Apparently I need an idiots guide

Apparently I need an idiots guide

I've been playing this game since it came out for free and I've never gotten prey from a hunt, can really make sc and all my wolves have left because starvation. I did not expect this to be anything like Lioden but I also didn't expect the game to totally fly over my head. I've read guide after guide and I still can't manage to even grasp this game so if anyone has "An Idiots Guide to Wolvden", could you send me the link?

You never had a successful hunt? If that’s possible, I would say your wolves all probably had clashing personalities? If you have an aggressive and a romantic or a friendly and a stoic (I think those are the one that clash, but you’d have to check the grouse house personality guide to be sure!) I think they usually get in fights instead of hunting.
I would stay in one of the beginner biomes until your wolves are high stat because biome difficulty affects hunting as well. My hunts drastically reduce their success in the winter too, but that’s a normal game mechanic.
You can get an awful lot of food/critters/meat scraps just through explore encounters. When I had my beginning pack (5 hunters, 1 scout, 1 herbalist, 1 pupsitter) I think I only fed them meat chunks and sold the critters to raccoon for SC and other carcasses I hunted on the TC to make money.
Even now, I’ve stayed in the beginner biomes and just well my extra carcasses and have amassed quite a bit of currency. I bury the SC I have and don’t waste it on scrying stone for breedings or ultrasounds. I don’t really use outside studs either so that saves me money. I don’t really breed actually because it’s so hard to sell pups on the TC anyway, you might sell them for 20sc but that’s nothing compared to the resource drain they are.
Other than that, anytime you think anything is weird just keep reading the grouse house guides!
Hope some of that helps!
I’m sure you’ve seen this guide but Click

edit: ugh I’m posting from mobile I didn’t realize how terribly it formats. Sorry if it looks like a wall of text!

You don't have to send me wolves but thank you anyway. I've read the hunting guide and tried to get compatible personalities, I'm also still in a setarter biome. I just thought it was a laughable/facepalm situation. I figure I'll either get used to the game or quit all together

Don't quit! It's not intuitive so other players helped me out with tips, & now I do the same for new players. I'll send you some links to help get you on your feet/paws.

Okay so I've got NBWs with good stats and I've made sure their personalities don't clash, they been on four hunts, and gained proficiency but still haven't gotten any prey

Looks like your hunters match up well! There will be more fails than successes in the beginning but as their synergy goes up (it decreases a lot if you remove/add wolves to the party) you’ll bag more prey, more like 50%.

My team now with 100% synergy and role experience is able to bag a large prey almost every hunt more than 50% of the time (in grasslands). But for now, stick with critter trails!
