Clean Line Canines? (Any Clean Breeders?)

Posted 2020-10-12 01:17:57

Well, since clean breeding has sort of....encompassed non-inbreeding (like an ameoba), for now it can just be interchangeable with that in the context of Wolvden. However, eventually the Leaderboard wolves (or maybe the Multi-Merles, who knows) will becomes popular sires and then strategic avoidance of certain lines may be able to take shape. Who knows? Seeing what will or won't happen is half the fun of starting on a new game.

Clean breeding on WD maybe similar, identical, or completely different than how it appears on LD. We'll just have to wait'n see!

I still am not a fan of the term clean breeding so if it stays that way on here I will not participate. It will be tremendously easier on here than on lioden to start brand new lines and introduce new lines. Stat monsters will still be a thing and I'm already avoiding trying to avoid popular studs.  Sadly one stud I was going to breed to was retired before I was able to.

I'm an actual fan of real world breeding and genetics so I'd prefer the chance to start something similar to that especially since we do have easy access to lineage on here. Instead of clean vs. dirty lines.

That's fine. This is a thread looking for clean breeders, so I think you're in the wrong place if you don't like the terms/playstyles. Kali had a post where other people are considering other playstyles; maybe you'd be happier on one of those threads?

I don't believe WD has been around long enough for 'stat monsters', as Jax said, but yeah I believe this group meant to avoid those wolves once it is more clear who they are.

Personally, while I know line breeding is a thing, I don't want to do that. So I will happily enjoy a 'clean' playstyle. Actually, does the definition of clean breeding exclude any inbreeding, Jax? I know it was easier to tell on LD since the game told you inbreeding instances. But we don't have one here yet, if we ever will.

One definition of it does, yes. This used to just be called No Inbreeding, but as I stated above, people begin calling it Clean and it kind of stuck. Even the LD wiki claims that No Inbreeding is the most popular version of "clean" (debatable, but nonetheless).

Seems to me we're going to be avoiding multi-merle lines as well as statmonsters, since merle wolves tend to be pretty prolific. I know I made about 2k sc and 30 gc just from studdings yesterday off my boy.

Oh okay! I don't know the history of clean breeding or the variations on LD. I'm certainly going the no inbred clean way.

Hehehe, so do you think your own stud is one of those 'big' wolves to avoid?

Yeah, there's a LOT of clean lore and offshoot variations (NIB is looking to be yet another one, specific to WD). Maybe one day I'll sit down and write about it in depth, who knows?

And it'd be ironic if he was! I think when PA happens, Merle may see another surge in popularity, so SextaMerle's like my boi could be pretty prolific!

I think as the game gets settled (both the community and the economy) it will be easier to define playstyles and users may have a better sense of what they want. Possibly lol.

I would very much enjoy seeing someone chronicle the history of clean breeding.

I can see it happening to your stud! And the user (blanking on the name, sorry!) with the melanistic man. It would be hilariously ironic.

@MySpoons that was my bad! I’m on a merle stint and made my female as my lead by accident. I basically forced Jax to lead my male for me LOL

Yeah. If we get an incest counter (which should be toggle-able), then I'm sure something will take root. The reason CBing got so big partially was because no one really noticed how widespread the big 4 (and thus incest) were in the lines before I pointed it out. Then, everyone began consciously breeding away from them.
