aliya could tell something was amiss, becoming aggressive and protective of the pups. The catchers, seeing Aliya was a pitbull and could be more dangerous, went on the offensive and pulled out tranquilizer guns. Aliya told the trembling pups to run, before being darted. The petrified Hazel managed to run, not observing what happened to her siblings and mother in that moment of blind, sheer panic.

After that, Hazel lived as a stray- finally knowing the life so many street dogs experienced. Thankfully she already had the skills, but it was a bit of a culture shock. At some point she ended up with the other dogs in the 'pack', getting to finally re-experience some life with other dogs. She was already living with the other strays full-time when the storm struck.
