Additional variant of breeding: setting pairs

Support! It would allow pack males to breed, and the cooldowns to splitting them up would prevent people from using this as a way to get around the one breeding male system we have now. I would like to keep the perks, since pairing a female would be a limitation on her ability to breed to any breeding male, and the perks make up for that loss.

Support! TBH, my breeding male is a little ugly (he makes terrible pups with all of my girls and is a big reason why I haven't bred past the intro quest) but I don't have the money to replace him. Assigned mates would make my life much easier and aligns with how I write lore, as well

sorry, no support from me. i think this idea to have all males be breedable within the pack with cooldowns like females just is a better and simpler solution. the food for thought is interesting, but it just seems like too much work when there's a simpler answer that can be implemented sooner

I like this idea in principle but agree with others that the proposed perks are too good. A more appropriate perk, in my opinion, would be a small boost (6%? 10%?) to the puppies' survival. I also agree that a 20-day cooldown is too small. Perhaps instead the female could simply be unable to breed during her next heat - like the heat symbol is greyed out or something - and she's only breedable again on her following heat.

I'll support any change to the breeding system that makes males more useful.  I honestly thought the breeding system would be better and the combat system the same compared to lioden, as opposed to the same breeding system and, in my opinion, a worse combat system.

This is probably the only "more than one breeding male" idea I like. But I think it should have strict rules so people don't abuse it.

Like that the pair is permanent and could eventually only be split by paying GC (maybe the same amount as removing the breeding male) and that both wolves can't become part of another pair.

And that maybe each user can have a limited number of pairs (maybe with some "Pair slots"?)


I firmly believe that having too much freedom with breeding to any males in your pack would kill the whole studding mechanic. But something more strict, like permanent pairs, might be a good compromise that can make happy lots of lore players.

I like the idea as you can bonded pairs but think it would need to be limited to one bond per account and doesn't need the extra perks as the bond would be one :)

I like piffles suggestion for a GC cost to break up and that the wolves can't be pairs again to keep the game "harder" otherwise would be open to abuse of just over breeding. Players will have to put more thought into breeding which would be useful to those who have breeding projects

I would really like this, I want more puppies from my two stater wolves but it just isn't practical to turn my starter male into a breeding male given his lack of markings. This would be sooooooooo amazing. I would also agree to no perks, I think you should just be able to pair up two wolves, if you want to.

Sounds nice!  I'd be happy with either this or the more general "breed all males within the pack" idea - both have slightly different advantages (fun lore vs flexibility) but both solve the basic pack structure problem.

I wouldn't mind having some sort of breeding system with the other males. Even if there was a risk of at the end of the breeding the "alpha" might chase the subordinate male out of the pack. at least then I have a chance to get something out of the males... otherwise there is no reason to have them. I know I am going to be replacing all my males with females after this generation with the exception of a breeder.... because why have them? they don't do anything like pack protection or make for stronger hunters or faster healers, or better scouters or any perk to them at all. The males really are, sadly, dead ends. Some of the pups I've sold for discounted rates have been really cute... but because they are males - they just don't get me anything special. I hate to be that way but in a game that limits how many wolves you can have, and how long they live and so on, if we want to get the most out of our wolves they really do need to be females. The males are slot thieves. Make males stronger and better efficient hunters and I'd have a huge change of heart and def. keep some males for hunting - but until then... they are sent to the trade center
