1x1 lone wolf rp with EliteCanidae

Arexus had rose to his paws, tail wagging slightly. Even a wolf like him, who had been on his own for most of his life, knew that wolves were stronger together. He trusted this wolf, and it wasn't like he had much to do, with no territory to defend, and a meal taken care of.

"It won't take too long, if that's what you're worried about." He grinned slightly, enjoying the light banter. "The woods are pretty simple, when you get the hang of them. If you don't want a tour, you should at least come back to the river, I might be able to catch a couple fish, if you're still hungry." He flicked his tail, driving away the stray fly that was hanging around the remains of the meal.

If Tabitha didn't come, he might try and get some information from her on where she was going, it had been so long since he had spoken with another wolf. If he couldn't find where she was going, he might try joining a pack. It really had been too long.

Tabitha felt the need to call out that Arexus was underestimating her confidence in exploration, but instead chose to keep that harsh mouth shut.
She got onto her 4 paws and exclaimed: ''The tour will be fine, so long as we head East. I am... trying to understand this world... and the scale of it.''
Her voice was eerie, full of mystery and intrigue.
She watched his tail swoop over the now desolate pile of bones, her expression looking almost surprised by Arexus' sudden energetic body language.
The sun was almost approaching its descent into the distant hills, Tabitha felt a wave of uncertainty for the incoming darkness, but composed herself and honed in on Arexus' general direction. She trotted directly behind him, but within a few seconds, started to stride faster to bring herself alongside him. She did not hope for a positive response. This was mainly due to her experience and comfort of running alone, after doing so for so long.
Tabitha looked on ahead toward the burned sky from the East and began to walk slowly but still on a high guard.
''So, what's your story? I don't know much about being a pack member.''

Arexus let her walk beside him, but shifted away slightly, for more room to put his paws. He had always felt more awake at night, and his extra energy was probably showing. He loved the night, had always felt safe in the blanketing shadows. "I've never been in a real pack, it was always just me and my brother." Anger flashed across his face, eyes glinting. "He left for one of the packs that live in the hills, and I haven't seen him since." He turned his thoughts away from the memories, briefly focusing on the walk. He turned towards the river, pulling ahead just enough to lead them towards the thick part of the woods, where the deer would occasionally graze, and the grouse nested in spring. He would take them past the nests, stopping if there was food to be found, and then onwards to the medow. "It was pretty good after that though. I left the hills, and followed my nose to the river, and I've followed it down here. I haven't been here that long, only a couple of seasons."  He spread up slightly, leaping clearly over a fallen tree, and heading for the massive oak that held the nests of grouse.

Tabitha's ears were raised during his speech. She listened with intent to absorb as much info as she could.
She decided to navigate around the fallen tree rather than over it, in an effort to conserve energy.
''That's... rough.''
A long silence passed.
''But also good... in a way...''
....
''Sorry, I struggle to talk sometimes''
Her poor understanding of other wolves' emotions were affecting her ability to sympathise. And she knew it. Her tail ducked between her legs for the first time today, exposing a small amount of shyness to the social interaction, even though it was her who started it.
The path around the tree was brief, but it consequently resulted in a thicket of weeds tall enough to brush her underbelly and cause a brief sense of discomfort, only adding to her social awkwardness.
''Nrgh!'' she bellowed as the stinging edges of allergen-loaded crops bristled her from chest to hips. Her path finally relocated to Arexus' path and remained his desired distance apart.

Arexus sniffed the air, somewhat lost in thought. He thought he scented rain, and he hoped that it wouldn't ruin the tour. "It was good, in the end. I wouldn't have done too well in the hills, it was too open, and it was always to hot, with no shelter from the trees." He noticed she had gone into the weeds, and moved towards a slightly clearer path, slowing back to a walk. The sun was behind them, and he could see their shadows stretch over the ground. "It's alright, I haven't talked much either, at least not before I met you. Not many wolves come by here." He sniffed the air again, was that grouse?! perhaps the nest was still occupied...

