I'm still incredibly frustrated at how the game won't let me breed all my male wolves so here are my rules to make the best of this nonsensical game mechanic:

Pack Leaders and Breeding

• The pack will always have two leaders, one male and one female;
  
• The male leader will ALWAYS be the breeding male;
  
• The male leader may mate with any females but only pups born from the female leader are eligible heirs;
• No inbreeding allowed within the pack;

Succession

• Both leaders are replaced together when one of them passes away;
• One of the leaders is picked from the previous leaders' heirs, the other is chosen by the elected leader based on their worthiness (skills, beauty, etc..);
• If the male leader outlives the female, he will retain the breeding male status but his pups will not be considered heirs (cuz I ain't spending GC on that);
  
• Heirs must complete a solitary hunt upon reaching adulthood to prove their worth, this will earn them a score from 10 to 1 based on the number of hunting attempts before success;
• Falling ill will detract 1 point from a heir's score;
• When the time comes to pick new leaders, the heir with the higher score is elected;
• In case of parity, the heir with the highest statistics is elected;
  
• Only adults may succeed the leaders;
