Biography
Fire was born into Thunder Pack in a litter of four to Dark and Tiger. Dark was fearful of Tiger finding out about the pups, so Fire and his littermates were usually hidden or snuck into the nursery with the help of the mother-wolves, Flower and Speckle.
One night, Dark caved after Speckle told her to either confess to the kits being hers and raise them properly or leave. Obviously, Flower attempted to comfort Dark, but Speckle told her denmate it was time for the dark wolf to stop beating about the bush and face facts.
Dark hesitantly agreed, and later that night, Dark told her pups they were going on an adventure. Fire and his littermates eagerly followed their mother from the camp in the dead of night. Dark took them to a longpaw city, lifting them over the fence one-by-one and finding a thick-leafed bush to hide and keep warm in. After pacing the her pups inside, she instructed Leopard, Night, and Dusk to bark as loudly as possible so they could go somewhere warmer and cozier to live. She whispered to them, "You'll be safer away from him..." Fire was confused about his mother's meaning, but didn't question her.
Dark gave each of her pups a lick and loving goodbye before taking Fire back to the pack's camp, despite the barks and whines of her other pups, howling for Dark to come back, that they were cold, that they were hungry...that they were scared.
Moons passed and Tiger was exiled from Thunder Pack. Storm deemed Tiger a traitor after he tried attacking and killing the Alpha, Blue. Tiger didn't hesitate to accept this, earning gasps from the watching wolves. Completely surprised that the pack's supposedly loyal Beta was secretly a traitor. Tiger asked around, asking if any wolf would leave and join him. He questioned Flower, Dust, and Spring. They all said no. Disappointed, he finally turned to look at Dark. Tiger's face softened as he asked Dark if she'd leave with him. Hurt, Dark snapped back, howling at the striped wolf to leave her alone, that she'd be better of without him. Surprised by the hostility, Tiger finally noticed Fire, with Dark's unmistakable ice-blue eyes, and Tiger's own ginger-and-red coloration. Dark snarled, crouching lower around Fire, much too late. Tiger looked up, mixed emotion on his face as he left, saying nothing as wolves snarled, growled, and snapped at him on his way out. Fire looked up innocently at his mother, blinking and huddling closer before asking where Tiger went. Dark forced a smile as she licked his head, saying Tiger had gone away and wouldn't be coming back. Fire was looking confused as he nodded slowly, staring at where the striped wolf had disappeared.
Fire grew to be apprenticed to Dust as Storm became first Beta and then Alpha with Blue's death. New pups, Bramble and Tawny, were apprenticed to Storm and Bracken. Fire, Bramble, and Tawny grew to be close friends, almost like littermates. When Tawny vanished from camp, Fire was devastated, searching everywhere for the she-wolf alongside her litter-brother, Bramble. Dark and Fire had grown distant, and the last straw was when Sorrel survived eating a deathberry and revealed Dark poisoned her after catching her spying on her talking to Black, the Beta of Shadow Pack. Dark was exiled from Thunder Pack. Fire growled that he wished he'd never been born, stalking away to his den.
While Storm gathered a patrol to meet Tiger, the new Alpha of Shadow pack, Fire went with them to discover Tawny had joined her father's pack. Fire and Bramble both questioned her as to why, but Tawny refused to answer, looking away guiltily. Tiger ignored Bramble's outbursts, asking both his sons to join him. Both declined in an instant. Bramble growled that he'd rather die than join, while Fire snarled and vowed to stay loyal to his pack above all, not some traitor and his lackeys.
Tiger stared at both of them in astonishment, sneering they'd die like the rest. Casually
mentioning he never knew he'd had such disappointments for sons. Fire noticed the dark pelt of Dark among the crowd of wolves, staring down at him with a look of fear and burning hatred. Tiger vowed he'd kill every wolf. One. By. One.
