Limit the Number of Trades a Player Can Post

Posted 2020-11-21 22:48:23 (edited)

@VincentMango

It is not so much a competition for who has the lowest price but instead for who has their stuff seen. The wolves section of the stockpile forum is a perfect example of this. For example, if I maxed out my trade limit and I had wolves I wanted to sell I would have to post them in the sales forum and not only would I be competing with people selling similar wolves but I would also be competing with people selling different wolves too. This goes the same for items as well. I can price stuff high on the trading center and still have it sell as long as I put in a few key words (e.g. “food bundle” or “merle”) so it has nothing to do with low prices but everything to do with it being seen, whether it is listed on the trading center, or posted on the fast-moving forums.

@ Kat

My point is more applicable to items then wolves as value is much more subjective to each person. Either on the forums or the trading center people buy things based on price - no one would buy an elk bull priced at 50sc if there are ones available at 30sc. Once the lowest price runs out people jump to the next lowest. Price is like the main factor in buying things lmao.

As for the being seen point - people having unlimited trades makes your stuff less likely to be seen, ive given up on searches in the trading post for basic items because i was so inundated with hundreds of posts all at the very top of the list that were simply put kinda terrible.

My hill to die on for this topic is just finding a way to deal with spam trades, i can see things from both sides but so far a reasonable limit seems like the best way to curb that imo - if youve seen some better options suggested id love to check them out : )

I just want to say that I support this. Maybe it's me being stubborn, but even after reading 5+ pages of arguments, I cannot understand why it's so essential to some players to have 100+ trades up all at once, especially when these one-item/duplicate/spam trades end up sitting there for rollover after rollover. The TC is an overburdened, oversaturated, spam-filled mess right now. A trade limit (one that is reasonable, like a maximum of 100, or even 200 or 300 per player, if that's the best compromise) would help.

Also, we - and I mean this respectfully and with no offense intended - shouldn't be trying to shut someone and their criticisms down because it seems like they're unpopular. I'm chiming in now after seven pages because I saw that comment, even though I've been following this thread and agreeing with OP from the start. It's dismissive, and it's unfair to those of us who agree with this suggestion.

Edit: I also like the idea of at the very least somehow putting a cap on how many trades of the same item players can have publicly active. It could help with trimming down the several pages of "SC for GC" trades all made by one player, for example. Not sure if this idea should be it's own suggestion thread, though, so I'll just leave it at that!

Huge support. The market needs some help right now and limiting trades would be one way to start addressing that. And frankly it makes the game harder, which is what I like about Wolvden.

  • Cap total number of item and currency trades up at once (ex. 100).
  • No cap on wolf trades.
  • GC Grove Item Shop purchase that allows more trades at once (ex. 200), lasting for one month.

No support, there's no need for this and I don't think a trade cap will fix things, besides people aren't on Wolveden all day and this can frustrate a lot of people who want to make SC/GC and sell wolves.

I understand your frustration completely but no support from me, It’s how a lot of us make any money at all in the game if we dont want to or cant put real money into it.

Limiting has its pros but also cons. In my opinion I think the trading center would suffer if this was a feature. I buy mostly from single item trades.

I'm still up for if not limiting the number of trades itself, at least limiting how many trades you can bump at a time. It may not help servers a lot, but it would save the pages and pages of duplicate trades on the front page if you are limited on how many you can bump.

So that way, people can have the hundreds of trades, and they can still be bought when people search for that specific thing. On trades not doing too hot, they can be rotated on being bumped.

The inherent problem is that a large reason as to why this happens is that there is no user created shop system outside of trades and until there is, this will continue to be an issue regardless of what is done

while i dont support this as it is now, i think if they decided to implement this ever it would be better suited to trade categories. instead of having an umbrella limit, having a limit of × per category might be better.

another option could be a slow-mode. × trades per × time.

im a mass breeder and online constantly. i would really be hindered by this being implemented haha...
