Original Lore-
Cassius had a rough and uncertain birth and puphood. He was born into the very first litter of Phillipa, second Chieftain to the Salmonstone pack and into the first ever litter of lead wolf pups. He was born beside four other siblings, all identical to their mother. His sisters were especially looked after, and each pup was well taken care of until the tragedy struck. An unknown threat was present in the territory, and caused the sudden death of all his siblings, leaving him as the only survivor. Phillipa being a mother of little experience, could not handle her grief and begun to unintentionally neglect him. She payed little attention to the needs of her only surviving pup, too held up in the burden of losing her four daughters. She was devastated, believing she was carrying on her own mothers' curse. Cassius often finds himself feeling guilty, questioning why he was the one to survive. Forever trying to prove himself to his mother, but to little avail. He was rarely seen among the others as he spent most of his time stowed away in the caves especially after the death of Wyakin, the wolf who cared for him most in the absence of his mother. Seeming like everyday was a battle to feel like a valuable pack member, he decided to pursue self acceptance elsewhere by becoming a traveller.

LORE: Cassius arrived at the Court of Howls right at the beginning of a Lunar Event. The influence of the Moon was really strong and it was impossible for Cassius not to stare at Neoma, the wolf imbued with a Pherris soul. Her pherris features seemed even more evident now that the Moon power was so strong, and mysterious globes of lunar energy seemed to never leave her side.
Cassius couldn't help being curious about such a special wolf, so he spent most of his stay at the Court with her. When it was time to leave, some of the weird globes seemed to have taken a liking to him and followed him in his travels.

He was already very experienced when entering the pack and mostly enjoyed conversing with the den mothers and sharing tales of adventures with the wolves of the pack. He befriended a small blue jay that lived in the Starshade woods, choosing to accompany Cassius on his travels as he left the Starshade Pack to continue his journey.

"EEK!" The pup yelps, scrambling back into a bush. "Don't hurt me!"
Cassius tilts his head, before crouching down to get a better look at the pup. "I wasn't planning to. Are you lost?"
The pup slowly crawls out, still cautious. "Mhm... I snuck away from Mrs. Neuvi and then got lost." She looks up at him, slightly bouncing around him. "Can you help me find Mrs. Neuvi? Oh! I'm Oreo!"
Cassius gives a small nod. "I'm sure I can."
"Oh thank you!"
Cassius was welcomed into the Meropide pack and stayed as a pupsitter, keeping an eye on the more rambunctious pups, Oreo included.
