Woes of the Market

Woes of the Market

Is it just me or does the pup market really suck. T1 pups are virtually unsellable unless they have godly stats, and some t2s are as well. As someone who's played since day 1 of public release I have a pretty good foothold in the game, I've filled my lair with mostly decent t2 females, or wolves I otherwise like. I'm able to keep decent funds coming in, but I owe exactly 0 of that profit to the breeding females I've spent so much money on. I have not managed to sell a single pup, and that's including the t2s.

With the current data I've collected, my male has a ~25% yield of t2 pups when bred with other t2 base females. 75% of the pups he produces yield me absolutely no profit, yet they force me to take my females off work, mainly hunting, which is actually what brings me most of my profit. And even the 25% of pups he has produced that are t2 base, have not given me profit. Simply put, breeding my females actually gives me less profit than just keeping them working and hunting. Which is extremely disappointing to me as a player because the breeding aspect was what drew me to this game. But breeding so far has been extremely unrewarding compared to just grinding explore/hunt and selling those items instead.

The fact that 350+ stat t2 pups are going for as cheap as 300sc says something. Nobody will buy them otherwise. And the standards are just continuing to rise as the weeks pass. I feel really bad for newbies who start out with t1s and find out their pups are literally unsellable, and probably will continue to be for the first 2 months of their playtime.

TL;DR breeding in this game sucks cry with me.

Everything you said is right, just a tip, you don't have to take your females off work when you breed them, just nest them at the last possible minute!

Oh trust me, I do. But they still have to nurse the pups for 5 days.

They can still hunt and do jobs while nursing though. But I definitely understand your frustration towards selling pups. The only thing I can think of in regards to selling more is maybe change the way you name the trades? Obviously you’re more experienced and know wording makes a difference, but that seems to play a big role when I sell mine.

Huh, I didn't realize they could still hunt while nursing. They can't scout so I assumed they couldn't hunt.

Market is still trash tho lmao.

Strange, I've had wolves being able to happily scout even while nursing! Nesting is only a last minute thing to do before rollover

You could try making an auction/sale page on the forums. Those are pretty popular, and I'd assume the place people usually look for pups to buy.

Can't agree more, the pup market is poor, I struggle to give decent tier I pups away for free

I think a part of the reason for the poor market is there is less incentive to buying new wolves. It's quite pricey to increase den slots, and there are only so many roles that can level up your wolves. Unlike in Lioden where I can set all females to hunters and level them up as needed, hunting is much more intricate. Higher stated wolves yield better results and the wolves need to have compatible personalities. You can't easily swap wolves or you lose proficiency in that party and for whatever role it is. Then the other roles are very limited in the number of wolves, and if you aren't keeping many pups you won't need many nurses.

Basically, the game is pretty punishing to random wolf buying. I learned pretty fast that, for most folks, there is no profit to be made in selling pups. I just chase the ones I don't want because otherwise they eat up my resources.
