Posted 2022-11-02 06:19:26 #869101 Support! I have wolves that just keep popping into heat and I can't breed them as I don't want inbred wolves and they're reated to my stud. Also have a wolf that has been bred every heat and yet has no living offspring as she has never given anything worth keeping. But she is my herbalist so she's not going anywhere. I would love to be able to make some of my wolves infertile like that to get those options out of the way Heck, maybe there could be a boost to stats or something that would make it seem worthwhile for other people to consider. Idk.

I also suggest that when a wolf changes packs, the toggle turns the heats back on, because I can easily see someone purchasing a wolf, not realizing that heats are toggled off and missing the females heats because the symbol is hidden. I absolutely would do that, which would be upsetting since I mostly buy wolves with intent to breed them at a later date. The alternate option is to let players set a toggle default for new wolves that join the pack, so that either heats are default turned on or off when first joining the pack. Of course, you would be able to change the toggle for each wolf after it joined the pack, this would just be what the toggle is set to when its first befriended/bought/born etc

In addition, I don't think being "togglable" nor "reversible" is a good idea due to spaying being a legitimately permanent thing. I'd advocate for infertile wolves like on LD, but if you don't want to breed a wolf just don't.

It's pointless, just don't breed the wolf, be careful when you're choosing who to breed and just deny heat requests, like adding to footnotes or bios that they're not available. I feel forcing infertility instead of just the simple solution of ignoring the heat might make scams or other incidents happen. If you do breed the wrong wolf just don't nest them, chase the pups. Spaying is literally removing part of the reproductive system, so it makes no sense to be reversible/a toggle.

It will be a nice benefit for players who do use it, and it won't affect players who don't. Calling it "Toggle Heat" instead also clarifies that it is only a cosmetic change and not a gameplay one.

I don't want devs to waste their time on this, personally. Not when they could be working on something better. EDIT: I think introducing a cotton root bark equivalent would be a better solution, also. Terminates the pregnancy without sterilizing the wolf, doesn't cause the abundance of other problems that sterilization would.
