pronoun changes?

If there will be the option to leave site just how it is now in settings, then I have nothing against this feature

I think this is a cute idea, but I support the idea of having a toggle button for players who don't need to see the extra pronouns displayed.

Personally it wouldn't add anything to my pack lore since I don't have any trans wolves and I wouldn't want to see even more info clogging up the wolf pages (since it's a lot to read already) but I think it would be a good addition for people who want more flavor text!
(Or a nice middle ground that's already been mentioned... of the game defaulting to they/ them when referring to your wolves.)

They're literally wolves as part of a wolf game legitimately centered specifically around breeding of all things. This is an entirely unnecessary thing for being its own specific, unique feature. Wolves in general have no concept of gender identity and sexuality regardless of your fantasized "headcanons". So it plays no genuine or integral role in the game other than to unnecessarily focus a feature catered to a group of people that simply are confusing viable features with little wish list desires.

If you want pronouns so bad, either place it in brackets in the wolf's actual name or just toss it in the footnotes. Literally not that hard. If it's that difficult to live without a dedicated pronouns feature, go find a wolf RP forum. There's tons around that allow for pronouns and sexualities to be specified in their own dedicated biography areas.

If even that is too hard, maybe avoid a game where dedicated gender identities are exceedingly impractical and it's more just excuses to "justify" implementing a dedicated system for it. You have options available already, so use those. I definitely see no logical sense in such an impractical, useless feature meant purely to pander to the wants of a player base and any "reason" one could make is merely nothing more than an excuse to act like they're being intelligent about the matter when it's effectively just a whining with extra steps, nothing more.

That's just the reality of the situation anyway and if you don't like it, then I'm sorry you feel that way. But that's all I'll put down on the matter.

I support! Even if the feature is "useless" and adds little to the game, it's still something that would help folks shape their packs the way /they/ want, which, that is absolutely a huge part of the game — making YOUR own wolf pack and setting it up how YOU want it.

This would be a feature that would only be used by people who have a need for it. So i don't see how it would affect people who aren't interested in using the feature. Its a quality of life tweak not a game changing update and no one wants it to be anything other than that? Customization is a major part of this game and to me this falls in line with that.

Also again this game has never been about realism or accuracy, we literally have blue wolves, other dimensions, magic, immortal wolves, mythical creatures, same sex pairs and the list goes on. Pronouns is not an out of this world concept.

@Tickle this game... has......... instantaneous sex changers, permanent dna-alterers, talking animals, a spirit realm entered via sleeping, plant-animal hybrids, blue & green & purple wolves with spots and stripes and merles, hierarchical structure and designated roles in packs, studding out pack members, animals engaging in the commerce of a capitalist economy, clans/groups that exist separately from the packs, medicinal remedies... etc? Pronoun changes are like the most realistic thing they could possibly add by now lol ^^'

I'm frankly baffled why this idea is facing such vehement opposition. Some people are getting.... oddly riled up about it when it's literally just a small quality of life feature that would help with characters, world building, pack lore, and roleplay, which are all integral aspects of this website. It's fine if you just play for the breeding, but that's absolutely not all there is to this game. It's something that you don't have to use or ever interact with if you don't like it, so why are people getting so upset?

I've said it before, and others have said so before me, but realism isn't a good excuse. Why are you okay with magic glowing wolves, sex changing items, and the Herbalist role but not, among this feature's many other uses, making trans and queer players more comfortable?

All that said - I fully support this! I think it would be a really great addition to the game that I would absolutely use c:

@tickle this game already has plenty of unnecessary features, though. same sex pair-bonds, the ability to designate wolves as adoptive parents, personalities, bios, the illness system, ect...

also, kinda confused where the whole "confusing viable features with little wish list desires" bit is coming from. as far as I've seen no one has been like "wolvden absolutely needs to let us select pronouns or the game shouldn't exist!!!11" everyone in support has pretty much been like "this would be a cool feature to have!"

ngl personally I feel like you're reading way too much into it. like you said yourself, at the end of the day this is //a game//. It's not strange for games to have features that exist purely for the enjoyment of players.

I fully support this irrational illogical addition to the game because I want people to have fun <3
