Peakclan's Promise :: A Warrior Cats Roleplay (OPEN!!)

Posted 2021-04-19 11:39:17 (edited)

Waspwatcher || Lakeclan || Medicine Cat || Location: Lakeclan Camp || Mentions: Roughthroat, Sharpscar

The russet brown Medicine Cat had been grumbling on about a lack of Borage in his den. He was rustling through stacks of dried herbs and managed to knock some cobwebs over. Cursing at himself while picking them up, he heard his name called. He could tell it was Roughthroat speaking, and apparently, they were off to go on a patrol. Waspwatcher hastily picked up the last of the dropped cobwebs and set them in the far corner of his den with the other herbs where they would not get rained on.

"Hello, Roughthroat. I'd love to tag along.", the large tabby patterned cat dipped his head towards the Deputy. He looked at the Deputy once more, "Would it be alright if I gathered some Borage near the river once we are through with the patrol? Oh, and Oak leaves?", Waspwatcher's raspy voice was extremely recognizable by anyone in their clan. It was unique and hoarse but somehow was still kind. Waspwatcher's ears flicked in the rain. Dear Starclan, how he hated the rain. He looked up at the sky and thought, Why today, of all days, do you have to make water pour down from the skies when I am in need of Oak Leaves'. He shook his long fur and huffed. ' OH, and I need DRY Oak Leaves for the proper needs', he spat at Starclan in his head. Age was definitely making the Medicine Cat more grumpy towards certain things as time went on.

FLOWINGOAK // LOCATION: OAKCLAN CAMP// MENTIONS: EVENINGPAW, IVYCRY

Flowingoak dipped his head towards Eveningpaw and Ivycry, glad to some extent that they were concerned about his well-being. He could tell that, from a brief glance at the she-cat's face, Ivycry had been planning on saying what his apprentice had.

"Everything is fine. Nothing happened, thankfully." He smiled, his whiskers twitching slightly. His blue eyes dropped to gaze at Eveningpaw. "I just checked on the Lakeclan border, since I heard some angry voices coming in that direction. I saw Steppingstar, Roughthroat, and an apprentice there in total, quite close to where the scent marking clashed."

Wait... his mind began to wander, as it usually did. Why would Lakeclan's leader and deputy be at the border with an apprentice?

...I hope they weren't trying to persuade him to spy on Oakclan. No one would suspect an apprentice to be doing the dirty work for a leader.

Shaking his head, he grinned at the two females, hoping his train of thought hadn't left him with a worried expression.

Eveningpaw // Location: OakClan Camp // Mentions: Ivycry, Flowingoak

Eveningpaw studied Flowingoak as he told them about what happened at the LakeClan border. "Oh, okay," She said, taking another bite of squirrel. She picked the bones clean of any meat, knowing during leaf-bare, you couldn't waste anything. She glanced at Ivycry, then settled her gaze on Flowingoak, who had a nervous expression on his face. Was something going on? She inwardly shook her head. No. Flowingoak would have told Leafstar, after all, he was deputy. Keeping secrets risked his rank and his popularity in the clan. He wouldn't. He couldn't.

Rainflower // OakClan Camp, Medicine Cat Den // Mentions: Eveningpaw, Flowingoak, Ivycry

Rainflower, now satisfied with her cures and herbs, emerged from her den, the faint scent of herbs clinging to her fur. Her gaze slid from Leafstar to the deputy, Flowingoak, who was speaking to Ivycry and Eveningpaw, his apprentice. What were they talking about? Her ears swiveled towards them, but she could only catch some murmurs about LakeClan...hmm. What about them? Curiosity burned through her paws, though she didn't move. That would be nosy.

Ivycry // Location: Oakclan Camp // Mentions: Eveningpaw, Flowingoak

Ivycry swallowed the lump that was forming in her throat, finding that her worries were barely soothed by Flowingoak's vague words. But, she didn't push it. Flowingoak was a noble, loyal cat, and she had every faith in him and his judgement. Instead, she decided to offer her assistance - even if the thought of a potential battle made her whole body shudder with fear.

Mustering the courage, Ivycry spoke with a dry mouth. "If a border patrol is needed," she paused to take a short breath in order to compose herself. "I'd be happy to come with. Anything I can do to assist the clan."

She turned to glance at Eveningpaw, noticing that she too was looking at the deputy. She wondered what the apprentice thought herself, but decided not to ask her.

Leafstar || OakClan || Leader || Location: OakClan territory|| Mentions: Flowingoak

While he tuned his ears into birdsong, he eventually heard the steady pawsteps of his large deputy, causing him to remove his attention from his passing time and instead focus on his intended activities for the afternoon. The tom opened his eyes once more, noticing that the disposition of the burly feline seemed to have changed. Hm...something was bothering him. Leafstar hoped he still wasn't holding onto his prior concern, the one that the leader had dismissed. Nonetheless, the tufted-furred leader rose to his paws and approached his second-in-command calmly. "Flowingoak," he greeted him in his typical monotone voice, "I'm heading out. It's about time I contribute this afternoon. You're in charge of camp during my absence."

