Raventide | Location: Forest | Mentions: Remus

Raventide ventured further from the temporary camp, his ears swiveling calmly, eyes bright and alert. He let his paws brush against the green carpet underfoot with every step instead of taking care to place his steps soundlessly, like if he were hunting. The tom was simply taking a stroll, wanting to know the spot that Sunclan would be in for who knew how long.

He licked his muzzle, and deciding that he wasn't hungry enough to search for food, he instead began to search for adventure. He swerved through the amazingly tall redwood trees with ease, since they were closely-knit, trunk to trunk. They had plenty of space in between since they were such large trees.

He closed his maw and let out a sigh through his nose, letting out a tiny purr when he'd walk through sunny spots. However, he came to a sudden stop when he saw a larger figure rise out of a den or burrow of some sort. The fur on Raventide's shoulders rose, and his ears ticked back against his head. Dog? He questioned, taking in a deep breath.

Doesn't smell like one, but it sure does look like the tiny ones that bark a lot. Don't they have bigger ears? I've never seen one that doesn't have fur that barely covers its skin, though. What is that? The thoughts ran through his head rapidly, and he crept a bit closer to the unknown figure, belly low to the ground, making sure to stay out of its line of sight if it turned around.

🦊Foxstar | Location: Twoleg Bridge | Mentions: Mudsong🦊

The leader felt her heart beat faster. A surge of affection for her lifelong friend spread outward from her chest through her whole body. She gave a long, slow blink before remembering something.

"Speaking of new territory!" she chirped, "I think the forest across this bridge is perfect, I can feel it. I'd like to head back to the rest of the clan and set up a scouting party or two. The rest can get some food in their bellies and once they're all prepared, we can lead them here." She rose to her feet, stretching out her forelegs with her tail held high in the air as her muscles tensed, aching from the seemingly endless trek the night before. Finally her body relented and she stepped past Mudsong, their pelts brushing. Stopping at the mouth of the newly trodden path through the grass, she looked back at her companion. Eddies of newfound energy and excitement whirled through her, tempting Foxstar to bounce on her paws.

🕷Spiderfang | Location: Temporary Camp | Mentions: Shadedfern🕷

Spiderfang stayed curled up, as if asleep, while his ears swiveled to follow the voices of his clanmates. At the mention of hunting, his stomach turned. He never figured out why, but eating before sun-high upset his stomach. On the bright side, he was usually on the dawn patrol, and got his duties out of the way early in the day. And with all that extra time, he could spend plenty of it with all of his friends. On that note, he opened his eyes to search for the dark pelt of one of his closer friends. He climbed to his feet and nudged the other tom's shoulder persistently."Rise and shine, Shadedfern!" he meowed cheerfully.

Shadedfern | Location: Temp. Camp | Mentions: Spiderfang

Shadedfern groaned in complaint, batting his paws at his awaker. He opened one green eye slightly, but both shot open when he realized who it was. He wrapped his forearms around their neck, bringing them down in a gruff 'hug'. "Heeeey, Spiderfang!!" He laughed, nipping at the other tom's ear. He released him a while later, rolling to his paws.

"If anyone other than you woke me up, they would've gotten a nasty smack." He chuffed, puffing out his chest in a humorous, cocky way. He shook out his short fur, his tail waving in the air.

"Let me guess..." He started, studying his friend's face. "Foxstar give us patrol duty?" He tilted his head slightly, large paws planted firmly on the ground as he turned his head and began grooming his shoulder, ears pointed at his buddy, awaiting his answer.

Mudsong || Location: Twoleg Bridge || Mentions: Foxstar

Sometimes, she longed for the days of their kithood, where Mudsong was capable of being as irresponsible as she pleased. They had no stress of fires, of relocation, or even of Foxstar's recent promotion. It was just the two of them and their silly games- or better yet, just Foxstar attempting to get Mudsong out of whatever trouble she'd (intentionally) gotten herself into. But like it or not, they'd grown. They had new roles to fill.

...But that didn't prevent Mudsong from having her youthful moments, and her fun.

