(I'll put my little character intro here, along with some optional background lore)

Arexus walked through the sun-splashed forest, breathing in the hazy summer air. The day was warm, and he was exhausted after a day of racing through the woods, chasing after the rabbits and other small mammals that called the woods home. His coal-black pelt wasn't helping with the heat,  and as he flopped down by the small brook that ran through the territory, he dipped his paws in the cool water, panting lightly. He thought he could smell another wolf on the breeze, but it was difficult to tell.

Meanwhile, just down that brook, hidden by the fauna bushes waving in the light breeze, wandered the hazy red and white silhouette of Tabitha. Her white base fur coat glistened in the setting sun, with the red streaks across her back and face resembled a sign of fire. But as ferocious as her fur coat appeared to boast of, one could not imagine if her personality was going to come out the same. Her ears perked up as she hears the sounds of Arexus' paws fiddling in the water. But her stance remained confident and carefully navigated through the fauna upstream.

Arexus twitched his ears, convinced that he had heard something. A rabbit, perhaps?  He would love a good meal... Getting silently to his paws, he turned his head downstream, carefully sniffing the air. If it was a wolf... He would be ready. He wasn't aggressive by nature, but living on his own for so long did things to a wolf.

Finally, Tabitha made a very obvious wolf figure appear amidst the tall grass with no apparent sense of stealth, her gaze toward the incoming sounds was nothing but muted. She looked on to see Arexus' black silhouette. Her pose remained upright and she showed no intent to flee. But who would speak first? Who would dare make the first move? Ever so slightly, Tabitha opened her mouth as if to take a sigh.

But she made the move, and softly spoke: ''It's who? Out there, identify!''

Under her breath she gripped the ground with her claws, just in case she had to flee.

Arexus snapped towards the sound, leaping towards the figure. He fell short, landing just in front of the strange wolf. "I am Arexus, wolf of the woods." He spoke with a soft, clear, voice, hoping to keep the other wolf calm. He couldn't risk a fight, no matter how confident he sounded. He kept his tail raised, sizing up the wolf that stood before him. She had a pure white pelt, marked with streaks of fiery red. She seemed confident as well, and could match his skill in a fight. He shifted to his back paws, ready to leap out of the way if she lunged.

Tabitha's reaction remained mute, the stance that Arexus demonstrated did not phase her. She takes a more keen look at him, taking in the details of his eyes, teeth and nose.
''This is your territory?'' she tottered.
''Best I tell you that the wolves that pass through here at night are more scary than you.''
Tabitha's interest in mockery showed strong, but almost convincing. She immediately relaxes her paws from digging into the soil. A raven flies by overhead during the unrequited silence between her words.
''I will leave quickly if it suits you best. Most other territories are no different''
She points her head toward the setting sun about to walk away from Arexus, but...

Arexus seemed taken aback, lowering his tail, and averting his gaze. "This isn't my land. That's simply what loners are called by my former pack. Wolves of the woods." He sniffed curiously, trying to detect any familiar scents on her pelt. "Are you a pack wolf then? I must confess, I haven't seen you wandering these lands before."

''I... uh... no.''
Tabitha took in the question about the pack quite personally, and for the first time exposed some emotion toward Arexus, and it was sadness. She aimed her snout down at the riverside, temporarily gazing at her reflection.
''No land is mine. I've been wandering the world for years, and still have no idea how big it is.''
She finally resumed eye contact with Arexus.
''My pack, so to speak... is long gone,'' she whispered. At this point, her ears cowered into the back of her head and even a gentle closing of her eyes. The reminder that she was alone had other unanswered questions...

Arexus calmed, letting the fur lie flat along his spine.
This wolf wasn't an immediate threat, and it was nice to lower his guard, and speak calmly.
The mention of a former pack saddened Arexus, he knew all too well what losing a pack was like. At least, he had been only a pup at the time. Best to count one's blessings. Attempting to change the subject, he sniffed the air once more, catching the faint scent of rabbit, buried under the wolf scents. "You must be looking for a bite to eat. Not many other reasons to come down to this little stream. I can smell rabbit. You can join me hunting if you like."

Tabitha took in this information through her hears as she still had her eyes closed in a state of reflection. When they opened again, something a little less natural was apparent: her eyes were a faint glow of orange. This usually happens when the sun goes down, but they were not demonic. Rather just soulful. Not a tear shed from her eye ducts, and she also took a whiff of the ongoing scent that was foreshadowing a long awaited meal.
''Alright... but I warn you, I am no team player. You say ''wait'' and by then the prey will already be dead!''
With her composure restored, she waited for Arexus to begin hunting. She was really hungry. A meal could perk up her mood. She was also extremely lean for a wolf. Under that white fur were visible ribs just slightly shaping her chest. But the strength she wielded was in favor of agility and smarts.
''Lead the way, before I change my mind,'' she said with fake smirk. Her sense of self-dominance also gave off sarcasm and arrogance as a bi-product.