Tiger turned to face a small black wolf with one white paw. Turning to the crowd of wolves behind him, Tiger gave the order to attack. Fire bristled, ready to fight, surprised when the small black male said he followed only his own orders. Tiger ordered them to attack once more. Storm stepped up to explain Tiger would never give them land or anything he'd promised. 'Scourge', as the male was called, turned to face Tiger while addressing the packs, stating he hadn't known the plan with the dogs had failed. Tiger growled to say it was all over now, nothing to worry about, and tried again to give the order to attack. Fire shuffled closer to his half-brother. Bramble whispered he was frightened. Fire shakily replied in the affirmative. Scourge stood, no bigger than a newly made apprentice, and said again that his pack, 'Blood Pack' as it was called, would not attack. In a fit of rage, Tiger launched himself at the small male, only to be sliced open from throat to tail-tip. The packs gasped, panicked. Terrified of this small, apprentice-sized male. Scourge turned to the frightened packs, smirking calmly, amused at the frightened faces and terrified howls. Howling over the crowd, loud enough for everyone to hear, Scourge announced a battle would be held in no less than a week's time.
When the week was up and Storm had gathered his pack, they returned to the battlefield. The pack stared down over the hillside to face the ruthless pack
Scourge and Storm approached each other, letting out battle cries and starting the fight.
Blood Pack's Beta, Bone, killed White without hesitation, angering several apprentices. Fire and several others launched onto the scarred wolf. Fire swiped at his eyes, earning a howl and getting knocked off, bumping into none other than Dark.
Fire stared up at his mother with shock. In an instant, Fire launched himself at her, snarling that his existence was all her fault, that he never wanted to be born. Dark cried for mercy. Fire raised a paw, ready for the killing blow, but before he could, Dark placed a gentle paw on his chest, pushing him away slightly and confessing she always loved him, hoping she was a good mother. Fire hesitated. Dark was his mother, the wolf who stayed by his side until then... Fire looked down at her, rage and hatred bubbling inside as he realized she probably had him just to leave him! He lifted his paw again, not hesitating to strike this time. Fire stared down at her as the moment passed, and the sickening realization hit him.
He just killed his own mother.
Fire looked away to see Bramble and Tawny fighting off a large wolf. He hesitated to even move, slumping over Dark's corpse and whining. Once the battle ended, Dust, his mentor, comforted him and guided him home. Bramble noticed Fire's blank face and asked what was wrong. Fire told his mentor and best friend dryly that he just killed his mother. Dust immediately asked "Dark?" and Fire nodded weakly. Fire stumbled home, feeling numb. Storm made Fire and Bramble warriors.
During the vigil, it began to snow. Bramble tried to cheer up Fire, who didn't understand at first until a clump of snow hit his muzzle. He launched himself at the strong wolf and the two wrestled in the snow. Well, until Mouse, an elder, yelled for them to be quiet.
Fire came across a lone wolf hunting solo at the edge of the territory. He was brave, strong-willed, not hesitating to speak his mind. He wasn't soft-spoken. His name was Shadow. Shadow introduced Fire to the life of a lone wolf, free of the ties and responsibilities of pack life. A moon passed, and Fire approached Storm, asking to leave Thunder Pack to become a lone wolf with Shadow. Storm told him to follow his heart, granting full permission to leave. Bramble was shocked by this, sadly asking why Fire couldn't stay, saying he had no one else but Fire now that Tawny had left. Fire reassured Bramble that they might meet at the border, or that he could visit whenever. Bramble wasn't especially comforted by this, but accepted it.
Fire thanked Storm profusely before leaving Thunder Pack. Shadow met him at the border and the two traveled away from the packs.
A storm struck one night while the two slept at a riverbank, and Shadow was swept away in the floodwaters. Fire searched for him, but was unable to find him. Saddened to have lost his only friend, Fire attempted to retrace his pawsteps to Thunder Pack, but got lost among his faded trail and new scents and the fresh, overwhelming smell of fallen rain. Fire traveled for a long time before hearing two echoing howls through the forest. He howled back, following them to find Tala and Pepper, the new Alpha of Pack Trueno. Fire accepted her offer to join, becoming her first pack member.
