Re-List a trade (Cancel and re-post)

Re-List a trade (Cancel and re-post)

Canceling and reposting a trade to discount the price is a bit tedious at the moment since you have to re-copy the title and description, and you can lose watchers who might not realize you're just changing the price. What if instead of normal cancellation you could Re-List a trade?

I have some specific ideas for this feature:

  • Underneath the Cancel Trade button, add a checkbox for "Re-List this Trade?"
  • Canceling the trade with the box checked takes you to the Create New Trade page with the Title, trade type, Wanted, and any wolves that were in the trade pre-filled exactly like the previous trade
  • You still need to fill in the price
  • Any Watchers receive a "Trade Cancelled for Re-Listing" notification- so they know that wolf wasn't bought!

Those seem like reasonable possibilities I hope! :)

Bonus suggestion- send a second notification to the previous watchlist if the owner completes Re-Listing ~ but I can see why that could be tricky (presumably the watchlist gets deleted when the trade is cancelled so this might be difficult to implement on the coding end)

Support! This would be really convenient for a lot of situations (e.g., repricing, fixing a typo in the title). Because it counts as a trade cancellation + new trade, there'd be no chance for a potential buyer to get accidentally bait-and-switched (which is why I assume we can't directly modify trades).

Please! Itโ€™s a major hassle to lower prices, especially when there are a lot of watchers, so much so that people often just advertise โ€œwill accept lowerโ€ in their chat ads.ย
