Development Update #6

Posted 2021-02-10 09:15:45

Agreed, the concept of the confirmed carry being listed on the wolf's page is A+! But please consider letting us only gene confirm for one mutation at a time for 50sc maybe instead of lumping everything all in at 150sc. That is only useful for NBWs. Think of all the project litters of carriers that DONT need to be tested for all 3 mutations - just 1!

As someone who just got back in and started checking my wolves for carriers, Gene is a significant blessing

Definitely agree with everyone else—150 is way too high.

A good solution might be to pay to check each mutation individually, maybe 30 sc each. That accounts for puppies who have mutant/carrier parents and would only have to be checked for one gene (the bulk of what most people were scrying), and maintains an equivalent price to scrying. I can even see an argument for 40 or 50 each, if this was meant to increase the value of sc.

But 150 is *far* too high.

I'm really looking forward to trying these hunting updates. I've lived in the taiga for over a month with a 100% hunting party, and only today did I get my first successful medium trail hunt. (before this update was released) I'm hoping these changes will make it easier for my wolves going forward!

With how hard SC is to obtain, 150 is extremely high. I do like the new game mechanic though, it's nice to be able to see confirmed carriers and not have to guess and hope for the best in the trading center. But my gosh, SC is super hard to earn and keep when supporting packs.

I think Mulch's idea is really great, maybe separating each mutation scry as different fees is the way to go!

@Volinolona That sounds like a fair point; I'm new to Wolvden but used to play Lioden obsessively. Even though this game is new I'm already seeing a real problem with the wolf market (thankfully I don't really care much about that).

The point I was trying to make is that I think this will potentially help increase the rarity of both mutations and confirmed carriers, and if there are fewer of them and demand does not change then theoretically their price will stabilize. Especially for someone who does manage to breed a new line.

Obviously I'm not an economist so I'm speculating but I don't think keeping the price (relatively) low is a real solution just because it's what people are used to. Perhaps they can lower it to something like 100 SC but I still think it should be a somewhat prohibitive cost so people aren't just scrying every single wolf.

I agree with everyone saying it should be 50 SC per mutation, not just all 3 at once. Please, for the love of god, lower that price. SC is so hard to reliably get without tons of extra items & a dedication to that accursed snake. I had money to blow so I used the stone and let me say, not worth it, don’t do it guys. A month or two of work into that stone because of a dumb split second decision. D o n t d o i t
