Petition to Change 1 Fish per 10 Minutes -> 144 Fish per day

Posted 2021-01-29 11:11:48

I apologize for my condescending attitude, I didn't mean to sound too harsh.

All my experience about fishing is based on how I witness it in rainforest where it's also rare to find more than 5 lb of fish when it's not raining, but it rains quite often and leaderboard position jumps are quite common then unless somewolf has scored really high. All biomes have the same in-game mechanic and accepting this suggestion would change the situation in all biomes, more or less.

Addressing #24018's concerns:

---

  • "First, you suggest to squeeze all the fishing to a short period of time. Currently, I can go fishing at any time and whenever I like I can just go there, earn some cones and delicate meat, enjoying relaxing sounds. If your suggestion was implemented, many would consider fishing as something that should be completed as daily task. It means I go fishing, reach the limit and I'm done for the day. If the limit hasn't reached yet, something would itch in my head that I didn't exploit fishing as fully as possible. Once I reach the limit and I'd like to keep fishing, instead of waiting 10 minutes I would have to wait hours till the rollover. It would be too much waiting."

I never suggested for you to squeeze your fishing into a short period time. I'm simply making the point that some users might want to do their fishing at once (I have seen older folks on this site who write in their bios that they have kids, a job, etc.!), and others might do it throughout the day. You can still play it how you want! There would be no time limits needed if there was a submission cap. (If the devs implement a submission cap, then I think you should still be able to fish afterwards. You just won't be able to submit anything. But, yes, you could call it a wraps and consider it done for the day.)

But, to counter what you've said here, isn't this entire game waiting? Scouting takes time, hunting takes time, your lead wolf's energy takes time to refresh. Considering that, I don't entirely understand your first point. :(c

However, my point still stands that a cap of 144 is already the total amount of fish you can possibly catch in one day, if you played every 10 minutes of a 24 hour day!

---

  • Second, how would daily rankings look? Currently, I see real-time based competition. Current leaders have actual advantage: if they keep fishing till the rollover not letting their competitors catch better fish, they win. If your suggestion was implemented, most players would wake up seeing rankings filled by players who have reached their limits in fishing. It would give an unfair advantage for those who start fishing later because they know how much their fish should weigh to guarantee that they kick out the current leaders. Fisherwolves would practice sniping in the last hour.

This is a good point, but is there not already an advantage that active players have over casual players? My point still stands from before where I said, "What if the devs distinguished between two modes of playing the game? Tournament mode and casual mode? Tournament mode could have a time limit, and it could earn you a place on the leaderboards. Casual mode could just be for fun, food, amusement, and SC!"

Some may think that advantage that active players currently hold over casual players is fair, and yeah that makes sense. Surely the devs want to maximize the time their players spend playing their game. I'm currently trying to think of some ideas that would eliminate this problem we're having here, and the best one I can think of is tournament mode vs. casual mode.

---

  • "Third, weather affects fishing: when it rains, you're more likely to catch better fish. Currently, when I see it rains, I can go fishing because I expect an easy good catch. This way I can quickly beat current competitors within a short time spent on fishing. Also when it rains, I should be worried because my competitors can easily beat me. When it doesn't rain, it's tough to find a good fish within 10 minutes as it can be caught during raining just after a few tries. If your suggestion was implemented, there would be no reason for weather affection as most professional fisherwolves would know when to go fishing and beat amateurs who try to reach the leaderboards by actively fishing."

I'm sorry, but I don't really understand what you're trying to say here. ^_^"

---

  • "Fourth, the fishing already has easy rewards, which are better than nothing. If your suggestion was implemented, it would be the easiest SC source where players can quickly earn 100 SC for free within a few minutes and hoard delicate meat which would become the only item to sell to the raccoon."

I... don't see how this is a bad thing? I personally struggle with gaining SC. I have 349 SC right now, and my main source of income is the daily quest and trades. I think an added 100 SC per day would be nice, especially since I know many who struggle to get territory slots.

Particularly, I think it would also be an excellent thing for newer players to utilize.

Also, you can already get that 100 SC per day from fishing. It's just a little too... time-consuming! I consider myself to play this game quite a bit, and the most I've gotten in a day is maybe around 50 SC. I don't consider that "free."

  • "This game rewards activity and limits those who are too active. If I'm only active to catch 2 fish, I get rewards for 2 fish. Leave better rewards for more active players."

Some people can't be that active. Why not make the game fun for everyone who plays, not just "active" players?

---

  • "Your concern is that sometimes you forget about the game and accidentally close it losing a valuable fish. This suggestion is not the right solution because it punishes prudent players for clumsiness of the others. Consider coming up with a better alternative to your concern, such as making fisherwolves keep their fish when closing the game."

Alright, then perhaps the better solution could be that the game simply keeps whatever fish you are holding, regardless on whether you close the game or refresh the page. I'm sure that would require a lot of coding, and probably a little extra effort and space if a lot of people intend on holding catches for a long period of time. I have no idea how websites like this function, but that just seems like a lot of work to code that in!

Also, thank you for apologizing. I don't wish this post to devolve into an argument, so I kindly ask everyone to keep it civil. I mean, hey, we're all here playing the same game, right? ^w^

Nothing wrong with just some friendly debate, though. Dżanek did bring up some fair points!

Support! My internet tends to cut out which means I've lost 20+ lb fish and legendary fish while waiting to submit them D: I tend to only play a few fish at a time, and I almost never reach the limit as is, so this wouldn't really affect how I play the game or my enjoyment of it, it would just keep my internet from cutting me off from a winning a turtle or newt lol

You've got my support! I'm fairly active on the site and the ten minute time cap frustrates me to no end, especially when I manage to catch two fairly heavy and/or rare fish and have to toss one back because I'm still waiting on my timer to go down. ^^;

Support! I'm a more casual player since I work a full-time job and it's hard trying to play this game because of how limited my time is :S I'd love to be able to submit fish whenever instead of waiting for a timer (a timer I don't have time to wait for) so I can play at my own pace and be able to enjoy the game like everyone else. I've fished like? 3 times? since the game came out & this would make it easier so I can just sit there, max out, leave especially since it doesn't save your fish in your hand if you leave the tab :(

I support!
My internet is really bad, and I too am a clumsy oaf who reloads the page or closes out of it on accident (usually because I'm trying to click ON the tab, but stray too close to that cursed "x" without noticing ;A;)

This has made me lose out on the first fish I ever caught that was over 30lbs, because I was waiting on the timer to run down. If this was fixed, I could submit my fish and then leave the tab without worrying that I'll close out of it! (I could also just close out of it when I'm done without having to leave the tab open to wait for fish cooldowns and slow down whatever else I'm doing ^^;)

Support! I have only played on a computer, which is good, but on mobile, it sounds horrible. Yesterday I spent like 2 hours fishing every chance I had and got around 52 SC. Yeah, I also got around 15 delicate meats and selling them will give some more, but still it's not that much compared to the time I spent.

The hourly cap would be awesome or some way to get the fish to keep itself on mobile (aka changing windows wouldn't throw it away, it doesn't on computer so why on mobile lol). I am too tired to try to think things in English (not native), but I support this idea and the competition version too. ^^
