HERDS OF DAKOTA(CLOSED)

Crescent Moon smiled, glad that the filly had agreed.

"C'mon! We should get there in no time." She knickered, and shook out her mane before she began trotting in the direction she knew held the promising crystalline goodness of the stream she'd talked about. Her ears were angled backward, making sure the young appaloosa didn't stray too far away.

Jewel Ash soon came to the water and joined them, but with less enthusiasm  " hey guys.  y'all enjoy the water and sun. I have something to do. I wont be far"

She soon left the group to think and think some more

Moran wasted no time and turned to prance along close behind Moon. She enjoyed being active and moving. Standing still was boring. Moon was right, they got to the creek in a jiffy and Mo didn't realize how thirsty she was until this second. She approached the water source and instantly put her nose in it to take a drink, her feathery tail swishing behind her. Before she had time to do anything else, she perked up at adavancinng hoof-steps. She turned and looked and smiled gently at Jewel, but only to hear that she was leaving again. Oh. Mo blinked and returned her attention to the water, suddenly having the unction to jump in and splash around. 

Jewel did eventually join then later. still things on her mind " how's everything going, you two?"  She asked taking a drink beside Moran " I know ive been away awhile. Im sorry. Just being a herd leader is hard."

Crescent Moon smiled, seeing Moran drinking vigorously. Her ears perked, too, when the little filly even gave Jewel a smile. It was definitely an improvement from earlier.

When Jewel joined them once again, she lifted her muzzle from drinking and swished her tail. "It seems to be going quite well." She smiled, her sage eyes averting to look at the appaloosa filly. "You seem to be enjoying yourself, Moran!"

Moran disregarded Jewel's comment, she didn't understand. She just continued to kick and buck and jump in the shallow waters, a chorus of laughter erupting from her mouth. She snapped out of her frolick when she heard her name from Moon and she stopped, breathing heavily with ears perked and a wide smile.

"My brother and I like to play tag, especially in the water," she stated, trotting out of the water and shaking out her body, water flying in all directions, she moved her gaze back and forth to Moon and Jewel, "only when an adult is watching though, there could be some nastys in the water," she said with a scrunched up nose, "that's what momma said." 

It was then her smile fell and her brightened eyes averted themselves from the mares.

Jewel chuckled " there sure can be, Moran. But nothing will hurt you when we are around. " She  stepped away from the water and just watched Moran and Moon talking to each other. Her role as a lead mare was hard, but she was warming up to these two. But she still hoped that she would become friends with Moon and also hoped that Moran would trust Jewel more.

Crescent Moon nudged Moran's shoulder softly, her sage eyes softened.

"Hey, it's alright. Like Jewel said, nothing will hurt you when we're around, and we'll definitely make sure of that. You can think of it as a promise." She grinned, flicking the filly with her tail playfully.

"Now, you said you liked to play tag, right? Well, you can't do that with only one horse. How about..." She suddenly nipped her flank lightly, then started cantering away, into the water. "Tag, you're it!"

Moran's smile fell a bit. Even as a filly she knew promise was a big word that in her experience had empty meaning. Despite having the urge to rebuke the mares, she nodded and reconstructed her smile. Moran watched Jewel walk off before looking back at Moon, ears perking at the mention of tag. 

"Uh-huh, I was the fastest filly in the herd," she said proudly, puffing out her chest a bit - until suddenly she deflated at the nip and retreat, but she knew what that meant. With a chorus of giggles, Moran chased after Moon into the shallow waters. "Hey get back here!" 

Jewel watched them have a total blast. She wanted to be part of the little game of tag, but she knew Moran wouldnt want her new her. So she just watched them. Walking along  keeping watch. She knew where it was dangerous to go. She knew the dangerous animals that lurked nearby. But for the time being, it was calm. " Dont get too far now you two" Jewel said after not speaking for a while.