His intelligent eyes rested on the tom, with their typical lackluster as they read the deputy's body language. "...And if you need to speak to me later, let me know." Leafstar finished before turning away and parting from camp, paws crunching lightly in the layer of snow that blanketed the earth. He always had a preference for warrior duties over those of a leader- as soon as the opportune moment approached, he was likely to leave Flowingoak with the responsibility. But with how long the war had been raging between LakeClan and PeakClan...well, he didn't think that'd be any time soon. Leafstar, albeit young, was now left with merely five lives to his name.

Leafstar could feel his shoulders relaxing as he left camp. He preferred the openness of the tree-covered territory over camp, which was clogged with cats and their conversations. He could be at peace out here, without the immediate concerns of leadership to plague his mind. He drew in a deep breath, enjoying the scent of trees and distant lingering prey. Peace. Silence. Some space to himself...StarClan was he happy to finally be out of camp.

Bearheart & Stormpaw || PeakClan || Med Cat & Warrior App|| Location: Camp Outskirts|| Mentions: Frostmaw

Stormpaw wasn't too familiar with the clan deputy, and she never expected him to be so open and jolly. She thought that most high ranks were meant to be stoic and behave like a devoid of emotion, dedicated more so towards their duty rather than their relationships. She liked this cat- she liked that PeakClan had a nice cat at its helm, rather than another that she couldn't relate to. "Thank you," the blue tabby responded to his compliment, bashfully averting her emerald eyes to the ground as she walked along with both Bearheart and Frostmaw towards camp's exit. It made her feel like a true warrior, to be accompanied by a giant and the clan deputy. How often did apprentices her age have the privilege of patrolling with both medicine cat and deputy? She only needed to find Robinstar to have the whole shebang! Imagine! Boulderpaw would lose his head if he saw her now.

She listened intently as Frostmaw spoke his mentor, Rosewhisker, and continued mentioning this "meditation". She cast a small glance towards Bearheart, their intimidating medicine cat, to see if he had an opinion on the matter. The tom mentioned nothing, and she wondered if he was getting impatient. Nonetheless, his relaxed stance informed her that he was in no rush, and was perhaps enjoying the companionship of the young apprentice and exuberant clan deputy. Stormpaw thought on Frostmaw's offer for a moment. "I wouldn't mind learning about it, during some down time." She chimed in at last with a small smile on her maw. She did enjoy learning new things, after all. It gave her more content to speak to Boulderpaw about, who was always all-ears for her long rambling about PeakClan accomplishments.

The proud glow still existed in the medicine cat's heterochromatic eyes, amusing himself with the exchange of conversation between the apprentice and Frostmaw. He liked this cat- he liked any cat willing to pat his ego and recall his service as an excellent warrior. Bearheart moved at a steady pace towards camp's exit, briefly glancing over at the blue-coated deputy when he inquired about a good path to take. "Your chosen route should do just fine." The big piebald feline reassured the new deputy with a small flick of his semi-curly tail. "It'll work out better for me that way, anyways. I think the only flower I need to pick today is catmint mostly, given the sudden cough outbreak this morning. That stuff usually likes the wetlands closer to LakeClan." Well...he probably needed to scrounge up some other herbs, but he didn't quite know the names of them. That would be a long, long outing that would be best without the short legs of an apprentice to accompany him. It would definitely take him most, if not all, of the daylight available to him.

"...So swinging by the LakeClan border last means I don't have to carry around weeds the entire trip." He finished before glancing once more towards camp's exit. "...Saves me the embarrassment."

Sharpscar / Lakeclan Warrior / Location: Lakeclan's Campsite Clearing / Mentions: Roughthroat, Wasp Watcher

It was a quiet afternoon of the day, only the gentle murmurs of cats sharing tongues and eating was heard as well as the gentle fall of the rain. Sharpscar, unlike the others, was currently just resting, rain dripping off his small face, the scar upon it quite visible and bright against the surrounding dark facial features of the siamese tom. His dampened-blue eyes closed, allowing the rain to trail through the short furs. It calmed him, and, unlike Roughthroat, he didn't seem to mind such wet conditions, almost enjoying as the rain kept his face cool. Though, despite his comfort now, he would certainly not feel the same as the humidity would rise and his body temperature plummeted, a soaked pelt sapping up the heat that lurked beneath.

A call perked his ear. Before he had even opened his eyes, his dark brown ear had flicked towards Roughthroat's position and vocal call. Standing to his paws, he padded over. Compared to the others, he seemed decently smaller, yet respect still held, a warrior even giving him a gentle dip of his head as the scarred siamese passed. Appearing out of no-where in front of Roughthroat, likely surprising the larger cats, Sharpscar turning his head to gaze up at the toms. His averagely lengthed tail held behind him at a some-what calm but listening position.

"At once, Roughthroat"

He meowed respectfully, the color of his eyes reflecting and grayer color from the rain, making his eyes almost change a color similar to a gentle turquoise.