Lost in the discussion, Tabitha failed to use her nose for any assurance of what they were approaching.
''You don't miss him? Did you have any respect after leaving?''
Tabitha's curiosity left her senses unguarded, and it was only Arexus who had awareness as they walked through the slightly paw-paved route. It would seem that her strengths have been extinguished by the cloud of wonder about Arexus. She yawned quietly and shook her head a little bit. She also hoped that Arexus wouldn't see her as emotionally confused. And the itching on her belly and loins were not helping the situation at all.
Bugs beneath them scattered in different directions as they parted the forage and dragonflies began to take over the air around them. The sun was fast disappearing and the first night crickets began to chirp away.
Tabitha bared her fangs and scrunched her eyes in an effort to relieve the soreness in her skin. She knew any attempt to scratch it would make it worse!
''Yeah, I like to think I am one of those few trespassers. Not just here, but everywhere I've been before. Some packs might recognize me, but they don't get much chance to see me more than once.''

Arexus sniffed again, suddenly slowing to a stalk. Lunging forward, he crashed down onto a grouse. The bird wiggled free, but the nest had a few eggs. He tucked his tail in slight embarrassment, having missed the grouse. Refocusing on the conversation, he shook out his fur, dispelling the bugs that covered the grass. "I did regret it, at first, and tried to return, but I was driven off.  I don't really see him as a brother now." He moved towards the eggs, sniffing them carefully. Deeming them safe to eat, he took one of the three, and began crunching it down.He still couldn't believe he had slipped up that badly, and, to distract himself, asked a question. "Why are you moving east? There are no packs, no lone wolves. "

Tabitha refrained from showing a reaction to Arexus' slight tumble onto a pile of eggs. There was only a hint of a smirk, but quickly neutralized by the words Arexus had said. She sat on the dry soil patch surrounding the nest, licked her front left paw and began to wash her fluffy chest to ease the soreness on her skin.
''Hm... good thing it wasn't me who fell over. But er... sorry for you about your bro-... former brother.'' She corrected herself, remembering the potential severity Arexus may have been through.
''I'm looking for answers to my past... maybe even to my future... I have traveled mostly East, because I want to know where exactly the world ends. If I deviate from my route, it will only take longer. I might run out of days to get those answers.''
She looked at her paws in frustration.
''Why did this happen to me...?''
She breathed in through her nose and sighed heavily out of her mouth.
''Do you know about the Battle of Elitopia?''
Arexus had finally gained enough trust for Tabitha to reveal an origin about herself...

"I'm afraid I haven't heard much about battles, having lived here most of my life." Arexus had lain down by a large oak, tour mostly forgotten. He was intrigued by the potential information about Tabitha's past. He pricked his ears slightly, tail still, on the ground.
He shifted slightly, ready to listen. It seemed that Tabitha had hurt herself somehow, so he patiently waited for her to continue. The statement about the end of the world confused him, as he had never really thought about the world having an end.
But now wasn't the time to ask.

''I don't know much about it myself. I heard from eavesdropping other packs that it was some sort of social warfare between localized packs, followed by an earthquake or two... resulting in anarchy. I was only 6 months...''
Tabitha laid down from where she sat after the itching stopped and gave Arexus a worrying stare.
''We looked up... the sky had changed. Every wolf was running and screaming. And my father took hold of me. He said he was going to find my mother. Off he went... out of the den. I never saw him again. Nor my mother. They were never found.''
Tabitha took a deep nervous breath and continued.
''But out in the woods, there was panic. And burning. I went to the opening of my den, and there in the open: I saw an animal so tall. I saw an unreal creature. And it saw me. It stared at me. It looked right into me...''
There was an unreal sense of complete silence for both Arexus and Tabitha. She was almost trembling in her speech. Then at this suspenseful moment, it started to pitter patter with rain.
''It placed an object on the ground in front of me, and then... it simply walked away.''
Tabitha stared hard into Arexus' glazing eyes.
''I knew that night... I knew I'd follow it. Not for revenge, obviously.  What would be the point of that?''
She huffed a small smile for that cheeky phrase, but at the same time, both her eyes were swelled up with tears. But then she continued...
''The object it left behind... it's my mother's pendant. The creature returned it to me. It's buried under my temporary den dozens of miles away from here. A last effort for me to survive was to relocate, and I just could not carry anything, so I left it behind. Hidden. Still safe... I hope. It's in a forest within the battlegrounds. Elitopia is the only name I've ever heard it be called by, so... that part is not important.''
She stretched out and relaxed her muscles. She had got some heat off her chest, and it felt good. Tabitha nervously awaited for Arexus' thoughts. She was ready to arrogantly bounce on anything he might say that isn't the way she meant it.
''But the end of the world thing... do you ever consider us wolves being bound by a limited exploration space? And if not, how could it be endless?''
Her voice sounded extremely rhetorical. But deep down, she hoped for no confusion.
