Yeah, basically what Dzanek said about the stats. You can rarely get a +3 if you happen to first get a +1 and then a +2. But it doesn't work the other way around; if you start out getting a +2, you're capped for the day and can't get more.

This temporary stat gain food would be useful for quests that require us to find trails that are too difficult to find for our stalkers.

This would  make me interested in fishing as I am a Stat-Focused player. I never fish even when it's one of my Snake Quests. Support!

Maybe a life-long cap for each wolf? They can only gain a total of say, 10 stats based on food boosts? That way it isn't huge. We get more from pup training. Or make it comparable to pup training, so around 30 total? I just don't know how much would be too much, though 30 does sound like a lot to me.

Also, a way to make sure your wolf gets the stat you want would be nice--perhaps each item states which stat will get boosted.

I do like the idea, but I also agree that it shouldn't be unlimited. If it were unlimited, breeding for stats would be that much less desirable, since NBWs would potentially be able to get a ton more stats (depending on their player's wallet).

I'm all for Stat boosting items/food and the what not, currently, we're in a severe bottleneck anyway when it comes to stats, and with the new hunting update rolled around they aren't really needed anymore so they're just pure bragging rights at this point which is totally fine, no issue with that, though I'd love if they're a perm boost, feels odd to make it a temp boost because "Yes" I mean the fish themselves are already rare alone so to make the boost temporarily and gone within the day doesn't make it worth it imo

I mean at least with fish they expire so people can't hoard them, that and how they won't be able to eat 6 a day or so, I think that alone is enough of a balance to allow peeps to have perm stat boosts, though it would be nice if specific fish gave specific stats so that I can trade my legendary fish for another fish I want to use

Edit: This is a POV from someone who doesn't do the leaderboard grind 24/7, so take what I say with a grain of salt

I definitely see how a permanent stat-boost could be abused (as mentioned earlier in the thread) but I think a temporary one COULD be beneficial. As Dzanek mentioned, it would be great for allowing hunters to find (and perhaps catch) prey that would normally be beyond their means, OR temporarily improving a scout's stats which (if I understand scouts' stats correctly) could increase how much they discover when scouting a new biome.

Maybe or maybe not, this temporary boost could have an effect on pup stats if bred while boosted (which would address an issue I've been seeing lately about the soft stat cap too) - but it could also be that a wolf is not allowed to breed while temporarily stat-boosted in order to altogether prevent that.

ANOTHER possibility would be adding a sort of PvP feature where a temporary stat boost could improve your chances of winning against another player's wolf.
(Since this thread isn't about a pvp feature, I will refrain from speculating on all the ways that could pan out)

If the ideas to make fish give boosts, you could make it so the fish affects the type of stats a lead would gain, eg 50% of all stats will be smarts or something along those lines

wouldnt be a permanent effect ofc but at the same time it would'nt be an effect thats kinda useless(temporary buff kinda lame) i personally wont use a temp buff that makes me fight better and for leads with high stats it pretty much wouldnt matter since our stats are already across the threshold, totally can see myself chugging smarts fish to make my lead a smart boi tho

as for pack members, maybe a exp gaining boost? the stat allocation would not be useful on pack members for obvious reasons but an exp gaining boost would certainly be

alternatively could just make fish lead wolf only

I'd support capped temporary stat boosts, but not permanent stat boosts unless the stat boost cap is very low.

Permanent stat boosts would make the fishing mini-game mandatory. The fishing mini-game hurts my eyes if I play it for more than a minute or two. This incentive would put too much advantage onto fishing. Also, as others have pointed out, it would turn the leaderboards into fishingboards.

It's been a while but I would honestly love this!

I don't think it'll have too much effect on the game itself, legendary catches are incredibly rare and I feel like you could get stats much more easily from battling — I've filled up all 30 fish the vast majority of days since new achievements were released and have only gotten 14 legendaries, significantly more stats from battling by comparison. And I am actually looking to get the achievement and will spend hours some days with the game open next to me

Just think it'll be a little something extra to look forward to since tbh, for how rare they are legendary fish are pretty much worthless unless you're a collector or want the achievement. Maybe they could be used in crafting but with all the different biomes that'd be pretty tedious