Brownclaw / Lakeclan Warrior / Location: Lakeclan's Campsite Clearing / Mentions: Roughthroat

Brownclaw was having a nap in the bushes when he heard the deputy, Roughthroat, calling out orders. He got up, stretched and yawned, and then padded out into the afternoon rain. Roughthroat was assigning duties to some of the warriors. Brownclaw was the smallest and weakest of the warriors, but still he knew he ought to offer to help. He slunk over to Roughthroat reluctantly. He didn't really enjoy being a warrior and wasn't looking forward to receiving his orders.

"Is there anything you'd like me to do, Roughthroat?" Brownclaw asked quietly, sitting before the larger tom.

FLOWINGOAK // LOCATION: OAKCLAN CAMP// MENTIONS: EVENINGPAW, IVYCRY, LEAFSTAR, RAINFLOWER

Flowingoak gave Eveningpaw a tiny smile when he saw the calculating gaze she was giving him. She probably noticed. He thought, internally rolling his eyes. Why wouldn't she? She's my own apprentice, after all.

He opened his mouth to respond to Ivycry, but he wasn't sure if he was more relieved than not at Leafstar's appearance. The tom dipped his head on instinct, listening to his leader's words diligently.

He met Leafstar's eyes with his final sentence, nodding softly. "I understand, Leafstar. Everything will be as you left it when you come back." He said with a respective tone, watching him walk away.

On his way out, he passed Rainflower (I love this name so much-), who was looking in their direction. He offered the Medicine Cat a grin, standing up.

His cerulean eyes landed back on Ivycry. "Well, Ivycry, I don't think that'd be necessary. They are probably gone by now." He flicked his tail. "Maybe you could accompany Rainflower on a trip to find some herbs? I must stay in the camp until Leafstar returns."

Eveningpaw // Location: OakClan Camp // Mentions: Ivycry, Flowingoak, Rainflower, Leafstar

Eveningpaw looked at Leafstar, watching as he walked away. "I'm taking a nap, Flowingoak!" She called as she entered the apprentice's den, curling up in her moss bed. She faintly heard Flowingoak talk to Rainflower and Ivycry before falling asleep, tired from the dawn patrol and hunting.

Rainflower // OakClan Camp, Medicine Cat Den // Mentions: Eveningpaw, Flowingoak, Ivycry, Leafstar

Rainflower watched as Leafstar speak to Flowingoak then leave camp, most likely hunting or patrolling. She gave Flowingoak a faint smile as he approached her, suggesting Ivycry to come help her to find herbs. Rainflower nodded to Ivycry. "I'd appreciate the help," She said softly.

Leafstar || OakClan || Leader || Location: Oak-Peak Border || Mentions: Unnamed rogue

The dark bicolor continued along the trodden path of the previous patrols, ears swiveling in the directions of the tiniest noises: the few red squirrels scampering up bark, the squeaks of chickadees, the soft plopping of snow that fell from trees and onto the ground. It made for a symphony of peace that Leafstar truly enjoyed, causing a wave of tranquility to wash over the leader. The freshest prints from the patrol directed towards LakeClan's border, so the tom swerved in the direction of PeakClan instead. He always did prefer the unbeaten path.

His mind threatened to ponder whatever it was that concerned his deputy this time. Boulderpaw. Leafstar thought to himself bitterly, instantly placing the blame on his scoundrel of a LakeClan nephew. Fortunately, nobody knew of his relation to the sour-tempered apprentice. Leafstar intended to keep it that way, for the sake of preserving his dignity and avoiding another reason to drag OakClan into a fight.

You're out here to enjoy yourself, not plague your mind with more cumbersome thoughts. Leafstar reminded himself as he surveyed the forest before him, admiring in the mountainous landscape in the distance. He didn't understand why PeakClan chose to torture themselves with such a harsh landscape, regardless of how pretty it was. But as the leader stood, enjoying the view of mountain and sun, something stirred in his peripherals and snagged his attention away. There was a cat, not of LakeClan nor PeakClan, foraging in the snow. She was not on their shared borders- it had to be a loner, attempting to hunt on their land. The border was clear- did they need a reminder?

The cat was a pretty calico, with distinctive patches mottling her coat. It reminded Leafstar of sunshine mottling the ground as it shone through the leaves. While she was certainly a pretty cat, she as still trespassing on his territory. And that wouldn't be tolerated. He crept along the snowy floor, ensuring that the placement of his footing wouldn't give him away as he lurked closer to the oblivious she-cat. Once he was close enough, Leafstar sprung, sinking his claws into the she-cat's shoulders and rolling with her. The rogue screeched in surprise, lashing out until she was able to connect her teeth with the loose skin on Leafstar's neck. He felt her claws streak across his cheek before the tom finally kicked the rogue away. "You're trespassing." The leader growled in a threatening tone. While she was processing his words, he launched himself at her again to get the leverage. While she attempted to go for his ears out of defense, he pressed his teeth against her neck.

"Alright, alright!" The rogue squealed before backing away and turning tail. Leafstar stood there triumphantly, spatting out a piece of mottled fur as the she-cat fled.
