Okay...........

I see Hyjo got a special decor for being the first...
Is decor going to be only for special occasions like this, or will there be a random chance component? If random chance, do you have any idea yet on the %?

Personalities are kind of described in the biome descriptions, but beyond that, is there a determined personality for our snails or is that up to us?

Oh I just had an idea but I'm not sure how it would work...
If the snails had like, an "affinity" that influenced rolls.
Could be at they are *slightly* better at exploring in their home biome or even a different biome? (I'm talking real tiny percentage here <5% Maybe closer to 2.5 or even 1%? Perhaps this could increase with the rarity of the snail?)
Or maybe there being a rare quirk for a snail that improves rolls for a particular category of item...
This would require us to declare which snailer we wish to explore with on a certain day. And the boost should probably only be for the 1 free explore, since that's the one where we are sending the snailers out on their own.

Also... For when we start getting more items: Item Categories? To make it easier for you to determine rolls maybe?
Like Breeding items. Coin items. RNG influencers...

My brain has gone off on a tangent now so just uh- Shoot down anything that probably won't work, since I'm not 100% on current mechanics

1) we may decide to sprinkle in some more "special occassion" decor that comes as a surprise! just to spice things up! but, our main plans for decor are that it will coincide with events and you can purchase it in the shop for a limited time. for example, around christmas we'll have a "happy holidays" event or something, and you can buy "holiday lights decor" for your snail to wear on their shell, something cute like that

2) i've been wondering what else we can do with personalities, too! i did wonder about maybe we could tie the snails personalities into their facial expression? so snailers from the forest floor would look kinda smug, since they're more uptight. but that would mean more art work for mimi, and i don't wanna overload her! for the time being, the personality stuff is just kinda a flavor text, and you're free to determine the personalities of your own snails, if you'd like! in the future we could maybe introduce a "personality changer" item, so you can specify what expression you want your snail to have, and it'd be a paid item only available in the shop, so it'd be worthwhile for mimi to draw the art.

3) that's a great idea! since you only get the one free explore per day, i'd definitely like to it count count! especially for those that are relying pretty heavily on their free daily explore. so, yeah, i'll definitely introduce what you're suggesting. i'm thinking i'll make it so that if you have, say, a pond snailer, if you explore the pond, you'll have a higher chance of finding either a specified item, or a pond egg. it'd also make having a variety of snails more useful.

Okay, so I was thinking about the home biome thing for explore. How will bred snailers be treated? Since they're artificial.
I feel like there are a couple of options for this. You could make it genetic, with a 50/50 shot of inheriting one or the other parent's home biomes. Lore wise you could consider it how monarch butterflies simply know how to migrate and where to go. (Monarchs travel north from wintering in Mexico over the course of 3-4 generations... and each continues to travel north, then that final generation knows to head south in one go come the autumn.)

Another could be utilizing the existing enclosure item, having it emulate a biome to make the clutches' home biome.
If this item is a single-use, you could make separate items for each biome to buy, I don't think whole new art would be necessary, you could just make little buttons moddled after the background of the egg icons to indicate biome.
If it's a multi-use item, you could make it so you can find a single use item in explore (or buy, I suppose) that you could add to your encloser that would allow it to emulate the biome from which it was found. This option implies that a base enclosure exists for hatching neutral eggs, which I would assume would have no bonus for daily explore.

On personality. If we're basing it on the bit of lore, and it having a connection to biome, it would be influenced by the above possibilites, so I think that's something to consider. Like tracking genetics for personalities seems a little strange? While I like the idea of personality being based on the lore, having a pre-drawn expression determined for you would take away just a little bit of the control one has over their snailer.
I do like the idea of the personality changer item though!! Since it would be a requested feature, you'd get one you approve of. Also yeah, please no overworking mimi :)

Sort of like the plantlings thread, are the players allowed to contribute to types of snails and snail shells?
