Non-Rollover Chatting

Non-Rollover Chatting

You know... Some days I just won't have the energy to play and rolling over would be a waste of half a month of age for my wolves and all that. But It would be nice to just be able to Chat.

I realize that might be problematic for sales and such - but mabye you could only access certain forums? News, Waterhole, Free-for-all, Share the love, Tree carvings, Game Developement, RP, help and 18+ seem to be good without affecting the gameplay. So only Stockpile would have to be taken out of the Forums for someone logged in but not rolled over.

Hmm... I see no harm allowing access to forums without rolling over. As it wouldn't give you anything extra, so... why not?

maybe underneath the posters username it could have something saying "this user has not done rollover today"? that might be easier to code than restricting certain forums

Yeah probably. I was more thinking that people might stop rollling over to set up a trade or so. I would be okay with any idea or restriction that allows me and other people to just chat when full out olaying is just.. "Too much" you know?

I don't see why access to chatter (and maybe news) can't be free to view and post on regardless of rollover. I might be missing something on how anyone could abuse a trade if they couldn't access their den/crossroads/trade center/hoard in any fashion w/o doing their RO, but I'd support even access to limited boards if that's the concern.

There's been plenty of times I've wanted to check threads or message someone but I had to RO to be able to do so.

Support!

It's not a problem I've run into yet as I'm able to rollover everyday, but I know in the future it would be very nice to access the forms without having to worry about my wolves.

I really like sandshrew's idea to have it say that the user hasn't rolled over.

I feel like it could be abused - you could simply not rollover and freeze your wolves, then maintain a sales/auction thread on the side, allowing you to sell wolves without any decay/aging.

Personally don't support this.

Edit: I stand corrected! As long as the sales part of Chatter is locked away I support!

@Frisk This is why I said it could have the restriction of not being able to access sales.

What is to be abused of having the whole Creative and just talking side accessible? Because I know I will lose interest in the game if I can't use the forum to talk in the weeks where I'm not going to have the energy to play. And having people to talk to and art to look at and Friends to chat up generally helps.

Can support keeping the creative side open - sorry I think I missed that part of your post!

I'll edit my post to reflect on that

Support!  Though I also support access to sales forum.  I don't think being able make conversation on trades while not rolling over is a problem, afterall not rolling over means you also don't get to progress otherwise.  I feel like allowing trades would reduce the stress involved in finding buyers for particularly special wolves with the caveat of having to lose a day of progress.  It would be especially helpful for people who need to sell a wolf before they roll over so they don't leave, as it would allow them to advertise a trade.
Since new trades can't be set unless you roll over I don't see any huge advantage that I would consider abuse here.  People talk about trading already on exterior sites like discord, so it would just add that functionality to the website rather than force them outside of it.  Actual trades also expire after 7 days or something too, so there's a limit to how much a person can stall anyway.

Of course, I support it either way, even if trading forums are locked this is something I've been desperately in want of!
