Allow Chased Wolves to Keep Their Age (Again)

Posted 2021-04-12 05:30:51 (edited)

BIG SUPPORT! I love raising wolves to chase and I want my pups, if found, to be the best they can be for whoever finds them. I chase a lot of really nicely marked wolves and want them to be able to pass their marks the best that they can and this is seriously hindered if they are found at older ages. I've already had my wolves chased at 1 y/o be found at close to 5 y/o and it's rather upsetting and feels discouraging to me and other raise to chase players.

In chat earlier Kitty said the two options aside from leaving stuff as it stands now are 1. delete wolves chased over the age of 5 y/o 2. reroll stat/age of only wolves chased after 5 y/o (EDIT: someone shared the screenshot, bless)

I'm personally happy with either of these two changes as either way it leaves R&C pups to keep their age.

Oh! I knew we have the best devs!! <3

I agree that option 2 is probably the best, but I will be okay even with option 3.

In the meantime, just a minute ago I befriended this Tier 2 gal (that was probably a raise&chase) that is unfortunatly already 4yo. Not sure if she was originally younger but I feel like her age was indeed randomized. I will still keep her since she blends in perfectly with my wolves, but I would have been ten times happier if she had been younger.

(EDIT: I managed to write a good background story for her, so everything turned out for the best in the end XD)

I’m an R&Cer myself and I don’t have an issue with the RNG age, though I do wish there was a cap between 1 and 3y 6m or 4 years top—realistically speaking a lone wolf on their own in the wild would never reach 7-8 years. Other than that the RNG on age doesn’t discourage me to keep giving good pups into the chased pool, I still want new players to have the excitement of finding a nice looking pup as a NBW instead of a potato—and realistically speaking a new player would be happy even if the pup on the older scale of things so long as it’s really cool looking, I know from experience.

With proper management of food and toys I can personally grow about 10 pups (conservatively, I could prob do more but I also wanna play, raising R&Cs is just a hobby not my main goal) to adulthood before yeeting them to the void... and that’s keeping them all at 100% in everything. Technically you could keep them at the bare minimum so they don’t leave on their own and save up on resources that way before you yeet at 1y of age.

EDIT

I suppose option two would be good, that way it also gives a marginal chance for older pups to have a second chance in life as well.

As others have already said option 2 sounds like the best one but I wouldnt be against option 3 either.
Keeping the new system where every wolf is rerolled seems like the worst option of the 3

Support for only older wolves to get their age re-rolled, or get deleted from the pool altogether. A lot of the pups getting chased in the raise and chase thread are beautiful, and I'd personally love to get a few NBW with good genes already on them to stat train to make future hunting teams. And to breed future teams as well,  I've been trying to find NBW that are young so I have 4-5 years to train and specialize them to make good teams and breed the next generation with good stats to start.

Also, admittedly I just started doing raising and chasing and I'd like any youngsters found to be young so they can be good for future stat breeding if the new owners want. :'D

Support. I recently just found out about this and its kinda painful knowing any T3 I have chased may have less time to live than before just because I chased in hopes for new T3 blood. (option 2)

I support this and would love to see option 2 implemented, but would be fine with option 3. I just don't want to chase something good and then someone find it and it be like 5 years old already. :/

Support! As many others have said, I like option 2 best but would be fine with option 3. There are a lot of great R&C wolves chased right at adulthood and I want them to have long full lives when found & rehomed.

I agree with this. As someone who raises and chases yearlings it's disheartening to see any of the wolves chased at yearling age suddenly become older, especially if they end up being on death's door. Option 2 seems like the best option as it gives older wolves a chance to be young again and doesn't affect any of the young wolves going into the pool. As for the immortal concern the chances of that happening are very slim and I don't think it will be a problem