As her companion trotted by, she instinctively swatted at Foxstar's multicolored tail before following in suit. Mudsong's own tail was still sore, given that she'd lost part of it to the pursuing flames. Her best friend had lost part of her ears as well, but...really, the look suited Foxstar. Mudsong liked it. "Will you be going out there?" She asked curiously, wondering if the leader shared her desire to see the land for herself. The warrior was eager to be one of the first to catch a glimpse of their potential new home, but she knew that there were other responsibilities to be had. "I might have to take Hawkpaw out later as well, if that's alright with you."

Remus || Rogue || Location: The Burrow/Forest || Mentions: Raventide [indirect]

There was still that funny scent in the air- he'd noticed it yesterday, strange smells that reminded him of Biscuit (just not as old and stale). It was foreign, a blend of scents that made his hackles bristle while making him excited all the same. He couldn't quite...decipher it. For whatever reason, it seemed to be particularly stronger today, as if whatever it was happened to be creeping closer to his home. Something doesn't feel right about today...

He tried to push his paranoia aside, to instead focusing on finding a prey trail so that he could have his breakfast. As giant as Remus was, he had a tendency to be as skittish. As hard as he tried, he found himself incapable of swallowing his unease. Now especially- it felt like something was staring at him. It could be a predator. The silver tabby reminded himself, feeling his jaws tense. While Remus remained frozen in place, his golden eyes darted over to the burrow beside him. Yet, Biscuits word's echoed in his head:

"You bumbling four-legged buffoon!  If you run to the burrow when somethin's after ya, you'll be trapped. Besides, you're too big to be as fast as a rabbit when it comes to takin' cover. Now get me some poppy seeds, you're giving me a headache..."

He glanced around, looking for a better idea, for a better escape. He'd been smart enough before to not get cornered...if he could outmaneuver whatever was lurking about, he might be able to slip into another root system without the creature being able to spot him doing so. After all, climbing a tree in the great forest? It was a bust- Remus was too heavy, and whatever branches the great trees were far too high up to reach. He'd be stuck clinging to the bark for dear life.

Without another thought, the silver tabby darted off, heading for the tall fern cover to shake whatever predator might be watching him.

Raventide | Location: Forest | Mentions: Remus

Raventide's eyes shot open with surprise as the large creature ran off into the brush. His hackles prickled, and he followed swiftly, in a steady lope. He'd be foolish to sprint right after - he didn't know this territory like the old one. There could be traps littered in the great forest, so in turn, he took great caution.

It would only be running if it spotted a predatory animal... or scented me. He thought, mentally smacking his face with a paw. The one time you forget about wind directions...

The silver tom made sure that the larger animal stayed in his sights at all times, slowing down a little when he got too close, but still staying a comfortable distance. Something that large can't have so much stamina, right? He flicked his ears, swerving over a bundle of sticks. I want to see what this is... it could be a danger to Sunclan, and if so, I can't just let it slip. While this may be stupid of me, running after it, I see it as a necessary step to reinforce the safety of my clan.

Gosh, I think a lot.

Daystep || Location: Temp. Camp || Mentions: Spiderfang, Shadedfern

It didn't take much to wake the she-cat up from a slumber, especially since having to leave home, so as the voices of both Spiderfang and Shadedfern reached Daystep's ears, she stirred, blinking awake. She heard them mention going on patrol, and lifted her head, glancing over at them with a wide yawn. She shifted her gaze to see if she could spot Foxstar in the area where she slept, but saw nothing. She must have slipped out earlier that morning. She turned her head back to Spiderfang and Shadedfern before speaking.

"Wouldn't it be more sensible to wait until Foxstar gets back before heading out anywhere?" She asked them, moving to stand and quickly stretch her limbs. "Perhaps she has assignments for us," she added, turning her head to groom her shoulder a bit before looking back to them.

🦊Foxstar | Location: Twoleg Bridge | Mentions: Mudsong🦊

In response to Mudsong's playful swats, she swung her tail down over her face briefly. "No, I think I'll stay back and make sure everyone is gathered and ready."

