[Territory Slots] Sell Back Unused Territory Slots
Posted 2023-11-11 12:24:40 (edited) #1091971 Hey, all! So, this is an idea that has been rolling around in my head for awhile, as I have been quite overwhelmed by my pack size lately. My free time and availability have changed since I joined back in January 2021, and feeding 300+ mouths every day has become too much. Now, I know what you're thinking - "just get rid of some wolves!" WELL, if it were that easy, I would not be making this post I am sure others can relate to being very attached to their wolves and buying too many pretty wolves off the TC. I always do massive den clearouts and get rid of a ton of wolves, but my population number constantly creeps backs up because I don't have the added pressure of adols running away due to space issues. The only way I can see myself really getting a handle on my pack size is if I could decrease my adult slots. So, I propose a mechanism that allows players to sell back unused adult slots & unused immortal slots to the game and get their currency back. (You could only sell back slots if they are unoccupied & if you'd still have enough slots left for all of your wolves.) So, let's take my pack for example. I have 155 adult slots which means 775 puppy slots. But right now I only have 147 adult wolves in my den. So, if I sold back my 155th slot to the game, I would get 7 GC back and lose 1 adult slot & 5 puppy slots (which would be fine, because I only have 166 pups in my den). Territory slot prices, for reference: If you then later changed your mind, you'd be able to re-purchase more slots for their regular prices. I just really regret buying as many slots as I did and it would be a huge help for me if I could slowly work on reducing my pack size and sell back the slots for a little extra funds for my projects. Anyway, maybe this is just a me problem, but I thought it was worth posting. Thank you for reading my idea! Please let me know if you have any feedback or constructive criticism. I think this somewhat damages currency-sink utility of den-slots, turning den-slots into a currency bank. Den slots are one of the biggest currency sinks on the site, and I worry that allowing playing to "withdraw" from their currency slots would fuel inflation. I know it's frustrating to over-buy slots, but I don't think it demands a "slot-buyback" system.

I mean, the site desperately needs more SC sinks so personally I think adding more SC sinks would be the solution there.

Additionally, if you look at the chart, it costs about 32K SC & 850 GC to unlock all the territory slots. At the current conversion rate of 1 GC = 500 SC, that means about 64 GC worth of the slots would be purchased with SC, which is only about 7% of the total cost to unlock all of the slots. So I don't see how this is a super effective SC sink to begin with if only 7% of it is made up of SC purchases.
