HERDS OF DAKOTA(CLOSED)

Jewel  stepped back a few paces " I'm here to help you, little one. I'm wild. let me help you" She looked at the stunned foal but stayed where she was. Wondering where the filly's mother was " I know you are struggling, I don't know why, but I tend to find out one way or another."

She turned her head  in both directions to see if she could spot any other horses around, but with no luck . She then focused back on the foal. My name is Jewel.  What would your name be, little one?" she asked gently. She had a heart for little ones, for she yearned to have a child of her own. 

Moran felt her heart rate quicken and she flared her nostrils, shaking her head.

"News flash, I'm wild too," she grunted and stomped her fore limbs a couple times. She took a few more steps back and let her body relax a little more. The silence between her and the mare, who called herself Jewel, was deafening, but Moran was growing in confidence that she wouldn't do anything and wasn't harmful.

"Moran," she answered with an edge in her voice. 

Jewel smiled " it's nice to meet you, Moran. That's a beautiful name. " she said  not wanting to move any farther towards the foal, til she got the foal to trust her a bit more. " Where are you parents, little one,  you shouldn't out here alone. Theres a safer place than here, dear.  its just over that crest" she said tilting her head to the crest and then back to the foal. But I wont push you to come with me, if you dont want to. "

She then began tot turn around to head in that direction. Hoping the foal would actually follow her. S If the foal did follow behind her, at a distance, of course. She would connect with that foal as one of her own.

Crescent Moon nosed around the different green sprouts rising from the ground, brushing her muzzle against them lightly, nipping at the healthiest, more nutritious patches. Her black tail swished against her flank in an almost lazy manner as she grazed, nearing the crest of the Herd's land.

Raising her head, she flicked her ears as she gazed down the slope, sage eyes scanning the scenery. There, she saw the lead mare Jewel with a little foal that seemed quite determined to stand her ground. She let out a barely audible whinny of amusement as she watched the foal's movements until she finally came to a standstill.

The two exchanged some words, and the lead mare began walking in the direction of the slope. Moon's shoulder twitched, and she watched closely. While she hoped the foal wouldn't be startled by her presence on the crest, she wanted her to know she was there so it wasn't a surprise when she got over the crest.

Jewel looked behind her and gasped " Oh boy.. another one..." she said quietly.

She walked over to the newcomer and gave a whinny " Hi." she said " Names Jewel Ash." She  made sure to keep an eye on the foal in case she ran off back to wherever her parents were at. but then looked back at the stranger " Did you come far? If so, you can stay here with me and join my herd im trying to make" She didnt want to scare off this mare, so she stayed calm and swished her tail.

Crescent Moon tilted her head when the mare directed her attention on her, and she could feel her skin heating up with slight nervousness.

"Actually... I'm not quite sure where exactly I came from, but I've traveled a lot in my time here." She said, taking a wary step back to add some additional space. "My name is Crescent Moon, but you can just call me Moon, I guess."

"As for your offer..." She trailed off, her sage eyes holding slight fear and hope all at once. "Would you really accept a lone mare into your herd?"

Moran blinked a couple times as Jewel spoke.

"I.. They.." she stammered, her head lowering slightly, but before she could answer the older horse's question they left. No stood in place and perked her ears. What if her herd came back and she wasn't here? Mo turned on her hooves and looked all around her. 

They weren't coming back. Moran was slowly accepting that. With a grieved nicker, she turned and began to slowly make her way in the direction Jewel went. 

" I accept anyone who is lost or weary. " Jewel said flicking her ear a bit. " I need someone to look after that foal if she ever decides to stay here in my herd. But its up to you if you want to stay here with me, or not. But it does get lonely every so often. But I promise that I will help in any way I can. Moon. I promise" She would hold to any promise she made  to anyone that came into her herd from this day forward and help those in need.

Jewel saw the foal coming towards her and smiled " Awe Moran.. come here darling"

Crescent Moon was surprised, to say the least, after hearing the mare's words. Her hope ignited further, and she let out a happy knicker. "Well, then, if you are willing, I will join the little herd of yours."

Her ears perked when she saw the foal walking up behind Jewel, and she craned her neck to get a view of the little appaloosa. "I'd also love to be of assistance when it comes to taking care of Moran if she decides to stay. I've never had a foal of my own, and I don't really intend to, so this would be great." She smiled softly at the foal, her sage eyes warm and inviting.

Jewel Ash smiled  at Moon " you are the guardian of that foal from now on. I hope you will do everything in your care for Moran" she then looked at the foal and nuzzled her gently " now come, time to enjoy the sun and the rest of the day." She slowly walked off to go graze on the lush green grass. Knew knew that she was doing the right thing for Moran and Moon. But what would her mate say about it. She could only hope.