The young leader glanced back at the forest across the bridge, giving a soft sigh. It would be fun and exciting to lead an expedition, exploring the strange new place as quickly or steadily as she wished. But, with no deputy, who would manage the migration of the rest of her clan? No, she would have plenty of time once she knew everyone else was safe and sound in their future (or rather, present) home.

"That sounds like a great idea. I wouldn't mind you leading one of the scouting parties, actually, and you can take whoever else you want. I'm sure Hawkpaw will be proud to be a part of SunClan history." Her worries shifted towards her young nephew. I hope he's doing alright. He won't talk to me, or anyone else it seems. I just want to see that gentle, carefree kit he used to be come back.

🦅Hawkpaw | Location: Temporary Camp | Mentions: N/a🦅

Hawkpaw paused in his trampling and scented the air. Dozens of new smells wafted over him, as well as familiar ones, such as mice. However, they were all stale. Flicking an ear and wrinkling his nose, he turned away from them dismissively. Who wanted scrawny little mice, anyways? He was looking for squirrel. The tabby apprentice veered harshly to the right, towards the tree line. The towering redwoods took his breath away, even from some distance. Unconsciously, his paws landed softer, feeling smaller and less significant compared to the ancient giants.

|Palestripe|Location: Temporary Camp/Forest|Mentions: Hawkpaw|

It was a strange feeling to leave his old home behind, abandoning it after the fire. Everything was once so stable. What did StarClan wish for Foxstar and her ragtag clan? Palestripe needed time to think, and so he got up for a stroll. He wandered through the dense undergrowth surrounding the camp, finding the trail of a certain apprentice.

The scent and trail were rather easy to follow. He meandered along, curious to Hawkpaw's intentions. Palestripe figured the apprentice was probably just hunting. The forest was getting denser, and the trees began to stretch into the sky, so tall they threatened to touch the sun. It was awe-inspiring. Palestripe found Hawkpaw in a similar state, gazing up in awe at the towering redwoods. Cool and serene was the undergrowth as he stood silently in the clearing, feeling like a place of such beauty should not be disturbed by a mere elder. StarClan may have brought fire, but they also brought SunClan to a place of unrivalled splendor.

🕷Spiderfang | Location: Temporary Camp | Mentions: Shadedfern, Daystep🕷

The dark tabby ducked away from the assaulting paws, purring in amusement. Pulled forehead to forehead with the other tom, he butted his head against Shadedfern's affectionately. He shook himself once he was released, turning his ears towards his friend.

"Well, lucky me." he purrs, then shaking his head, "No word from Foxstar yet, I just figured your lazy bones had enough rest already." Spiderfang began grooming as well, licking a paw and repetitively pulling it down over one ear. At the chiming in of another voice, he turned to see who it was. Gaze landing on the striking split pelt, he immediately recalled his lifelong denmate, Daystep.

"What's so wrong about being eager to serve our clan?" Spiderfang bantered playfully. He surveyed the awakening cats, also finding the leader absent.

"If she has plans for us this morning, it's a bit counterintuitive not to be here to tell us."

Shadedfern | Location: Temp. Camp | Mentions: Spiderfang, Daystep

Shadedfern smiled at his friend's response. "I'm not lazy, I'm just conserving energy!" He purred, his tail flicking too and fro. He, too, turned his head to see Daystep looking at the pair.

He let Spiderfang do the talking, nodding along to his words."Very true!" He said towards the end, raising a paw to add emphasis. His ears twitched, however, when he realized what his friend had said.

Scanning the bundle of felines about, he noticed that the pelt of his leader nor her best friend was there, and his buddy's words were deemed true. He stared at the scenery around them, green eyes narrowing.

"Y'know, maybe they already went on their own patrol." He concluded, seeing that not only them, but Hawkpaw, Palestripe, and Raventide were missing as well. "They aren't the only ones gone."

Turning to look at Spiderfang, he tilted his head. "Do you think we should go out ourselves if that's the case?"
