Weaned Pup "Hunting Parties"

Weaned Pup "Hunting Parties"

I requested the vague idea in main chat, and it seems some people took interest to it.

Pup "hunting parties", consisting of weaned pups only, can go out in groups of 5, like regular hunters. Instead of carcasses, these 5 pups, set into an alike position of actual hunting parties, can come back to the pack with extra toys and sometimes decors (butterflies most likely).

They can be "stalkers" (pups who spot what they want to catch, sometimes using their nose), "chasers" (3 pups who all try to bring items to a landing if airborne or teamwork scavenge for alike items that are on the ground), and "finishers" (pups who carry everything back and/or catch the decors with careful precision).

The pups will only stay in the home territory as like actual hunting parties and only bring back decors/toys in the region.

This can also solve the issue with waiting on scouts to return from rescouting and having to wait for a full energy bar just to get a few feathers and/or herbs. Of course, being that weaned pups are small, they are going to be limited to 4 items maximum, as each one can carry 1 item and for some larger objects, 2 can carry back, with varying amounts due to seasonal changes and weather.

Anyways, if there's more that could be added onto the idea, let me know and I'll edit it onto there. Otherwise uhh, yeah. Have.

I would make a few suggestions:

1. Change this to be adolescent wolves. As mini-adults, they can get the practice and start bumping skills BUT make it harder for them to gain pack role points/experience (maybe 50% of adults).

2. Expand this for all roles. Adolescents can be groomed for certain roles like herbalist in training, scout, hunter. This would allow adolescents to start getting experience/skills and make them more valuable to be traded/bought.

Support!

I've been thinking about suggesting a mentorship thing for a long time, and I'm glad someone else had the same idea!

I agree with what's been said -- adolescents instead of puppies make a whole lot more sense (just because, they're older, and they would likely be more concerned with practicing more anyway) and also to expand this to any role, not just hunting.

This would be great for when you do have to replace roles in your pack with later generations, you don't have to start with nothing. Granted, of course, it'd be kinda cheap for them to be able to gain 100% proficiency before they age up to adult, so capping that a little would make sense. Maybe adolescents can gain a maximum of 25% proficiency while in "training" ? IDK maybe that's too much It'd be REALLY cool if they can gain stats, too.

Looking at the second suggestion from Breggo as well, I feel like having both ages have different 'hunt' options would work as well.

For pups, it could be small 1-2 use amusement items, since they're things that would catch a pups eye, or common decoration applicators as well.

Then for adolescents, they could find 1-5 use amusement items (higher use items being rarer), possibly some crafting items for when more recipes are implemented, and have a VERY rare chance of actually catching a small, common prey item that could give them a special stat boost associated with the prey.

That's an amazing idea. So you don't only find toys from explore, and so the wolves aren't useless until their an adult! Smart.

Support! Though I also agree with what has been said above and it should be adolescents instead of pups.

With weaned pups you're still dealing with pup injuries and survival chance so it doesn't make too much sense to send a bunch of then out on their own to learn. As opposed to adolescents who are guaranteed to live and don't do anything at this exact moment.
