They were both asleep

Sky sits quietly, keeping a hand on her egg and listening to the world.

They whispered softly to eachother

"Come Aelia." Kaiya held open her arms, sitting on the couch in front of her fireplace. The dragon bounded up to her, curling around in her lap. The soft glow was almost always there, but rather faint. It began to fade, becoming stronger then going back down. Amaya was asleep and Lailea was sitting on the back of the couch.

Dexter knocked on Kaiya's door. His breath was coming in anxious gasps as he clutched his dragon egg close to his chest. He needed help from someone more experienced with dragons than himself, and he knew that Kaiya's egg had already hatched.

Aelia's glow dropped and Kaiya startled as the knock sounded. She got up quickly as Lailea hissed, skittering off to hide. As she saw Dexter standing there, she opened the door properly. "What is it Dexter? Come in, quickly." She frowned, noting how anxious he was. "Is your egg alright?" She continued, closing the door behind him. Aelia shifted in her arm, moving onto her shoulder as she made a small complaint at the new person, her glow still very dim.

Dexter entered the room, his pet cat Sunflower following at his heels. Sunflower trotted over to the fireplace and curled up in front of it.

"There's a crack," Dexter said fearfully, showing Kaiya his large golden egg. A large crack had broken its surface. "Is it damaged? What do I do?"

Kaiya let out a shaky breath, her frown crumpling to a grin. "No, you idiot." She grinned at him. "Your egg is hatching. Come on, go sit on the couch." She shook her head, clearing a space for Dexter to sit and giving Sunflower a quick pat. "I'll go get some water and some of the food I gave Aelia when she hatched."

Dexter's worry gave way to a wave of joy. His egg, hatching at last!

"Of course!" he laughed, smiling at Kaiya, "how silly of me! Thank you, Kaiya, clearly I need someone clear-headed around to keep me sensible." He sat down on the couch with his egg on his lap, gazing at it with awe. Another crack began to spider-web its way across the shining shell.
