Kaiya laughed and came back with two bowls, one with water and one with small pieces of raw chicken. She set them on the close by coffee table and returned with glasses of water for herself and Dexter. Sitting on the carpet, Aelia climbed into her lap as they awaited Dexter's dragon.

((Aelia is Kaiya's Dragon, right? What does she look like?))

Yes Aelia is Kaiya's dragon. As Aelia is a sun dragon I figured she'd be quite lithe and thin, as a dragon she also has all four legs and two wings. Her colour theme is a pinky dawn, so she has a plate of armour on her back that is a soft pink. Her horns (running from her head down to her tail and then currently only one but eventually four on each side of her tail) are a pastel lavender. Her wings (not the bone, the membrane) is simply white, as is her underbelly. Aelia's eyes are sun coloured, and as a baby she always has a soft glow that corresponds to her moods, however as she grows I plan that she will be able to control it. Hope that makes sense XD I went off a lot of different pictures and I usually have dark coloured dragons because it's easier lmao))

((Do we choose what type our dragons are ourselves or does Night_Sky tell us?))

I chose mine, and I think everyone else did)

The egg split neatly in two, the two halves falling away to reveal the hatchling, glistening in the firelight. He (for the telepathic connection had ignited at once, and Dexter could tell that his dragon was male) was in a tightly coiled position, but as soon as he was free from the egg he uncoiled himself and spread his wings. He was the size of a cat, his scales shimmering the same dark gold as his egg had been, his wings a bright honey colour. He had a deep chest and broad shoulders, a square jaw, and a long snout that he opened with a yawn to reveal rows of razor sharp teeth. He blinked open chestnut-brown eyes, the same colour as the short baby horns that sprouted from his forehead.

"He's beautiful," Dexter breathed, and the newly hatched dragon purred at the compliment.

"Oh, he is gorgeous!" Kaiya whispered and Aelia chirped a hello to the new dragon. Aelia went closer to the couch, standing on her hind legs to see the new dragon better. Her glow grew and she bounded back to Kaiya, pawing at her arm. Kaiya laughed quietly at her excitement.

The newborn hatchling shook himself and stretched, using his muscles for the very first time. He looked at Aelia with clear, bright eyes and rumbled a response in a surprisingly deep voice for a hatchling. He cautiously approached Kaiya to get closer to Aelia, flickering his tongue out to taste the air near the older hatchling.

Dexter smiled at the friendliness between the two dragons. "Only been out of the shell for a few seconds and he's already made a friend! I'd say, based on his colour, that he's a sun dragon. What do you think?"

Kaiya laughed at the low rumble and at Aelia's soft response before the female batted at him, bounding away quickly. "He definitely has made a friend. And on his colour, yes, I do think he's a sun dragon." Kaiya shook her head. "And you came here because you thought his egg was breaking. Honestly Dexter, you do astound me at times." She said teasingly. "Do you have somewhere decent to stay for a while to let him get used to life? And has he told you his name?"

"He hasn't yet told me his name," Dexter said, "I think our bond is still building. I can sense him but he hasn't yet spoken to me. Yes I've got a place to stay, I've rented a room at a nearby dormitory."

The male hatchling barked when Aelia batted him - not like a dog, it was more like the barking of a seal - and leapt after her, playfully chasing.
