What is "sacrifice for vigor"?

I was just feeding my pack and clicked into a food item (a 3-use stoat) and it gave me the option of "sacrifice for vigor" in yellow. Curious, I clicked it. It consumed the stoat, but I can't tell what, if anything, it did.

Any ideas?

I just checked and the option shows up on other food items that don't drop a remnant. My decision to sacrifice the stoat also doesn't show up in my user log.

Correction to my earlier posts: Clicking on the sacrifice option doesn't consume the item, and the option has only appeared for me on low-use items like stoats and gulls, but not higher-use items like walrus pups.

More data gathering to come.

Really? I used the whitetail carcass and boar carcass. Interesting. Whitetail gave me +10 vigor.
A few of theories here
1. Related to energy regen? (Because the word "vigor" is kind of connotation of energy)
2. Maybe related to battle chances (Because, again, of the connotation)
3. Kind of stupid one, but maybe if you infuse enough vigor to "Halloween" themed things such as effigies, it comes to life and becomes more valuable currency?

Rabbit
Muskrat
Beaver
Muskox calf
Porcupine
Seal pup
Whitetail
Pronghorn doe

No option:
Caribou calf
Walrus pup
Ground squirrel
Mink
Meat chunk (small)
Meat chunk (medium)
Doe
Blacktail
Dall sheep

Expanding on your list! (Some items repeated). So far, the items that seems to work for me are
Food: agouti, beaver, boar, grouse, gull, hare, muscrat, opossum, peccary, both pheasants, porcupine, both pronghorns, quail, Rabbit, small doe, stoat, swine, and whitetail 		Koa

People in the chat says that some amusement can also be sacrificed.
They are also theorizing that "Vigor" might be a wolf. 		Koa
