Midnight was on a hunt One day I was hunting at midnight and i heard a little voice in my ear saying you can be any thing you want to be and the little voice appeared to me and it was a little spirit wolf and the spirit wolf said you can be a ladder if you to be one. Little spirit was my first ladder. You can make a strong pack and you can help your pack to be strong and little wolf spirit helped me  through a rough part of being a wolf in this pack and help me teach the rest of pools in my pack and the puppies to make a srtongest pack I seen in my year and hope to become a ladder one day

It was a cool night after a harsh hot day as Midnight padded around, this was a night hunt, with his nose in the air and a away of his tail he continued on, until he picked up the scent of a rabbit, following the scent he found the rabbit quickly as it looked up from the ground it started to run as Midnight followed not far behind chasing the rabbit down for a bit of time before he wait blindsided by a larger figure than he was as another quickly caught the rabbit holding it in their muzzle as the figure holding Midnight down spoke.

"What are you doing in my territory?" A stern but soft tone coming from them as Midnight looked up seeing a Amber colored wolf with their head tilted to the side as another wolf with a mix of different colors and some blue as they look at Midnight wondering the same as the amber wolf as they move off Midnight sitting down with a nervous laugh.

"Sorry there, my name's Dawn and that's Blue, I apologize about blindsiding you, I thought you were a loner wolf looking for a easy pick from our pack" he says as Midnight responds with a smile "both of your names are wonderful, my name's Midnight, sorry I didn't pick up your scents in the chase I was to focused" Dawn looks at him with a laugh.

"We've all had those days when we are to into the hunt" as he finished the herbalist comes along with her apprentice with herbs in tow as they look at the three for a moment with a smile as they continue on back to the back as dawn turns seeing the pack leader, a small black and white wolf, as she approaches Dawn and Blue both dip their heads as she sits down looking over Midnight curious but a bit anxious before she spoke.

"Ah so this is who you two were talking about, well then hopefully you both didn't hurt the fellow to much" Dawn shook his head as Midnight looked at the leader curiously before he asked what he had on his mind. "Excuse me?" He spoke softly.

"What is your name? So I may address you properly" He finished looking at them as she smiled. "I go by many names but you may call me Miss, it's a name I give to many outside wolves" she smiled at Midnight with her tail swaying calmly as Blue set down the rabbit at Midnight's paws sitting next to him.

"You deserve the rabbit, we have more than enough food in our pack so one rabbit isn't a big issue" He smiled nudging Midnight's shoulder with his as he smiled as he looked that the three of them before he spoke.

"I should head back to my pack before they get worried it was nice meeting you three" he picked up the rabbit taking with with him waving bye to the three wolves before disappearing into the brush with a happy smile.

It was nice to meet new friends even if they're from a different pack as he continues on with the rabbit before laying down for a rest as he looks up at the night sky before continuing on making it back to his pack.

MIDNIGHT PANTS HEAVILY AS HE drags the large bone to his mate's hiding spot. The tiredness creeps in slowly but surely, and soon he feels as if he can move no more. However, he knows he has to travel the last mile to their makeshift den, no matter how much he wanted to rest. He turns his head warily to his blind side, where his black eye had been clawed out by an enemy wolf. Although it had healed, he can no longer see through it, and it appeared as a useless white piece of meat dangling by his eyes.

His saliva foamed around his mouth, and slowly trickled down the bone and onto his fur. A month ago he'd have stopped to indignantly wipe it away, but the apparent mark on his mental state by the difficult days of living alone with his incapacitated mate had changed him by a lot. Gradually, he felt as if he could no longer breathe, the bone blocking his nose and mouth, so he slowly put his hard-earned bone down, and took a deep breath of the night air. Suddenly, he felt a sense of fear, but refusing to believe that he was in danger, he shook his head wildly, trying to get rid of the false feeling of danger that crept up within him, but it only hung on tighter.

Finally giving in to his instincts, Midnight picked up his bone and started running for his den, his paws landing on the hard rocky terrain floor. He thought he could hear faint steps silently tracking him, and felt his heart race faster. He was almost at the edge of their territory when he abruptly stopped. If she was there, and she had to be, he would be leading whoever it was to her. His heart wrenching, he set the bone down on the floor inside his scent-marked piece of land, and started running in the opposite direction.

Despite knowing that he might very well never return, Midnight did not even look back. However, when he heard the sound of footsteps fading into the distance, he became confused. Turning around, he saw the scene he had always feared would happen.

A pack of five coyotes chased after a wolf-like figure whose fur glinted in the moonlight. A telltale sign of his mate, a pair of broken silver wings and a visible limp, scared him even more.

No... It can't be... Why does it have to be her?

He ran as fast as he could, his lethargy forgotten, to the she-wolf, but he was still too late. By the time he got there, the coyotes were already circling their dead prey.

Letting out a heartbroken howl, he lunged at the coyotes, who scattered. However, with strength and speed exceeding even a normal wolf thanks to his grief, he eventually caught up with them all and shred their bodies to pieces. He trotted back to the female, his female, 's dying spot, and laid down wearily beside her. After a while of silent vigil, he stood, and began dragging her body into their territory.

Sitting down in the sheltered den, he stared at the moonlit lands, unable to fall asleep. He couldn't bear the mental images he would dream about that night, and so he sat, battling with his messy clump of emotions throughout the night.

He would go on to have another mate, but he would never forget how he had failed to protect his first...

He would never allow himself to forget that...

He just couldn't make the same mistake again...
